Hi All,
Just need a rant as Ive woke up feeling crap and tired and cramping and joint pain!

Im just fed up of people thinking and saying when you tell them you have IBD, " Is that irritable bowel sydrome" Some people even think IBD is not a serious illness. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

Feel better now! I suppose when I find out whether its crohns or UC I will feel better!

I get the same thing a lot when I talk to people about my 10 year old daughter. They say Oh irritable bowel, I know --- with that.. its not THAT bad. I have no idea how bad it is, but I know IBD is bad. (((hugs)))

I have crohn's (IBD) and I know some people who are like oh I know exactly what you are going through because I have IBS too. It's annoying to explain that IBD and IBS are NOT the same.

I agree. Most people think it's an occasional tummy ache and running to the loo once or twice.they've got no idea have they ?Sometimes I feel like handing leaflets out with all the symptoms physical and mental.

Yeah it is really frustrating. People don't understand the severity of IBD at all it seems. They think it's just poop problems but really it is very painful and debilitating if left untreated. I also hate when people say you don't look sick or the classic " I wish I has crohns too so I could lose weight quickly like you do. Your so lucky." there is nothing lucky about having crohns. I would rather be chubby then deal with crohnic pain and not being able to digest the nutrients I need to be healthy. Sorry for the rant. I've just been encountering a lot of ignorant people lately who have the tendency to downplay or who focus on my weight loss etc. There needs to be more crohns awareness because it serious and potentially deadly.

I have had people say that to me too and I totally agree with you on that! It's hard to GAIN weight. You have nothing to apologize for. I completely understand how you feel. When I go really sick with the crohns, people would just always comment on how skinny I was or tell me I looked really sickly. AS IF I DIDN'T KNOW ALREADY!! And I feel self conscious about my weight. I think telling someone they are really skinny is just as rude as calling someone fat.
