infertile because of crohns

Could anyone who has problems with fertility caused by crohns please contact me on how they were able to cope with this sadness.

I have had crohns for 8 years, i've had 2 operations in this time to take away parts of my intestines and bowel. Because of these operations have have had damage occcour to my tubes as well as the usual impact of crohns on my fertility.

thanks kim

we took 6 years to have our son, in the 15years married, we only had 2 pregnanies our daughter was born too early and didnt survive.
being a new mum and having a bad flare, with my husband working full time is no fun. i would think very carefully about having a family.

According to the doctors at Yale who treated my wife for PCOS, there is no known link between infertility and Crohns or medications used to treat it. They ran tests on me as well and my swimmers were strong and plentiful.

Inflammation in the bowel can damage the fallopian tubes.

Hey Kimmy, I'm so sad to hear your news. Have you explored every avenue? & sought a second opinion? Love. xxx

Hi Kimmy....I'm so sad for you. I know your heart must be broken. Please check out some of the infertility forums. There are so many people who struggle to conceive, I think you would recieve a lot of support there as well.

I'm so sorry Kimmy. I don't have any experience with this or real advice to give, just giving my sympathies. Have they ruled out the possibility of doing IVF? I wish you much luck!

Hi,

I have also had to cope with infertility from Crohn's/endometriosis. We tried to get pregnant for 5 years, and then I was put on Clomid which we affectionately call the "crazy pills" I felt like I was losing my mind, and was even suicidal. I went to a counsellor who told me that anxiety can be a side-effect of taking Clomid, which really helped because now, I knew why I felt like that. We did 4 IUI's which didn't work, and a laproscopy which revealed that I had lots of scarring on my right ovary/tubes from the Crohn's and endometriosis which would explain the horrible PMS over the years. I decided to stop taking the Clomid, and if we were meant to become parents, we would be. We are now on the provincial adoption list, but if that doesn't work out, we've made peace with that decision.

Good luck with whatever road you take!

I was diagnosed with crohns 10 years ago, my disease was very active and I was always in and out of hospital. During 1 admission I had an internal ultra sound to rule out a cyst, they discovered I had scaring to both fallopian tubes and I was told I'd never get pregnant naturally. Now 10 years on and having not used birth control in all that time, I have just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant naturally! So don't give up miracles happen! Good luck to you.x
