Hello,
I've had pretty aggressive Crohn's disease now for over a year and a half. Only at the start of this year had all the constant BM's and squeezing caught up with me, and I was landed with the most agonizing internal and external hemmroids I could ever possibly think they would be. Along with this, now that things are squeezing so tight in there, fissures easily form with every BM, causing burning, stinging and itching pain. I've been prescribed a steroid cream to use by my GI, and it seemed to work great at first, but slowly they just seemed to grow in spite of the cream. Now, there are so many open fissures down there I cant even put on the cream without it causing horrible pain in those cuts and burns. Im at the end of my rope here, I sometimes end up face down in a pillow screaming after a large BM for a good half hour. They prescribed me Tramadol for the pain but its a complete BS painkiller. I need help, because my every 2 week GI visit has not been very helpful. How can I get rid of hemmroids when the only way to get the BM out is to squeeze it through the inflamed tissue??? Please help!

I experienced the same for several years--along with abcesses and recto vaginal fistulas. I hear you--it's awful. The hemies were so bad i felt like i had quarters stuck in my bum and sometimes undigested food or a pill casing woukd get stuck on my skin tag. Talk about sometime stuck up my a$$!

These may sound silly but here's how I found a good deal of relief.

Before each BM, I applied Vaseline to the whole area. This really helped take away the sting and helped the diarrhea slide by. Sometimes I put Vaseline on the toilet paper when wiping. Wiping with a warm washcloth instead of tissue helped as well.

Soaking my bum in a tub of water (a sitz bath) as hot as I could stand it with some salt added really helped. I'd soak til the water cooled and then dry the are with the hair dryer on the cool setting. Then, I'd apply a layer of corn starch. Keeping the area dry really helped. This was really key.

Sometimes I'd just roll up a wash cloth and wet it with really hot water and apply it. Dry and add the corn starch. I kept a Baggie of corn starch in my purse. Imagine what someone could have mistaken it for!

I never had much luck with tucks wipes or preparation H. I know some folks use diaper creams and have had a lot of relief.

Best to you. Hope and pray it gets better.

I have just started with these issues and it is AWFUL! I used A & D ointment and Campho Phenique. I also use flushable wipes and bag balm. I lubed up real good before a bowel movement and after. I also tried Prep H, but it did nothing for me! I seem to be healing up after 3 weeks of misery! Praying you find relief.

Thank you for the responses, I will try the suggestions tommorow when my usual bout of pain springs up. I have done the sitz bath before many times, it helps but its nothing that will last the whole day. I did notice id start drying the whole area on my floor fan after the baths or a shower and it helps just like you said. Never thought of using corn starch though! great tip ill have to try it. And to the other poster, Prep H is pretty much child's play hemm meds. Its for people who have very minor painless hemms. I've found one that worked back when the problem wasn't serious is Beautreaux's Butt Paste (Yes, I know what a name!) It is a diper rash cream that works to relieve inflammation much better then Prep H. Although once the problem progressed past minor pain, it no longer did the trick. Same thing happened to the special steroid cream the pharm mixed for me. Again, I thank you for the help, and ill still check on here if anyone else has any suggestions! :luigi:

I went through what you are experiencing about 10 years ago (and forward to today).

At first it was so painful. I did not go to the doctor because I'm a numb skull. but, after about a year it got better. Eventually, the tissue scars or moves outward enough to not get impacted by every bowel movement.

That or - your insides become irritated and swolen, thus reducing your bowel diameter potential and reducing the exit wounds.

Not sure which is my case but either way - it became bearable if you're strong enough to stick it out - probably not smart though - sorry you're having this, I know exactly what you are describing.

Get canasa, the suppositories. The first few will hurt to insert.
