For the past few days I have been itchy all over my body. My arms and legs are the worst but my face, head and torso itch too! I haven't changed any soaps, detergents, foods, or meds. At first I thought I was getting hives, but it hasn't turned into to that yet. I don't really have red spots or a rash. I feel like I itch from the inside out.

Has anyone had this? I just took a Benadryl but hasn't worked yet, anything else I can do? What do you think is causing this?:sign0085:

I had that on my legs, especially my shins, and my scalp. I just thought it was dry skin so was using Eucerin on my legs and that helped for a bit, but it always came back. Mine eventually went away...never did find out what it was...

Sorry this hasn't been more helpful!

Yeah...I have that and just recently got a rash with it. My allergist says to use lotion every day. I get the Aveeno for extra dry skin and put it all over. It has helped a lot. I just bought some Aveeno hydrocortisone cream for days I break out in the red splotchies.

I'm wondering if this is just an annoyance of having Crohn's. Extra histamines in the body or something.

Nyx - I LOOOOOOVE your new profile picture, by the way! Cute hair!

Same deal here. Comes and goes. I've been able to rule out all the usual causes.

Gold Bond lotion and hydrocortizone creme for the nasty spots.

Hi Teeny

I itch like hell!
I'm on Pentasa (mesalazine)
You're on Colozal (balsalazide)
Both are aminosalicylates
Both can cause itching!

ALSO about Prilosec, I found this;-
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Prilosec OTC Delayed-Release Tablets:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness); chest pain; dark urine; fast or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or sore throat; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual tiredness; vision changes; yellowing of the eyes or skin.

Thanks Marisa...thought it was time to put a new pic of me...just taken yesterday :)

Sorry for hijaking the thread....

Hi Teeny, yep same as the rest, had it under my armpits and back of my hands and up my arm a bit, and started around my knees. I used the anti- itch Aveeno too and Hydrocortizone. Some advice don't scratch! It didnt last too long on me and it was itchy.

I think the picture is great too!

Thanks for the advice. I have my Goldbond, will have to go get the Aveeno tomorrow. My Benadryl kicked in earlier and put me to sleep. I hate that!

My GI doc said (when I had my rash) that I could take Benadryl or Claritin (generic name: loratadine). Claritin is supposed to be non-drowsy. Just FYI ;)

I went thru that also. I dont know what it was. I think maybe the Pentasa. I am also having sudden joint pain which Pentasa also shows as a side affect. Put tons of lotion on everytime you think of it.
