Haven't posted an update for a while, so thought I'd post one today, I have not that long ago started back at work which is in a way good but at the same time bad :ybatty:.

I still haven't been able to get through to my gastro about things that have been going on :( I can't get hold of my IBD nurse which is annoying  I have a horrible feeling that the Aza is no longer working for me but because I can't get hold of anyone and I can't take any time off work I'm kind of stuck with it, I am still taking it as I don't want what happened last time to happen again :(. I am still in the middle of a flare which is really annoying especially if I am taking a med that might have actually stopped working :confused2:

I also went to see a psychiatrist about my problems at home, it went well until she started to ask about me and my mum then I just cried throughout the rest of the appointment :(.

But on a good note I think that being back at work has helped me :) probably because I am back out working with the animal that I absolutely love :D
HORSES!! :heart::heart:

Sorry for the late reply HorseLover!!. I can't recall how long you've been taking Aza. It can take a few months to be at therapeutic levels. Some time has passed since your post, have you gotten a hold of your doctor or IBD nurse yet? Keep bugging them if you haven't. :)

Hope the therapy is a good experience overall. Glad that you're feeling better about going back to work and I hope it works out for you. :)

Hey there, glad to hear from you. Not impressed that your not getting the help and support you need, I agree with Jennifer keep bugging them. :) I hope you get what you need from the therapy sessions, there are days when they will be tough and others when they will make you feel great. :) Please keep in touch

Its always a battle with doctors but do persist. I believe the aza is quite mild and does take a few weeks to work . Iin my experience you gotta a stay on it for a extended period .
Its is extremely frustrating when your not getting answers but remember it is so important to stay calm ,as this will directly effect the insides.
So the way I look at it now is ,I know I got it ,it aint going away so I take the meds and try to enjoy everyday that I feel good. Take the bad days as they come.
I too am in the middle of a bad flare , I fractured two ribs a couple of weeks ago just getting up , doc had no explanation . I was furious and in a lot of discomfort. but i am also very stubborn and have remained at work through it . It does me good to work and fill my days with people( well sometimes).
Hope you get help soon and try to stay calm .

Thanks everyone for the support :) I've been on Aza for about a year now, I am still trying to get through to my doctor and my IBD nurse but so far nothing :(:ybatty: but I will keep trying until I do get through to someone :).

I will keep you posted on what happens :)

HorseLover!! :)

Hi HorseLover. I haven't been posting much lately, but your post caught my eye.
Have you by any chance gained weight since you were prescribed Aza? I went into a flare because my doctor did not increase the dosage after I gained some weight, and the dosage became insufficient. I went to a new doctor, and the first thing he said was, the dosage is wrong. I'm now starting to come out of the flare. For me, food makes a big difference in how I'm doing as well. I can't have any caffeine either. A food diary might help to pinpoint your problems.
It will get better, hang in there!!

My weight has been bouncing up and down for a while now, everytime i do gain weight i just can't keep it up for very long until it goes back down again but recenlty I've lost some weight which is really annoying :( but i am trying to get it back up to what it was :). I have been bugging them for a while now to get them to change my doctor or at least let me see someone else this one time but they just haven't done it :ymad: Food yes definitley makes a big difference there is so much I can't without it making me ill :( I don't drink any caffiene. I definatley think I will have to go back to making a food diary :)

Hi, your comment just caught my eye. I have been having stomach problems for the last week or so and considering going on ensure for a bit. I am on aza and have been for about 15 months. I have put on half a stone recently and was thinking my 100mg may not be enough.

Betty, I don't think half a stone would make much difference. The dosage is 1.4 to 4 mg per kilo of body weight. If your condition has suddenly got worse, you should let your medical team know.
