I've just joined today, i'm in the process of getting some things tested, to see if I have Crohn's. I have had 2 abscesses before, hoping not for anymore. They are so very painful.
I've recently had surgery for hernia, after having incarcerated hernia happen. I would not wish this to happen to anyone. I had the surgery, a few days in hospital. Following week back into hospital after stitches decided to reopen. Am placed on vac machine currently to keep wound clean and heal. Wound nurse is keeping eye on how wound is progressing. The existing opening is 1.5 x 1cm, was 14 cm depth last friday and now is 5.5 cm deep. See specialist in 10 days time, to see how things are going. Hoping this won't turn into abscess. Have no current feelings like an abscess except for a bit of a temp in the afternoon and occasionally feeling a lil cold. No sharp pains or seems of swelling anywhere in the tummy. Have had problems with thrush from the antibotics I was put on by the hospital. Am taking good bacteria one a day hoping that will clear with some topic thrust treatment, to make me better. Go 3 days a week to hospital to get dressings on wound changed. Am taking garlic, vitamin e, echinacea, zinc, silica, vitamin b12 and CoQ10 on a daily basis. Hope to heal up and have no recurrence.

Welcome to the forum puddy!

I hope your wound countinues to heal.

What testing are you having performed to see if you do have Crohn's?

Good luck with the continued recovery and keep us updated on your diagnosis.

Hi Puddy :) And a big warm welcome to the forum. I'm so sorry you['ve found us because you're ill, but you'll find lots of sympathy and support here. Sounds like you're having a pretty rough time at the moment and I hope things start healing up for you really soon. What tests are you having to determine if it's Crohn's or not?

Hello and welcome to the forum I am sorry to hear you having such a nasty time of things :(

What tests have been done so far to get a diagnosis? In addition to the abscess have you had any other symptoms? We do also have a sub forum for fistula's/abscesses that would be worth checking out so you can chat with others who have these: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76.

Please keep us updated on how you are getting on.

So far i've only had abdominal x-ray & ultrasound plus scan.
Due to recent surgery they havent wanted to go inside too much to stir anything up. Only a week ago, wound nurse who is looking after me, wanted a doctor to open up the wound, so it could heal quicker. She is like I said earlier, suspicious that open wound I have at present, has turned in to what she calls a "sinister" abscess, which would be an internal one, not external. I've had a lil bit of the "night sweats" and some temperature late afternoon, at present its early hours and i've been uncomfortable, but dont notice too much temperature at present. I'm going to go to the emergency section at the hospital in the morning and see if I can have the scan that the wound nurse said to have, hopefully they will do it. I saw no point in heading in middle of the night, i'd have to sleep on a brightly lit bed. My daughter in the morning can drive me there, and stay with me. Hoping its nothing too serious.

I will keep you up to date, just up now ready to get organised & go to the hospital. Didn't sleep too well........

Hi There,
Sorry ended up in hospital all day, after hardly sleeping previous night, just got up not long ago, had a nice long sleep.
I found out that I have a haematoma in my stomach, apparently 9cm x 7cm x 5cm thick. Pretty big. Due to current thrush & uti, they have left doing something about the haematoma till next tuesday. They will insert a needle and tube to empty it. I had some blood tests done to see if I had "infected" blood and then it came back that I just had thrush/bladder problems for now. They want them to go away hopefully over the weekend, They made me have a drip for 1 hour of Clarithromycin. Fairly big bag full of antibotics. It seemed to feel like it was "speeding" in. I really felt like crap yesterday. I feel a lil bit better today. They had a look at the remaining open wound that I have that has "vac" system on it, and said I dont have any signs of an abscess, and i'd be as crook as hell, if I did have one. Today just taking it easy, purchased some "cranberry" tablets and some cranberry juice to help and get more goodness into my body. Sorry I didn't get back on to tell you sooner about the latest they've found. Hopefully tuesday will go well and I wont have too many after effects. Have been told that it could get infected once its been broken into. the haematoma is in the still existing "hernia sac" inside me. Have to have blood test at hospital monday, then haematoma drained tuesday.

Sorry to hear this Puddy.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it all goes well for you on Tuesday and keep us all posted on how it goes.

:hang:

Yeah, I hope I dont get any further problems. Will admit been a bit scared of having it emptied on tuesday, but i'm sure they'll know what they're doing. I have had a fair bit to deal with. Thanks so much for your best wishes :)

I went along to hospital got there at 7am, went through at 1.15pm. They went into what was called a "haematoma". It was a mix half way between early abscess and haematoma. Really weird colour. Have drain in still draining. Doctor did drain 190ml out of it........pretty gross. Tummy is feeling lots better........not so stiff and rigid anymore! Day surgery is pretty kewl :)

Nothing worse than having a tummy that feels like its going to bust (very similar feeling to the outside of the tummy as what a balloon fully blown up feels like, not a real great feeling. The doctor was very gentle in all she did at the hospital yesterday. Was wonderful. I was very patient, had to wait 5 1/2 hours for my turn, but was well worth the wait!
