This may be tmi:) but just wondering. About something, i had a ileostomy And now a jpouch for almost 2 yrs. And was wondering about being intimate with a partner, i have to admit im afraid to because i dont want to mess anything up on the inside... but cant even remember the last time ive been able to do anyanything. Just wondering if any jpouchers have any issues in that department? Does it hurt? thank you

Well my post keeps getting moved not exactly sure where its at now. Guessing people dont want to talk about it.

sorry, I can't help you out, I don't have a jpouch. Hopefully someone will come along and answer your question.

Hi Maria :welcome:

I don't think that it's that people don't want to talk about it but that most of us don't have the experience needed to help you. J-Pouches are not used for those with Crohn's disease. This is why 2thFairy suggested that you post in the specific group for those with a J-Pouch.

Thank you:) Im registered there its just no replies either. So just thought maybe its something no one wants to talk about. I totally understand its kinda embarrasing:redface:

People on here talk about everything! There's no such thing as "too embarrassing" when you've spent years of not being able to control your bowels.

We have plenty of people coming on for the first time and saying: "Thank goodness. At last somewhere that I can talk about my poo!" :eek2: :ylol2:

Maria, please don't think we don't want to discuss it. Like Susan said it's really used for UC not crohns so most of us here dont know much about them. We have people here with UC and im sure there are members with J-pouches who may pitch in.

My uneducated guess is that following normal healing after surgery that sex is totally fine vaginally. I don't think anal sex would be safe with a J-pouch. I did read an article on that and can dig up if necessary.

For now I definitely recommend the forum as mentioned. I have seen many posts there about intimacy issues in ny own quest for intimacy issues with an ostomy.

I also recommend http://ucvlog.com the guy and girl who run it are great with questions and reply to emails. The guy has UC and a J-pouch, the girl has crohns and an ostomy I believe?

Edit: I dug up this post from a man with a j-pouch http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=62941, maybe you both can connect? Not sure how much that should help you but he is a member here.

Thank you I appreciate this very much. ill look into it..

My pleasure. If you google jpouch intimacy there so seem to be quite a few discussions in various places. I see you replied to some jpouch posts here. Maybe CCFA or UOAA can also direct you to resources or other ppl to get know with jpouches. I'm always here for support to listen if you need and know how fun an ileostomy is.

I appreciate that very much. I don't have many friends so that means a lot. not many people understand my situation so its nice to come to these for support.
