Hey Everyone,
I posted about a month ago when I was having a wicked flare. After speaking with so many people I found strength and encouragement, and I thank all of you who responded. Since my flare started I was prescribed Flagyl in addition to my daily 4 tablets of Lialda. I met with my doctor and I will be having another colonoscopy this Friday...ugh. My symptoms have lessened however the diarrhea has not stopped. I have moved to a liquid diet that I started yesterday just to prevent me from drinking the entire gallon of the disgusting mixture tomorrow. I also had a blood test done to determine the complications I will have in my future from the Crohn's: like the likelihood of flares, etc. But the thing that scared me the most was when my doctor mentioned that I may need to consider infusions of Remicade...being a 2-2.5 year commitment. I was wondering if anyone has done this, or is going through this, and if so any advice is welcome.

Right now I am so anxious, nervous and quite frankly scared. I haven't even mentioned the option of infusions to my boyfriend because I am terrified he may go running because I am sick. At 26, I just cannot understand how I lived my entire life healthy and now this. I am just kind of at that point of discouragement and sadness and I really am hoping for the best news after my scope Friday. Thank you to everyone that takes the time to respond. I appreciate every opinion and piece of advice. God bless us all.

Hope you feel better soon. I started remicade in April and I love it. It's been so amazing and has really helped me improve. Let us know what happens.

Hi Ashley,

Firstly i wish you well.

Now, there is absolutely no point in getting in a state about what you don't know. Thats it in a nut shell. If there is a problem by friday then so be it, but worrying now isnt gonna make whats possibly already there dissappear by friday, so . . .try try try to chillax !

I wish you well my friend, dont worry so much sorry i can't give you any help on the drugs side of things . I did have remicade which worked for me the first time but i had other issues that meant it neccessary for me to go further foward and have surgery.

Don't fear anything we are all different in so many ways and alike in so few.

Big hug

Bruscar

I was recently diagnosed this past April/May. I've had 3 remicade treatments and it's been rough; but only because I've been so sick for soooo long and they only just figured out what it is. I do get some side effects from the Remicade; but I know the Remicade is the light at the end of the tunnel. I have severe attacks often - just got through one that got me in the hospital but am doing a little better. Don't be scared - Remicade my be exactly what you need to feel better. My 4th treatment is on 7/22.

I'm curious - doc is talking about a 202.5 year commitment on remicade? why? are the assuming that is all you will need, or that it will stop working? I have been on it for over 5 years now, with no intention of stopping unless it stops working and/or I have a reaction to it.....

And just remember, you CAN have a full and happy life with Crohns'!
