Hi everyone I am new to this site but not to Crohns. I have been so lucky to have had very little problems since having a bowel resection in 2010 which took away the active Crohns and structures. Suddenly this week I am having very violent and sudden bowel movements (cannot leave the house) have a sore stomach but don't feel sick, have no temperature and still want to eat, it doesn't feel like a stomach bug. Does this sound like a flare to you guys ? I am not eating a lot and sticking to a bland 'white' diet in the hopes it settles. Advice please.

Have you talked with your doctor about this? It sounds like it could be a possible flare beginning, although it does sound like you've been doing well with the bland diet for starters. Hopefully things will start calming down a bit for you. Please keep us updated.

It's typical for Crohns to start up again from the anastomosis - where you had the bowel resection. Current practice is to try and treat medically if possible because of this.

It's a flare and the sooner you get it treated and the less damage done the better.

Thanks for your replies. I suppose in my heart I knew it was a flare but was so hoping I had picked up a stomach bug that would run its course an go, no such luck. Went to see doctor yesterday who confirmed a flare. Having a blood test today to check inflammatory markers and got a course of prednisone to try to calm things down. I had forgotten how awful this disease makes you feel and am quite scared of going down the sickness road again. I have been so lucky to have been so well for the last 3 years I had been taking it for granted and feel guilty for that. I am very aware that there are so many members of this site who are so much worse than me and would love just a couple of days of 'wellness'. Sorry, rambling now, thanks for the support.
