help

I have been suffering for years. In 1997 i had to a colonectomy because of a large growth. I was told then that the tumor had characteristics of crohns disease but they were not sure. I was young and was not told to follow up with anyone so i didnt. Off and on over the years i have had symptoms and have been to several doctors to no accord. I am now being told that i probably have crohns but every test they have dont so far comes back normal(ultrasound, Upper gi with small bowel followthru, stool test, colonoscopy) I am very weak and tired most of the time, i have chronic diarrhia, vomiting and nausia, my vitamin D was a 9 and was told my other vitamins were probably also low, my liver enzymes were really high though now they are going down. any ideas? is crohns that hard to diagnosis? any suggestions? any help and advice is appreciated. thanks and God Bless!!

Hi there :welcome:

Yes, Crohn's is indeed very hard to diagnose. It took me well over a year of tests, and agony. Some people get diagnosed right away some take many years. Sometimes having a GI specialist may help or a different one. I can't imagine a doctor not telling you to follow up. I was very persistent, you have to be, no one should be in this pain and vomiting. Prednisone helps alot and gets you out of pain in a temporary situation, but you really need a diagnosis. Maybe getting checked for Celiac's disease? Sorry you are going through all this, there is lots of information here, hope you feel better soon, and dont give up until you get an answer! What country are you from?

Take care.

:welcome: RS! Sounds frustrating to say the least!! So, with all of these tests they have not seen any inflammation or ulcers? Have you had your gallbladder tested? I think it is called a HIDA scan. One of our members suffered for a loooong time only to find out recently that it was her gallbladder!! She had it removed and feels so much better. Also wondering why they don't start you on a prednisone taper to see if you have any relief from that?

:welcome: Welcome RSBIBLE ! I really like your user name. Not sure what RS stands for though? Anyhow Your issue sounds almost crazy that your Doctors would just not have an sort of follow up! You should not be suffering like this ! Are you on any med. what kind of Doc. have you seen? etc. Please try and get more answers or better yet ask God to help you find a good careing Doctor. May God Bless you too!

I had my gallbladder removed last year it was working at 40%. They wasnt sure if that was the issue so they suggested removal. I felt good for a few months but the symptoms have returned. I am not on any medication. I am seeing a GI and go back thursday. wish me luck. thanks everyone!!

:welcome: rsbible....Google bile salts diarrhea and see if your symptoms are similar...Many of us here, myself included have this problem. We take a bile acid sequestrant drug that really helps reduce the diarrhea. I hope you get some answers soon Good luck, and keep us posted.
