Hey everybody, my name is Kate! I am an 18 year old college student who has been recently diagnosed with Crohn's in December of 2012. I started getting sick a little over a year ago. Losing weight, painful stomach cramps, fevers, chills and more. I played ball all through high school and it started effecting my performance on the field and as well in school. We have went to several doctors and gone through many, many tests.
We finally found a specialist who diagnosed me with Crohn's (severe). Knowing it wasn't curable was devistating. I have since then been put on Pentasa and Entocort. Still looking at Humira but trying to avoid it as much as possible with all the risks and side effects. He explained with being so young, being put on something so strong provides a higher chance for certain risks such as cancer. My parents have been so supportive through this whole ordeal. It has taken an emotional toll on all of us, but these are the cards I have been delt and I will learn to deal with it.
