Hi, my name is Andie (Andrea), I am 19 and I was diagnosed with crohn's disease when I was 12.
I have been in and out of remission ever since, usually flaring up at stressful points in my life.
I am currently on Humira, pentasa, azothyaprine and an iron supplement.
I've had an operation for removing my appendix when I got appendicitis, but thankfully have not needed to have surgery to remove any of my intestine yet.
I am currently having a flare up and my appetite is rapidly decreasing again. I've recently been on another course of prednazone which for the first time ever, didn't help! :/
I am due to have an MRI next week to see how much my intestines have changed since I was 12.
I've never joined a crohn's support group before, I guess I just didn't want to talk about it, or admit the fact that there was something wrong with me, in the hope that it would go away...
I had a breakdown the other day about how helpless I feel having this condition, knowing that medical professionals think it can't be cured, I was really depressed and was encouraged by a friend to join a support network for my condition in the hope it could help.
I'm a vegetarian and have a strong affiliation with the natural world. I've found the more heavily processed a food is and the more chemicals it contains, the more it hurts my abdomen.
I hate popping so many pills and injecting myself with epi-pens, and would love to find a more natural alternative to this. Is anyone on this forum in remission through natural remedies? I tried homeopathy once, but unfortunately it didn't work. :(
Anyway, that's my story! Would love to hear some feedback or advice :)

Hi Andie!

For me, veggies can be one of the worst things on my tummy, and processed crap, although bad for me in other ways, is just easier to digest and so it hurts a lot less. We are all different though.

I’m glad you found us. This place really helps you realize that you are not alone in all of this! Welcome to the forum!

Thanks Joan and Nicole!
Your support is much appreciated :)
Yes I did notice something about the humira club, looked really interesting! Is it something you join or is it the name of a forum?..

Hi Andie and Welcome to the forum.. Lots of information here and lots of friends. The humira club is a thread on the forum. It is located under Treatment .. Good luck with your MRI

you can post any questions you have about humira under the humira club. For me eating vegtables makes things alot worse than they already are. I did try homeopathy with a german doctor and things did start to look up for me a little, but after a while it lost efficiancy so now i am on humira, and i love it. I did try remicade first but it did not work out too well for me. Welcome to the forum and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions:)
