My son was diagnosed at age 11 in 2011. He first started loosing weight after age 9. I suspect this was when his disease started.

Stephen - 16 in May 2011. But started getting backaches in Fall 2010, minor GI symptoms Dec. 2010

Sarah was dx at 16. But gi believes it the cause of her anenia which we have been treating since she was 12

Daniel was DX age 11 September 2010. I can't remember how many years of running to the bathroom after eating. But it was just several months prior he had bleeding. That started the whole process of getting to the DX.

I need an extra vote! :)

Matt was diagnosed at 17 and only had symptoms during his 17th year.

Sarah was diagnosed at 14 1/2 but had symptoms at 13.

Dusty. :)

PS. Edited the poll so both my votes went in.

AWESOME...thanks for starting this YAY

edited to add:
Dx age TEN w/sudden onset symptoms, no earlier harbingers at all.

Wow...sorry I don't have a child diagnosed with it, but so many at age 9-11. My little girls 8, and every time she gets a tummy ache, I say a little prayer on the inside... Please don't let her inherit it!!!
Best wishes to all you parents with children with crohns. Must be very difficult. xoxo

I was 9 and my sister was 12 (forgot to add her in the poll) and we were both diagnosed in 1991 with symptoms that started the year prior.

EJ was dx at age 10 in Dec.09. He had stomach sensitivity for several years prior but nothing like his flare that started his dx.

Mallory was diagnosed Feb 2012 but we were seeing symptoms for sure in 2011 but are wondering if there were issues way before.

Ashley - Age 14 in December 2010. But now looking back we were seeing symptoms and signs for 2-3 years before she was diagnosed.

Angie,
Thanks for starting this. Caitlyn was diagnosed in September 2008 a few days before her 11th birthday. She did complain a lot of stomach aches from the time she was 4-5 yrs old but we never had any other unusual signs/symptoms of crohns. Her onset was actually pretty sudden. SHe came home from sleep away camp and we noticed she kept running to the bathroom. SHe has had some issues with frequent urination in the past so we did not think that much of it. She never complained or told me she had diarrhea for several weeks. She finally told us and we took her to the doctor who thought she caught a bug at camp. They did all the stool cultures and everything was negative. We got a referral to a GI and the soonest appointment was 6 weeks out. She suddenly got sicker and ended up almost collapsing in the bathroom at school we came and took her to the ER. THey admitted her and did a colonoscopy and she was diagnosed.

Hunter was dx Oct 2011 at age 10. Looking back started to trail his twin brother in growth slightly while 9 so probably started then.

Alex was diagnosed at age 8 Sep 2010. He had a fistula in Jan 2010, just after turning 8, but we didn't understand it was Crohn's for awhile. He had a strep infection spring/summer 2009 that may have triggered the decline, at age 7.

My son was diagnosed in Sept 2011 at age 16 but I think he was having symptoms for a couple of years before that - we all agree that he had a 'flare' when he was 13 that lasted a couple of weeks and then went away without being diagnosed.
