We often don't drink enough water, it is crucial to drink adequate amounts. I find if I dont drink enough, I feel listless. With all the meds we take, IV's, we need to flush them out as well as keep your kidneys and liver functioning. I have to admit I haven't been drinking as much but I am going to drink more.

I try and drink about 5 a day, but I include the other fluids I drink in my count as well. Generally 8 glasses of clear liquid a day.

OK...my computer screwed me up...I posted none...but I actually drink 5 or more...sheesh...

I find it very difficult to drink pure water. Normally I drink coffee, squash and recently bovril. I aim for 8 glasses of fluids, though in the winter I don't get thirsty and forget to drink. It is not unusual for me to get ready for bed and realise I haven't had a drink since 11am! Though now I have Crohn's I will try to take better care of myself.

I think I drink about a gallon a day. I work maintaining a golf course and it gets hot outside so I drink water non-stop. Gives me a false weight check at the end of the day with all the water weight lol

Ohhh now I sound like the bad guy here lol I hardly drink water, it's usually milk, fresh juice.... or fizzy stuff......... Ok now I feel guilty I think I'll start lol

Your body is mostly water, you need to replace that water! I drink maybe 2 - 3 litres a day. If I'm at the gym that day or martial arts maybe going on for 5.

I drink a lot - not sure how many glasses, but I would guess it's definitely above the recommended 8 glasses per day. I drink lots of water, and also decaf tea (usually chamomile or peppermint, as both seem to calm my stomach) and gatorade or pedialyte if I'm feeling dehydrated. I avoid soda, coffee, and caffeine and of course alcohol.

Bad girl :lol2:. Most people don't drink alot of water and I am surprised alot of guys here are being good drinking it. It prevents liver damage, kidney stones, and gets rid of toxins. Stops wrinkling (yes we all age!) and keeps skin soft. So many reasons to drink it. I am gonna be checking on you claire so get drinking LOL;)

I have to drink 2 gallons a day!And I do drink it cause my husbadn makes me drink a half gallon to every pop or juice I drink.LOL.You get sick of water so you always want something different. It was Doctor orders,With my ileostomy I only have less then half my small intestines left.Sadly though my kidneys and liver have had problems since my diagnosis. My kidneys are both placed on the right side and I have had renal failure once already.

i drink a minimum of 3 litres of squash a day. more if its hot. dont know how many glasses that is.

Wow that is alot of water! There is a thing that you can drink too much water too! Best to stay away from pop ,even if it is diet pop, just best to be away from it. Some juices are acidic and cause Diahreah and have loads of sugar. Always read your labels, I do, unless I dont want to see the calories

Just bumping this up, I have been a bad girl not drinking as much and it is the worst thing not to with all the meds and crap we take. Even after bowel movement especially if you are extreme Diahreah or Constipated.

So drink you water! :cheerss:

I have never cared to drink a lot of water because it has no taste, and I cannot drink the flavored water you can buy cause it all has artifical sugars, However I just found a new way to flavor your water and it taste really good. I take a piece of fruit and but in through the babyfood grinder then put it in a little strainer and put the juice in my water. It is really good that way and all natural. So now I drink more water and it make me feel better.

I drink 3 glasses of pure water, 2 glasses of water w/ liquid chlorophyll (one in the morning and one at night), and 2 glasses of iced tea a day. I've completely cut out soda and juices (they both give me bad gas).

Scifi, can you please tell me more about chlorophyll? Have you noticed a difference? Sounds interesting!

Have recently read two articles relating to this thread:

1. http://www.scientificamerican.com/p...=water-before-meal-means-fewer-calor-10-08-24

For those of us in "weight gain" class of Crohnies, drinking water BEFORE a meal can lead to the consumption of fewer calories. Since people with Crohn's are sometimes advised not to drink too much while eating, anyway, this order of things could potentially be a help.

2. http://portal.acs.org/portal/acs/co...1&__uuid=82dadf69-0f84-413f-adf5-876a2e8d308c

Home brewed iced green or black tea appears to contain far more antioxidants than the bottled stuff. Lately I've been making mine with either stevia or agave nectar, although I do like my white sugar, too, haha. I can't really tolerate green or black tea these days and have been sticking mostly to rooibos.

Yea, ever since I've started using the chlorophyll I've experienced a lot less heartburn. And if I eat something that gives me heartburn I make myself a small glass of it, and it usually goes away within 10-15 minutes. I've also experienced less pain and inflammation because of it. Keep in mind it doesn't get rid of the pain altogether, but makes it not as bad. All you do is combine a teaspoon (or two) of it with a glass of cold water and chug it down (or you can drink it more slowly if you prefer). It has a sort of minty taste, which I think is OK. Not the best taste in the world, but certainly not bad.

Here's a website that explains it better: http://www.ehow.com/about_6627510_effects-chlorophyll-crohn_s.html

I don't like just water. It tastes like blech. My tea, soda (I drink diet now) and juice contains H2O and that's good enough for me.

Scifi, thanks for the info about chlorophyll! Will do some reading and think about giving it a try. I respectfully disagree with quite a lot of that article, but will look around for other sources. ;)

I drink about a litre of water, coffee :eek2:, cordial (squash), and milk a day. I would prefer to drink that eat anyday. Just wish I could put the bourbon in the list as well

about 1/2 a litre a day

Doc says to go to 2.5 litre a day... ugh.. so painful drinking .. chug chug chug..gonna try and aim for 1 litre today!

I didn't like water on it's own at first, but I have gradually got used to it. So long as it's cold and bottled....I will drink it.

I mainly drink squash or water and sometimes apple juice, oh and orange ribena....I love orange ribena.

I try to drink about 2 litres of water or squash a day, usually squash.

Glad to see most of you drink... if you are young and dont drink water , you could age faster..my mom is 75 and my daughter is 22 we are all major water drinkers. They look so young...ok not so much me ;)

Update: I havent been drinking as much water, my skin and eyes are dry and my husband has been the same, we have RO water taps so their is not excuse, just need to drink more, need to flush my body out..... I am bad. ;)

I'd say I've been drinking around ~150 oz. of water a day lately. I've gotten good at drinking water since I've started working out again. :)

Good boy and since your are heading for the medical field, you should know better ;) BTW isnt someone's bd coming up?:whistleinnocently::whistleinnocently:

Haha, it is if I can live through the week! I'm exhausted and it's not even Monday yet. :p

Well today I have been really good, I drank about 2 litres of water or flavoured water, one glass of flat pop (soda), and 5 cups of coffee. Normally I would only drink the coffee and a glass or two of flavoured water, but I'm aiming for the two litres a day to rule out dehydration as the cause of my fatigue.

Squash is a base of fruit juice, like cordial, with soda water added.

Well that's what we call the beverage here in Oz.

Dusty. :)

I drink when I am thirsty, I never count. Sometimes I feel like I am having a glass of water in my hands all day, sometimes I cannot remmeber the last time I took a sip. I also drink other beverages, tea, coffee (Filtered), OJ. I have never felt dehydrated so far sometimes I feel REALLY thirsty but most of the time I am ok. The only time I actually craved water, was when I was at the hospital.

I usually drink at least 4 glasses of water a day and also have some juice and soda as well. Now that winter is here, I usually drink more, since the air is so dry from the heaters coming on.

Whoa Lumberjack 2 litres?? :welcome: by the way. I drink water whether I am thirsty or not, when you are thirsty it means you are dehydrating. I drink alot if I am on big time meds...which I am now. Flushes out the liver and kidneys and I am prone to kidney stones.

I just learned recently that people with short bowel syndrome (or resections) should never drink Tap water. I don't because I either drink it out of a bottle or my reverse osmosis tap. I also have soft water and UV rays travelling through my water. I still dont know the full aspects as to why but my theory is bacteria in drinking water can be present and even if I am at a restaurant, I never drink their water.

I should be drinking more though! :yfaint:

I drink about 4 glasses a day, but I drink juice and coffee (mostly decaf) as well.

I know I don't drink enough water, but seriously I don't need to add more bathroom breaks into my day! ;)

i read about it from the book Healing Digestive Illness by this guy: http://www.healingdigestiveillness.com/

yeah he's selling you a book, but at least he's a colitis patient who supposedly cure himself. it makes sense. the basic premise is chronic dehydration, even if it is only slight dehydration, can cause many illnesses or make them worse. considering our bodies are over 70% water it makes sense. you are supposed to drink half your weight in water ounces. so if you weigh 200lbs, you drink 100 ounces a day. also, he tells you to put sea salt in the water for minerals. it's not as crazy as shooting up rat DNA.
