Hey everyone! i'm new and i'm hoping to finally find people who understand what i go through! haha...i was diagnosed this past February with Crohn's. i had had awful pains in my stomach for 2 months before i finally found a doctor who believe me when i said something was wrong. And by that time things were so bad i had missed a week and a half of classes and work and could barely move because the pain was constant and so awful. So i had a CT scan which showed massive abscess/infection in my small intestine. So i was admitted to the hospital on Valentine's Day (bummer, but i had no one to spend it with anyway, haha). The following day i had surgery, which was part exploratory. i had about a foot of my small intestine removed, along with my appendix.
i recovered pretty well and was doing great until a few weeks ago. i started to get diarrhea more often than what was normal. At first i figured i would give it a few days and thought it would pass but instead it got more and more fequent and all of my BMs were the same liquid-y consistancy. However, i started to notice that the consistancy wasn't like the kind of consistancy i was used to with diarrhea. There's like these fluffy-looking chunks while the rest of like pure liquid.
So i had already had a GI appointment scheduled for this past Wednesday so i explained this to my doctor. i had also noticed the day before that, that when i had a BM all of my medication came out in full. Well, im not a huge fan of my GI, i feel like he doesn't really care enough or take the time to listen and understand. So he told me he could schedule me for a colonoscopy but the soonest he could get me in was the very end of the month. i didn't think i could wait another week to have something done! He didn't give me anything to do in the meantime to help with my issues.
Well luckily i was put on a cancellation list and im going in this Wed, for it, and it'll be my first one. So i thought i could rest a wee bit easier knowing i wouldnt have to wait so long.
Until late last night i had a BM and i got really really awful cramps and pain. They left me with chills and when i got up i looked into the toilet (which ive been doing to make sure im not having any bleeding) and i was terrified because it looked like there was thread or string throughout all of the fluffy parts. i really freaked out because it was late and i didnt want to call my parents at home and i had never seen anything like this before. Its like it looked like pieces of thread or little spider legs and i lost it.
This morning when i woke up early for a BM i notice just a few of those thread-like things and then a few hours later when i went again i really didnt see any. Then again, earlier this evening i saw a bunch more.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this in their BMs? i have no idea what it could be, i haven't been eating anything that i could ncessarily tie it to. At first one of my thoughts was that it really could be string...it looks almost like stitches and i didnt know how exactly my small instestine was reconnected after surgery but i thought, oh gosh would it have been stitched and this could be the stitches coming out because of all of the diahrrea i've been having? i dont know how irrational of a thought that is, if it would even be possible, but ive just been a nervous wreck because i haven't dealt with anything like this before.
i know that was a long explanation, so if anyone read through the whole thing and has any thoughts, i would reeeeally appreciate them!
