Help, Bleeding Internal hemorrhoid, bleeding 4 days now.

Hi, i'm new here so before asking my questions i'll do a little introduction first.
My name is Ben and i've had Crohns since bein a child, practically living in sheffield childrens hosp (ward 4 for those who remember it) resulting in the removal of a large chuck of large bowel and my terminal ileum which in turn has now caused me to have pernicious anemia.

Not had a flare up for a good few years now (10+) but recently (within past few months) i noticed blood on the paper when i wiped, i just thought i'd wiped to hard as it wasnt much.
But now in the last few days i drip blood into the toilet after every BM which i now presume to be an internal hemorrhoid because when i wipe it feels like a bump slightly inside. My wife bought me anusol (could they have called it a worse name really?) and when i apply it slightly inside it feels like a sausagey soft lump so im sure it must be.

How long should it take for bleeding to stop?

I have tried fybogel for 3 days now but it doesnt seem to make things soft enough not to tear past (thats what it feels like, tearing past like a sharp ripping pain when i first start going) and cause bleeding every time i go.
Is there anything better for softening that isnt a lax?

I have ordered some Prep H flushable toilet wipes but they have not arrived yet, so im hoping they help slightly.

What else should i be doing?

Slightly worried the bleeding will affect the fact that i have pernicious anemia, but i hate having to go to the docs (for obvious reasons, im sure a lot of you feel the same)

Any advice?
Thanks.

My family doc prescribed a hemmorid cream for me that you use internally with a small applicator. That will help them heal faster, but I find the applicator a bit painful to use.

Hi Ben, welcome to the forum. I have internal hemorrhoids too and my GI doesn't seem to think they're a big deal. In the past though I have been put on cortisone suppositories, so perhaps you could ask your doctor for something like those. I believe there are also cortisone enemas so you could try those as well.

With the tearing pain you described, I would suspect an anal fissure. I don't experience any pain from my internal hemmies, but sometimes I get fissures (which is literally like a little cut or tear on the anus that can bleed and hurt). I've been taking a tablespoon daily of psyllium husks mixed into a glass of water, and that's helped my stool consistency - I tend towards diarrhea, but psyllium can in some cases help with constipation as well. I get fewer fissures since I've been taking psyllium. If you can't find psyllium itself, look for Metamucil, which is a psyllium-based product.

Good luck, I hope that helps!

I have been using cortisone cream and it seems to have stopped the bleeding (touch wood).

I have also been taking psyllium husks mixed with water twice daily (its called Fybogel) seems to work slightly, but doesnt soften as much as i;d like, just slightly softer than norm.

I was thinking fissure, but after applying cream i can feel the hemmie and what feels like a scab type thing on it, so just a bleeding hemmie i think. Anyway today is fist day without dripping blood, or even any wipe-age blood so hopefully will stay that way.

Thanks for replies.
