I can't stand Crohn's commercials!!

I hate these commercials. I 'd say what I really think buts its very inappropriate.

these are so embarrassing and I feel like everyone thinks we are constantly on the verge of crapping our pants.

Yes, I have seen those commercials too and they annoy me as well! Also, gotta love how they quickly go through all the devastating side effects of these meds. The best one is "may cause NEW or worsening heart problems as well as lymphoma!"

I have seen the Humira commercial now advertising for three different diseases so far( crohns, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Psoriasis. They do seem very similar to the Cialis commercials

I have seen a bunch of Humira commercials and one or two for general crohn's awareness which leads back to some pharmaceutical company website. I think the ads are stupid because they just talk about running to the bathroom and that is really one symptom of crohn's but the major problem is inflammation and destruction of our intestines and the complications that ensue from that.

I saw that commercial yesterday! It was like a lady out running errands and then the world (and bathrooms) are spinning all around her. But then she takes humira and now she's okay and can go hug her friends. Yeah, it said nothing useful or informative about IBD whatsoever. It did list all the really scary side effects of humira though! I didn't like it. I remember seeing commercials like that years ago before I got sick, and I knew nothing about Crohn's then - and the commercials didn't tell me ANYTHING. I still had no idea what it was. Maybe someday there will be a commercial that's actually somewhat informative.

I love how all the actors and actresses on the commercials look so happy and healthy too! They are so fake. And they mention nothing about all the pain that the disease causes either! I dont even know what I have yet, but I know when I am feeling awful( which is most of the time), I sure dont feel like going out at all! I am usually sitting with my heating pad all day in pain..

I wonder if there can be a patient centered approach to educating the public about our illness. I don't want a drug company defining crohns nor a doctor, I want those of us who live with this everyday being the voice and face of our disease.

I don't know about anyone else...but I am pretty sure I am not as well groomed as the actors are when I am sick. And I don't recall spinning in circles as countless bathrooms go by. In the info packet my doctor gave me there was this happy go lucky guy laughing with his friends eating a salad. YEA right. Even in remission a salad can do bad things.

I don't have any probs with the commercials. it's reality for most of us to some degree.

If you have IBD and DON'T worry about toilets constantly, then you are lucky!

Every night I dream about toilets, and in dreams search for them or find then broken, overflowing :stinks:, occupied, or otherwise not usable. :eek2:

PDXDave, I have had dreams about searching for a toilet my whole life! However now the dreams are not the result of a full bladder! Usually they are dirty or in the middle of a public place, lol!
