Kidney infection

Hi all,
hope some1 can advise.
I had my 1st remicade infusion 2 wks ago. it improved my uc by 80% overnight and i feel very lucky.
last wk i noticed my urine was a darker so i mentioned it to the nurse who was doing bloodwork for my 2nd infusion. she checked my urine and said there was blood present.
she then spoke to my gp and she prescribed an antibiotic.
today however i have pain in my back at the kidneys and im supposed to go for my infusion 2moro.
im still on the antibiotics and ive been on them since friday. should be enough time for them to kick in. weird my symptoms have gotten worse.
any advise people. what should i do and should i be worried?

I would get checked, it could be you have kidney stones. Those alone shuldn't stop you from having your second infusion, but you really do want to get them checked out - the pain from a stuck stone in NOT something you want to deal with!!!!!

hi i rang the hospital this morning and they wont take me until whatever it is clears. boooooooo. ill have to see my gp and get a stronger antibiotic and when and if it clears up i can get my 2nd infusion.

its the usual wait and see approach.

This is strange but I had awful pain in my back today when passing urine aswell, and a pain down through me. never had that pain before! but my urine is okay, it doesn't seem any different. maybe just coincidence but i only had my 1st infusion like you, and i am due monday for my 2nd.

must of jinxed ourselves by bragging. lol.
all my tests came back normal. urine and blood. doc thinks its muscular or possibly kidney stones like pasobuf said. so i called the hospital to see if i could still get it.
my Gi said no way can i have my infusion unless i wanted to spend the wkend in intensive care!

yea they are very strict alright apparently you have to be completely healthy everytime, that is what the nurse told me the last day. I had my bloods done today for my next one monday, hope they don't show up anything!!

nope, still getting pain in the kidney region sometimes sharp but always a throb.
have to wait on lab results for further investigation.

hope all goes well and you're healthy for the next 1. did the nurse mention getting the flu jab. my symptoms started to increase again ytd and i have to wait till next fri (if im healthy) for my next infusion. it sucks

I had one last winter around Christmas so I'm probably due that again now. Hope your healthy enough on Fri :thumright:

I have been known to tell little white lies in order to get my infusion..... like when I had NO voice, and was covered in a God-awful rash.....got it anyway with no ill effects.....

Having a temperature is something else though......wouldn't get the infusion if I had one.

I am not sure if this will completely help but...

about 3 weeks ago I noticed my urine got REALLY dark,I started having back pain, and there was blood in it. Normally my urine is either completely clear or just a tinge yellow [which only happens when I drink coffee or coke] So I knew I had to go straight to the doctor... they said the results came back and it grew some strep B ... was prescribed meds and they helped a lot. the doc did say since there is a history of kidney stones in the fam that I may have some kidney stones... and I did end up passing some.. [Talk about painful!]
some stuff that my doctor did tell me to look for is 1. more blood and 2. if my urine gets darker before my cycle and then lighter again because that could mean a hormone issue... :}

my labs came back normal so there is no infection. interesting about the kidney stones though. im wondering is there a link to them and my other problems. could be an answer.
another thing the doc said that the strips they stick into your urine arent always accurate. in this day and age why are they using these useless products. sheesh.:ywow:

i have tons of kidney stones because of the crohns...this week alone ive passed number 2..i have them pains in my back also but i knew what it was ive had blood in my urine for a year now because of them...funny thing is thou after 6 remicade treatments i had to visit the ER the kidney stone pain was to much after a ct scan they found a tumor last month i had it removed..it was kidney cancer apparently the only symptom is blood in the urine...go get a CT scan friend..not tryin to scare you just sharing my experience..

oliver, sorry i havent responded. that is scary. i had a MRI on wed of the bilary tree for pancreatitis thats still undiagnosed. hopefully my kidneys are looked at aswel.
so sorry about your dx. kidney cancer. what now 4u?
