Hi I am 18 years old and currently undiagnosed and recently had a capsule endoscopy (pill cam). They found a small hiatal hernia. I have very bad reflux and terrible stomach problems. I have had chronic constipation since I was 2 (currently on mirilax) and i suffer from stomach attacks (about 5 times a year).
Could the hernia be affecting my stomach???
Please help. Any info could help!
Thank you! :ghug:

No experience with hiatal hernia. Only thing I know is that it causes reflux. Are you going to need surgery to fix it? Sending support your way.

Most of the developed world has or will have a histal hernia. They're among the most common chronic GI aliment and usually asymptomatic. But they're especially common and developed among those with IBD because of our frequent bathroom usage and need to avoid fiber during flares. It's almost certainly not the root of your problems unless it's one of the more exotic forms.

I had a hiatal hernia. A naturopathic doc told me how to fix it! When you wake up. Go pee, then drink 6 oz of water. Then go up on yiour tip toes and drop to your Heels.Do this 10 times every morning. Once you quit having reflux an d heartburn, still do it a few times a week. I had an endoscopy a couple of weeks ago and no hernia! I started doing this last fall, and quit having problems after about 10 days.

Wow I'm thinking if I were you I'd keep a good journal. Could be a good allergy. I hope you find out soon!

I had a tiny hiatal hernia found on my first upper endoscopy. Had another recently (a couple years on) and no sign of it as far as I know.

As others have said they are very common (even in a healthy population I believe) and I really don't think sadly it will point towards a diagnosis.

I was diagnosed with it about four years ago. I am on lansoprazole 30mg a day. Reflux is worse when I am not well. When I had surgery, the anatheseologist had to put his elbow on my throat as they were putting me to sleep ugh

Thanks ckk4. I recently went to an ENT and he said I had severe inflammation And cobblestoning in my throat. We aren't sure what's causing it (which is the bad part). I'm currently diagnosed with IBS and am on medication for reflux.
I really hope I find out what it is!!!
