My cousin told me US swimmer Kathleen Baker who won silver in Rio yesterday has crohn's. That's some inspiration :)

Winning, then going to read my book for an hour or so. So far this year,I have read the third and last book in three different triologies (?) The one I'm reading and enjoying now,is the last one of a triology, the first of which was released seven years ago.I have promised myself only to read single editions in future. My brain cells can no longer cope.

BOO!!!
HI ALL I got my beady eyes on you 👀
So you'd all better behave ok!!!

Oh sod it dont behave have fun 😃😃🍰🍺🍷🍦🍬🍟🍕

Haha Not drunk so you had better be worried !!!😨

Can only manage one small drink at a time these days ...old crohns belly dont like it..the miserable git lol 😃😃

Well i know that Ron.. you talk to me so that proves it!!😆😆😆

Aw Doug bless her, so proud of her, tough little cookie that girl. Long may she continue to do well. So pleased for her ☺☺

What an awesome accomplishment for a fellow Chronie! Some days it's all I can do to get through a shower and a day at work.

I don't have crohn's, don't work, and didn't shower today. Just thought I'd tell you all. Haven't turned on the TV or read (any portion of) a book today either.
My head is going to fall off...

Crohnies...apparently spelling isn't on my list of accomplishments for today either. Due for B12 and Remicade shortly. Probably a good thing.

During the night after a visit to the bathroom,I had a "eureka " moment.
In yesterdays post about my reading habit,I struggled to spell "Trilogy" inserting an O where it didn't need to be.Of course I could have googled it,but I like a challenge hahaha.
Hence my eureka moment during the night.......Have I spelled "moment" correctly ???

Winning.

You're fine Carol, got my bloods back. I'm the lowest I've been in sodium which is 133, 135 is the low end of normal. Still waiting in fecal calprotectin test result. HBa1C, ALT, GGTP and platelets all high. I'm eating three meals a day but the pain afterwards isn't nice. We've had frosts all week, snow is on the hills and mountains behind us. It's cold but beautiful.

35C here and it's only morning....thunderstorm promised for later in the day...it's humid now ....
Carol the more you read the more brain cells are increased....don't stop reading...if you don't use it you lose it....
Sandy..feel better soon
Mandy....how's the babe?
Good health to Everyone
Winning......

I'll never stop reading, but I must try to stop buying books for a while,a good while actually.I've never fancied an e-book,which would be a LOT cheaper for me.I just love to browse,it's one of my favourite things to do.I couldn't work in a library or book shop,I'd be sacked after a week.I read in the paper the other day that fear of losing their sight is the biggest fear for most people, ranking above alzhiemers.
Feel better soon Kirsty, you're an inspiration and a star.Have you got the chooks yet?

You will probably catch me browsing in either a book store or library.

The chooks are next door although 5 keep wondering in my back yard and nest in the trees. Today I do the pen area so hopefully by end of day they are in the pen.

would you like me to save my empty egg boxes for you ? I mean it's only right when I would like to order 1 doz.per week. Please note that I have placed the first on-line order,so first come, first served......I'll get the pan on.

Geographically I am closer than the UK therefore my order for 12 should be first in line
Kirsty...and hope you will soon better than your labs...and..er..my frying pan is ready.
I find it very hard to resist a good book bargain Carol, and nothing can take the place of sitting in the shade of a green leafy tree and reading...except maybe a fresh poached egg on toast with a quality cup of tea.....
It is possible to find most of my favourite books on the web and I will read the freebies.
Winning....

I think she might be mentioned in the General IBD Discussion section.

Went to the G.I. yesterday for a followup. I am still battling diarrheah. I thought the abdominal pain had gone away but I found out differently when he poked around my abdomen. He put me on a 10 day course of Flagyl. And I thought my flare was done. It is just smoldering beneath the surface.

What Doug kindly didn't tell you is that the GI thinks Doug got some bug from my family's cooking. (I think we both did.) No more group dinners with my family.
And Hooray! My headache is a lot better today (tho I still have some other symptoms.)
Kirsty, I thought of you the other night when my blood sugar went extremely low. I haven't had it that low in years, but that is much better now too.
Hmmm, I wonder if my brain cells can multiply by walking past the stacks of books I have in my house?
FB_IMG_1470873970423_zpshes86qmt.jpg

Worth a try Sandy and even if you open one book and scan it ever so briefly...you've earned some extra brain cells....glad to see you are feeling a little better.Do it often enough and voila! A brand new brain....
Kirsty...did the chickens come home to roost yet?
Flagyl is one of the best antibiotics Doug...feel better soon.
Winning.....

Mandy...the Olympic GB winner is Kathleen Baker.......we should all be very proud of her.....
I also get those annoying forgetful moments...such is life...
Winning..""..

I'll send you a pic when the ladies are in. It maybe Sunday as I am slower than I used to be. I had pain, so had to pace myself.

My brother just had a baby girl!!! He's my cousin actually, but we're very close. It was a geriatric pregnancy, sis-in-law is 45+. But everything went well :) Ah I can't contain myself today, so happy. Must get to Virginia soon :)

So happy for you and your family Madhu! Congrats!

Kirst, in honor of your new life, I thought I'd show a pic my "baby sister" who raises chickens, goats, sheep, etc. recently put on Facebook. She also built her own chicken coops, etc. This is her very first selfie, I won't tell you where the animals in the back were going, but it wasn't the park. 😨

Aw,Sandy,Did you really HAVE to ? You could have said sis had just bought them to keep her lawn trimmed.

Thanks for the UK swimmers name folks..

Sandy n Kirsty hope you both get a breather from your woes. Big hugs 💕

Madhu aw how delightful, bet you cant wait to see the baba... such lovely news 🍼💕

Love n hugs to all :ghug:

Just had three shots to try to break the migraine cycle; toradol for pain, Phenergan for nausea, and dexamethasone, a steroid, even tho my headache itself wasn't so bad. Keep getting the migraine auras, nausea and sensitivity. Hoping it works.

Praying it gives you relief Sandy. 💕💋

I'm praying it gives Doug relief. I've been doing nothing but snapping at him. :D
The headache, as said, as of yesterday has been a lot better. The eye problems and sound and light sensitivities, another matter. Besides another small bout of holes in my vision for just a few minutes this a.m. (the dreaded aura that usually tells me another headache coming), at the doc's office I wanted to break every fluorescent light in the clinic and to tell him and everyone to quit shouting, tho I knew they weren't. I don't restrain myself as well around Doug. (Tho no violence involved.)
I'll win this one for Doug, but we got a joint prize already after the plumber came to fix our one and only broken shower. (Does anyone know any good electricians now?)

Sandy.Come out come out where ever you are !!!
Nobody puts baby in the corner..not even baby herself 😉
Feel better soon hun.💕💕

I'm here Mandy.......been car-booting,buying not selling.I have a loft full of good stuff, that would make a good sale, but hubby's not bothered.I donate clothes and little stuff to the local charity shops.but there's blinds, rugs, lamps, footstools, coffee tables etc.in the loft.I'm surprised the ceiling hasn't come down.....yet.

80yr old Ram Rati of Lucknow India, eats 1lb (450grm) of sand every day.
She has been eating sand before each meal for the past 40yrs and says it helps her to fight old age and stomach problems..........

Sounds like you may have a small fortune in your loft should you sell it Carol

Yes it is stupid o'clock in the morning (in uk),but when the toilet calls...

Better order the sand in then...or not !!!

The Indian lady probably eats Demerara sugar...looks and feels like sand in the mouth.
Cannot believe it's real sand....she would obstruct...and some of us know what that's like,!!
You have interesting boot sales Carol...but why buy when you have so much?
I have been known to do the same thing so I think I know the answer.
Feel better Mandy....you too Sandy....
Tornado alley near us today but it did not hit our area thank goodness...so destructive...
Always reminds me of that scene in the Wizard of Oz...
The sun will come out Tomorrow.......
Winning......

I'm not in my corner anymore, Mandy, haven't been all day, but very much appreciate your kindnesses.
And I have enough things in my basement for a large "garage sale," but don't have the wherewithal to organize it, so I need to give to charity myself.
On other subject, my mom said she used to eat dirt as a girl and I know ate paper well into adulthood but never had an obstruction (but obviously some form of pica, I believe because she was often anemic).
I'm feeling totally better from migraine, just had a busy day with foster kiddo, then picked up Doug's brother who took the bus here from Vegas. We went out to dinner, then took foster kiddo home 40 minutes from here, then back home. (Second time to Salt Lake for Doug because had to pick up Dave.) Been a good day, but long. Watching Olympics now. Dave will be here for a week.

Hey there, I've been busy and nearly finished the chicken ranch. I live on Dixie street so I'm calling my ranch "Dixie Chicks" I love the group too. I'll post pics soon. No hens in yet as by the time I'd finished they had all roosted for the night in the trees. So hopefully when I get back for the Naki they will be in their home. Hey Trev, I'm in town Monday night to Saturday morning. Let me know if we can tee up.

Ok, now who knows about fecal cal protection results? I got mine the range here is 0-50 and I am 165. I am thinking this is a substantial crohns flare and could be behind my hypoglycaemia, low sodium and low copper, especially if it's in my duodenum and small intestines like last time. I'm sure my GI will be in touch this week and we will have a plan to find out where I'm flaring. Then we need to decide on treatment options, I'm assuming that I have now got antibodies to Humira. I found this out yesterday, so it's still pretty raw!

Oops we crossed in our posts Trev, so you'll be up river, good luck white-baiting.

KIRSTY,love Dixie Chicks......can I just ask how old these girls are and are they still layers ? Calprotectin.....over here up to 60 is classed normal.I think mine was 3 or 400 last time which indicates inflammation.Looks like maybe you have low level inflammation. But there are a lot of people on the forum with levels way over 1000.

What do you call a hen looking at a lettuce ?............A chicken sees a salad.....winning

Trysha....the car boot sales we visit are all out doors during the summer, and it's nice to wander round seeing what's on offer. It's very interesting, seeing stuff from your childhood, and being classed as retro or in some cases ,antique.Yesterday's sale was up the coast at a fishing port and the sale is on the quayside.I bought a new trivit (still in the wrapper) for 25p,two horse racing books for Geordie next door, for 20p each,a big "Believe it or not" book for 50p (hence the sand story) and Les bought fish food for £2,which would have been £8 in the pet shop.
We don't go very often, just once a month or so.But who doesn't love a bargain ? My house isn't cluttered though, because I get fed up with stuff, and pass it on.I get pleasure from doing that........but alas, the loft is another story.

Skipped the sales even when I was out and about early Friday morning (best pickings) as I've already made two trips dropping off items to the local thrift store and I see a third in the near future. Couldn't justify bringing anything home when I am trying to downsize and get rid of accumulated clutter. Kinda sad about what good bargains I might have missed but rather proud of my self control.

Fecal Calprotectin....Normal....less than 50 micrograms
Border line....51-120 micrograms
Abnormal...greater than 121 micrograms
Results may fluctuate as disease activity fluctuates
The test is indicative of an inflammatory process
Hope this information is helpful Kirsty....wish I could be there when the chicks come in to roost.....
Carol..I was very interested to read of your adventures into boot sales and it sounds as if you can get some really good stuff. You are right about getting out and about doing this and I would love to come on some of your expeditions.
Sandy good to see you are feeling better..hope it will stay that way for you...
Good luck with your tests Ron

We are not that far apart geographically Ron.....I am in Ontario ,Canada...you are in Virginia.......USA.........just across the border as the crow flies..
It's the humidity that is so tiring...hard to get along with it.
Cold drinks kill me......
Winning......

Where Doug's brother lives near Vegas, it was 109° today, and will be 112° tomorrow, and recently they hit 120° (the same day Death Valley in California hit 134°). I could never live where Doug's brother lives. But I find it harder to breath in slightly lower temps and higher humidity like where you live Trysha and Ron "down the road" so to speak. I also know you are having higher than normal temps. Stay safe in that heat.
And tho we don't have whitebaiting here, Doug has next week off work so we are going trout fishing at one of our favorite fishing holes tomorrow in the higher elevations and cooler mountain air (with his brother, of course).
Stay or get well everyone.

Thanks Trysha. The chicken transfer is this coming Saturday and Sunday. It should be a laugh. I'll take pics of us trying to catch and herd chickens.

I think my body has finally fought and developed antibodies to humira then.

I'm just at the airport waiting to fly to Taranaki. Won't see the mountain as its pitch black. I fly home Saturday morning.

Life is about to get interesting in more ways than one. Steve and I will be adopting a cavoodle puppy. It was just born last Wednesday. I'll send pics when I get them.

Hi all you busy folks...iv not had updates again 😕

Had my little chap yesterday 😆. He is doing well, smiling more and sticking his tongue out..
Hope you are all good today and keep safe everyone.
Happy fishing to the fishermen/woman..dont hook anything that big it could pull you into the water😃
Big hugs n love :ghug:

Cavoodle pup,I am sooo envious. It's over 18mth since our little lad went over Rainbow Bridge, and I've never stopped missing him for one day.
The girls will have settled in by the time he's ready to move in,and you'll have loads of fun
with him (?) the girls and the cats.Poodles are very intelligent, about 3rd or 4th on the list, and Cavaliers are gentle little souls. But puppies are puppies,no matter what breed.
Good Luck.

Kirsty...I will look forward to seeing the pictures.
It's too bad about the Humira but it can happen
Mandy....I wonder where the babe learned to stick out his tongue....???
Of course it could be considered an attribute to allay the "stings and arrows of outrageous fortune" in later life.....
Carol I know how you feel..it is now ten years since I lost my little one to old age and cancer....she was acutely intelligent as poodles are. She was a miniature at 26 lbs weight.,and pure black.Still miss her every day...so hard to let go..
I would just love the one Kirsty is getting...but now live in an apartment and it would not be fair to the dog.
We can look forward to sharing Kirsty's puppy if she will let us
Winning.....

Hi all... heres a smilily face to brighten your day 😃
Heres some flowers to brighten your table 🌹🌻🌸
Heres some love to fill your heart 💕💞💝

If none of that helped you feel better ...
Heres a drink 🍸🍷🍻🍹

:ghug: 💋💕

Can't wait to see pics, if you can get them, of herding chickens Kirsty. :) Maybe soon we can see little Jaxon again too Mandy?
As for our little furry friends, tho sometimes I wonder if they are worth it, I don't know what we'd do without them either. It is so hard when they go, tho.
Fishing was good today. Dave (Doug's brother) hadn't been fishing in many years and caught a couple decent sized rainbow trout for that lake. I also managed to catch a rainbow and my first Brook trout ever. Doug managed to keep his brother geared up and cast out in the water as his brother had really forgotten how, as well as taking the hooks out of the fish for me. (I'm a wimp.) It was a good day. After spending about four hours in the car today, Dave announced that he wanted to go tomorrow to "the basin," the area most of Doug's dad's extremely large family are from. It's about three hours each direction. Not going to happen.

Love your pics Sandy they are always beautiful..
Yes you can see Jaxon if i can send you some to post for me again. If its not to much trouble for you...shame im so hopeless at the posting pics game 😕
Happy fishing 🐟🐠

I got an appointment in the mail for the hospital to see gastro on 28 September that's fast for our public system given gastro got results Monday and appointment arrived Tuesday.

Hen herding will be a laugh!

Puppy will need lots of loves and needs to be socialised in person and on social networks happy to share the loves and trials of having my first ever dog with you all, I know I'll need your experience and help [emoji1]

Nice pics Sandy :) Your photos are always beautiful!

Can't wait to see the little one, Mandy :)

Good luck with your dog, Kirsty. It's going to be loads of fun :D

It's terribly hot here. I'm dreading Vegas in 2 weeks. Pretty sure we're going to get burnt. Bad, bad planning from my part!

I'm having one of those days when I can't think of anything inspiring to say.
So I'll come back later and try again............'til then,be content and as well as you can.

You're inspiring, Carol, just being here.
Here are a couple new pictures, with a couple older pictures of baby Jaxon. I think Mandy (maybe?) sent more than this, but I'm having technical difficulties.
I'll be back tomorrow, have to attend to some other things now. Hugs to all. (I love the pic of the proud parents.)

Ron, do what you have to to be able to get the nutrients you need, whether you have to eat bland foods or not for awhile. Keep up with your doc appointments and testing, and be assertive with what you know your body needs. Hugs and prayers sent your way.

Hugs Ron. Baby Jaxon is such a handsome gentleman Mandy! Fish, chickens, puppies and babies. What a community we have. Well wishes to all.
