Andy, I am so truly sorry. I realize this doesn't help with the heartbreak you're going through, except to say I went through very much the same thing once upon a time.

Getting dumped while in a hospital bed (all the while trying to come to terms with a new, very frightening disease) has to be about one of the worst things that can happen to a person.

So I'm not going to say things will get better, or good riddance, or any other cliched platitude, because deep down your heart got whalloped. Just that I'm terribly sorry.

Hey dude I also got dumped right when I entered a major flare up not so long ago and really needed the support of my partner. Big time sucks, the last thing you really need is the hassel/stress of a breakup when you are trying to get well. But like you said you get by you just take one day at a time and put your health first.

Exactly! It's situations like these where people's true nature comes to light. When these people leave your life it makes room for someone better.

I know what you're going through. My girlfriend of 4 years dumped me the week after I was diagnosed.

I hope that in time you will come to realize that it is better to not have people like that in your life.
