Starting soon...I am going to try a liquid/soft diet. I am going to shoot for 2 weeks at first and if that goes well, try for 4.

My primary foods will be:

Boost
Ensure
Herbalife Shakes

Chicken Noodle Soup
Beef noodle Soup

Jello
Jello Pudding

Oatmeal

I am also going to create a blog to follow my journey. (And to hold myself accountable.)

Couple of things I want to measure.

1. Am I feeling better?
2. Am I going into remission?
3. Am I losing/gaining weight?

This is going to be one of the more difficult challenges I've ever set forth on myself in my life. Lets face it. Food is good and it's going to be SO hard to abstain but honestly, I just can't take any more Prednisone.

:tank:

good luck kittee!
i know how you feel- i did SCD for a few months and it was truly very hard at times. not just cause your like "ohhh i crave pizza" more so that food is a comfort for everyone whether they admit it or not. for me it was more the mental challenge of not sharing an ice cream dessert with my family, or something like that.
i tried to find my comforts in new things, like a warm cup of tea became one for me. so try and find replace your comfort foods with other things that make you happy ok?
haha and then again maybe that is just me. but i hope the advice helps!

I wish you luck with this and some words of advice. Make sure you are getting all your nutrition with this diet. You may want to add some juices to you diet if you are going on the liquid diet experiment. Some things you absorb better in it's natural state and others you absorb better in the man made state. Get plenty of protein and iron. Check everything you take and add up the calories, protein, fats, carbs, vitamins, and minerals. Just do your homework before you jump into something like this so you do not get malnourished.
Good luck and I'll be praying for you

Kittee,
You may want to add Slim-Fast drinks. My doc said they were basically the same as Boost and Ensure. In my opinion they tasted WAY better than the other two. (Check the label yourself though - don't take my word for it.)
Also, it seems that oatmeal is high fiber or whole grain or something. Doesn't sound easy to digest. I might add some plain white crackers to my soup to bulk it up a bit. What about brat stuff? Bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast? Not liquid, but soft for sure. Those always make my belly feel good.
Good luck - hope you feel better.

Thanks guys. MBH- I think your right about oatmeal. I should have thought of that.
I also love Slimfast. Iwill toss that into the mix as well. The Ensure I hadd for dinner was good tho!

Btw my blog is up!

Seriously folks.... i cant live without solid food and it seems as if I can't find one single diet around here that involves food....

Good luck and let us know how it works for you, I dont think I'd be able to handle it. Just fasting for the colonoscopy fails for me, I have always been a big time eater, just couldn't seem to keep my weight up (wouldn't have anything to do with the daily issues of Crohns now would it? haha)

kittee what are you saying??
that my FACE makes you laugh?!?

lmao jk of course :) thanks! and im glad i could spread some cheer

hahahaha.... I must say kello, you have one of the most positive and simply put friendly pictures on here, can't help but think good thoughts and smile when you see it. A picture is worth a thousand words but yours is worth more like 2000 :)

Yes Kello- Your FACE! LOL J/k.

I agree with MRae, your picture is 2000 words. :) thanks for being such a positive influence around here.

Hey Kittee!! Instead of oatmeal...try some Cream of Wheat...I've always been able to eat that...no matter how bad I feel...and I believe it is below 2g of fibre per serving...it's on the low-fibre no-fibre diet list as very low in fibre. I put about a quarter of a teaspoon of brown sugar in it as well...YUM! Breakfast of champions!

Try cream of wheat instead of oatmeal. It is so finely ground that you can give it to babies. Easy on the tummy.

Daisy I haven't fully started it. I was a goof ball and ate some crap food earlier this week and paid for it. I haven't been so sick in a very long time.

Yesterday I kept myself limited to soups and today I did hummus and pita bread for lunch. I haven't had dinner yet but I'm planning on Ensure.

mmmm...sounds like a delicious dinner! haha! I give you props for even trying...I could not do a liquid diet...well, I could, but I wouldn't be happy about it. People would hate me. :)

Hummm was wondering... I too think Ill be doing this for a while. Has anyone had any issues with Baby food (pablum) for example? I love it :p... my only concern is, if I eat only soft foods and liquids this wont bulk up my stool (ill keep having diarreah) and what do you guys take as supplements for vitamins and nutrients ? My doctor recommended I take Materna (for pregnant woman) but last time I took some It went right through... Any suggestions?
