Glad you're enjoying reading Sandy.I cannot imagine life without books. One of my greatest fears is losing my sight. As I have two or three eye problems it's possible that I will struggle in the future, but I'll worry about that if or when it happens.
It's another bank holiday this weekend, the last hols until Christmas, except for half-term in October. So as usual we're staying away from the madding crowds.Might go somewhere quiet with the bikes tomorrow,if there is such a place at this time of year.

Remember peeps.your mind needs exercise just as much as your body does......so think about jogging every day.

I agree about books.[emoji2]

Sandy..it is a wonderful recovery from the stroke that you are still able to read...speed of reading is of no consequence...the important fact is the ability to read and enjoy. and retain
you can do all of those things.
The brain is an amazing creation...the more you use it the more it will recover and produce more neurones essential for function.
Onward and upward.

Glad you excelled with the gift certificate Carol .....hope you had a good time doing that.
By the way the male moorhen performs a zig zag dance when courting so I expect his zig zag swimming could be a continuation to hang on to his wife....I really enjoyed your description it is so lovely to chance upon nature scenes.
I have been touched by your kind remarks...thank you.....I did not realize my short absence
would be noticed.
Mandy there are times when I could join you with a gin but I don't like alcohol and it definitely does not like me.i do like freshly made lemonade from the lemons.
When life gives us lemons... make lemonade....
Good wishes for speedy return to health Doug and Ron
Winning....

Thanks, Trysha.[emoji4]

Nobody notices me gone [emoji22] [emoji22] [emoji13]

I did too! And I noticed Trysha also! We need all of our crohnie family here (even if I'm just a party crasher). It's just about time for your Vegas trip, isn't it Madhu? (And where is Grumpy and Dave? Shanen and Trev always turn up, eventually.)Things are finally starting to cool down (some) out west here, I think you'll be ok. Madhu. I wish Vegas were just a little closer, it would be fun to meet you. (It's about 7 hours from here.)
Yes, Carol and Trysha, I am feeling blessed that I have been able to read again, and yes, the brain is truly remarkable in what it can do. I used to read a lot myself (albeit slowly, as mentioned),and was greatly discouraged when even several years after my stroke, I still couldn't follow a plot without more effort than I had brain cells, it seemed. It has only been recently that I have been able to read again, and what a pleasant surprise. The plasticity of the brain is indeed a remarkable thing.
Ron, I sure hope they figured out what is going on with your leg. That is a little disconcerting.
Because we are so behind in laundry, shopping, housework, etc. we decided to take another non reality day and go fishing again instead. :ylol2:

:) I need you guys too. I was just kidding, I'm sure you noticed me gone. I'm never really gone. Yes Sandy, we are leaving on Wednesday to Vegas :) Wish I could meet you too, always a next time! I'm sure you are also dealing with a lot now with Doug's flare. How is Allie doing now? I am looking forward to the trip. Vegas and Arizona. I just hope the sun shows mercy on us while we're there [emoji91]

Doug says he thinks his flare is doing better (since he started budesonide). I think it is starting to calm also. I hope the heat is good to you too. I'm almost jealous of your trip as we have family in the suburbs of Vegas (Doug's siblings), and I have several family members in Arizona (from Mesa where my brother lives to a small, ugly mining town where my niece is a mining engineer, Morenci, southeast of Phoenix and northeast of Tucson). I also have a sister and a couple nephews and their families in Thatcher, Az, a rural area near an (American) Indian reservation where my sister taught school for over 30 years.
Allie is pretty stable right now, as long as we don't give her too many table scraps. I hope you and yours are ok.

Nobody notices me gone

Not true Madhu...I did remember you and Shanen when writing my last post..
but for some reason it was left out...possibly because the post was so long
I did not want you to look like an afterthought.
Your trip sounds so exciting wish I was there..could use a holiday as well as a jackpot.
Have a good safe holiday...keep us posted...looking forward to your cheery notes

The budesonide has put me on the upswing, and my GP agreed to put me on a diabetes med for the duration of my course of the steroid, hopefully 3 months.

Aw, poor Shedward! But you're a wise lady not to feed him.
With that, I'm going to go get something to eat. And wait to be cured from all my ailments.
And win.

Just woke up. Packing for road trip to Wairoa for my Auntys funeral. It's about a 5 hr drive. Mum and dad coming too. She had a herniated bowel and died a few days after the operation.

To be honest Ron im not sure if it could be related or not. I suggest that you ask at your appointment. It could be possible but best to ask n see i think. 💕

On a quick google it seems that crohns is more likely to affect the gallblader than vice versa. But that was just a quick look as you can see by the timeline in the posts.
Still ask in check tho Ron 💕

Howdy Doug ☺💕

Hey Mandy, great to see you. Congratulations on the new car. Which one are you getting? :)

Carol...as per your advice I have been hitting my head against a brick wall to exercise my brain....it does not work very well...except to induce headaches....any solutions?
Shedward regards you as his surrogate mother and hopes for a handout like a wayward child
I would give him a little something and tell him to go home.Birds are very intelligent and he will likely understand....
Kirsty..so sorry to hear your sad news...sending prayers and good wishes for safe journeys.
Mandy....I very much doubted that any alcohol would agree with any crohnie......Great that you now have a car but don't go mad with it...no racing or honking buses......I have download trouble too...
Lovely to see our babe making such good progress.
Doug..great to hear you are feeling better...hope it continues
Sandy it's a good thing to turn your back on chores once in a while and enjoy yourselves at the beach
Hi Madhu ..I see you are keeping up with us...how's the holiday...

Now for something entirely different........
Summer poetry.

-Here bees from blossoms sip the rosy Dew
And since Alexis knows no sweet but you
Some God conduct you to these blissful seats
The mossie Fountains and the Green Retreats
Where-e'er you walk, cool Gales shall fan the Glade
Trees, where you sit shall crowd into a shade
Where-e're you tread the blushing flowers shall rise
And all things flourish where you turn your eyes
Taken from The Second Pastoral..Alexander Pope...1709.

Hi Trysha, good to see you too :) Packing vigorously now, just finished shopping. We were looking for shorts and swim wear, but the stores have already started putting out winter clothing. So we had to munch on the clearance racks. Hope you are in good health!

Hi Madhu
There are some good bargains around with the end? of summer...no sign of a cool down here yet.
I thought you were already away....enjoy your packing and travels...bon sejours

Just woke up. Packing for road trip to Wairoa for my Auntys funeral. It's about a 5 hr drive. Mum and dad coming too. She had a herniated bowel and died a few days after the operation.

So sorry to hear about your Aunt. Safe travels and hugs to you and your family.

I'm sorry about your aunt also Kirst. Travel safely and hope you enjoy your family time in spite of circumstances. Many hugs.
Trysha, please try to not beat your head against the wall anymore. You've had enough.
Wishing all the rest of you well too.
(And Madhu, I'm afraid I led you astray. It's going to be hot in Vegas all next week. Vegas is known to have good sales on clothes tho, if you don't finish all your shopping at home. )

Hey Mandy, great to see you. Congratulations on the new car. Which one are you getting? :)

Thanks Madhu..im getting Ford fiesta zetec 1.0 litre. In red. Only one more sleep hehehe 😆

Take care everyone. Safe travels to those on their travels. 🚗
Big hugs n much love 💞💝:ghug:

Sad news about your aunties passing Kirsty,we're thinking about you me darlin'.

Mandy, never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly.

A recent study has found that women who carry a little bit extra weight
live longer than the men who mention it.

Haha Carol...so true!!!
I wont drive faster than my angel can fly hun. Just had my test drive... lovely drive nice n effortless.
Hope to pick it tomorrow night . Oh happy day 😃😃😃

Big hugs to all 💜💛

Can I win just once please? I need to have some accomplishment to my day. I'm flaring, was in the hospital all last week, have been off of work for 2 weeks and my GP just recommended that I be off for another 1-2 weeks at least. I feel very weak, fatigued, depressed, frustrated. I just need to win for like 2 minutes.

Mandy, congrats on the car! :)

Aw Cat girl so sorry you are having a rough time sweetheart. I really hope you feel bettet soon hun.
Thanks on the cograts oh boy do i need this car my old bod struggling with publuc transport these days lol.
💕

Cat, I think you are always a winner because you are such an inspiration to others.
Mandy just won her prize too I'm happy for you Mandy :). Everyone, stay off the sidewalks! (and out of the woods:rof:)
Madhu is getting her vacation aka holiday starting tomorrow so winning
Shedward probably found a bit to eat so is happy again, which will give Carol a holiday from his calls...
I hope Trysha is staying out of hospitals, etc., and wins with her poetic disposition.
Ron, I'm willing your leg and tummy to behave themselves and let you win for awhile.
Kirsty, I hope all is going smoothly for you in your travels and you find some peace in your family.
Trev is probably fishing, so winning.
Shanen is lurking, and winning silently. :)bigwave: Hi!)
Doug is married to me, so winning. :D

Well, I've put off the chores as long as I could. Time to put "Wuthering Heights" down, turn off the television, put my phone away and get to work. My, that bed looks mighty fine. . .

Hi Sandy! Congrats on the new car Mandy! Hope you're feeling better Ron. Greetings to all!

Thank you everybody. Sandy, I don't feel like an inspiration. I feel like a whiner. I've been flaring since July 22nd and I feel like I've just been whining continuously since that time. I think I have turned a corner in this flare, finally, though. I seem to have an actual appetite today. I'm sticking to EEN, but I sure could go for pizza. It'd probably land me back in the hospital though! :p

Cat, I have been watching Chopped on Food Network right now. It is a cooking competition and the main food is pizza and one of the competitors has Crohns Disease.

Welcome to LOWs Cat,I hope you start to feel better soon.

I'm off for a badly needed hair cut,a look round the shops, then meeting hubby for a look in at the auction rooms to see if there's anything I want to bid for at tomorrows sale.
I should really send all the stuff in my loft to be auctioned, maybe one day. Then we'll walk back home alone the river.By then I'll be doubled over with back ache,so I'll not move from my sofa until bed-time. Les is getting himself fish & chips for lunch,so no cooking today.......Winning !!!

I'm trying to be productive today. My cousin had a baby in June and he's going to be the only baby in our family for probably quite some time (none of the rest of us are interested in having kids right now). So we're all doting on baby boy quite a lot. I've been working on making him a patchwork quilt for xmas. I got all the squares cut out and I'm just starting to pin & sew them together. I'm going slowly, I've only got 4 squares sewn together so far (there are 80 squares total!). But it's good to feel like I'm able to do something worthwhile.

I have a great admiration for arty-farty folks.I know Sandy enjoys doing "stuff".I on the other hand struggle to sew a button on properly and I can't cut fabric in a straight line for toffee. That's not to say I don't do it,just that I do it badly.Everything else I do is average.

But I do win very well.
Have you got your wheels Mandy ?

These days I'm just "farty" and not "arty." With that eloquent win, I need a nap. Just got back from neurologist who confirmed I still have some brain cells. 😴

Hi ya all..
Finally picked up the car this evening 😆😆😆
Sandy has a good point beware all peeps on the road 😃

Big hugs n love to everyone of you wonderful people. Keep safe n keep as well as poss 💕💖💝💋💋💋

I was told mine were hiding as well. :D:D:D
Enjoy your newfound freedom. I'm really happy for you! 💛

P.S. As a general note, and as I ever so slowly read "Wuthering Heights" then bore you all with my progress day-by-day, I thought I would add that I don't think my family is so dysfunctional after all.
P.P.S. My mother survived her first tornado scare the other day after moving to her new state of Indiana. The warning sirens were going off and she knew she was supposed to shelter in an inner closet, but told me she opened her closet, peered in and said to herself, "naw, if I'm going to die I'm going to die," then shut the door and did her crossword puzzle. :ywow:

Glad your Ma got through the tornado scare..must say id say the same i love a crossword puzzle ☺
Thanks Sandy, its great just had my extra hour in bed☺
Only thing is this car has that many whistles n bells it will take the next 3yrs to suss it out n then it will be time to change it 😃
Hope you have a goodnight and a good day 💕

Hi Cat aw how lovely i bet the blanket will be beautiful. No point rushing as a better job will be done with a little more time taken.💕

I'm definitely not rushing to finish the quilt, it doesn't need to be done until xmas so plenty of time. And I don't have a lot of energy so I'm just sewing together a few squares at a time anyway. I think it'll be good, though. I'm trying to do blankets for xmas for a good chunk of the family this year (I already have crocheted 2 blankets with plans to crochet at least one more before xmas). We're supposedly going to have a nice autumn but then a cold and snowy winter according to current predictions. So everybody gets blankets! Winning! :)

My mother-in-law was an avid crocheter and very patiently tried to encourage me to have a go,bless her.I did knit a few sweaters for my son when he was young, and there were so many dropped stitches, they looked like they were crocheted...does that count ?

I don't even know how to knit, I only crochet, so I would be impressed with any knitting! Definitely counts!

Sewing and knitting....we have a lot in common Carol.....how's Shedward?
Cat...your blankets sound lovely
Mandy....lots of fun with your new car...each time we changed ours we had to get used to all the array of new bells and whistles....as long as it's driveable. ...enjoy it.
Kirsty..hope things are as well for you as can be expected and that the travelling has not been too tiring.
Sandy...your brain cells will increase and improve with time and proper exercise....hope you are feeling better.
Ron and Dave hope you are improving..
Winning."".......

How are YOU Trysha ? Shedward and his nest mate have been making pests of themselves for a day or two. They're quiet until the parents show up then start squeaking fit to bust, asking to be fed.Although the parents will feed them on occasion until next years breeding season starts.Rufus and his mate are starting to chase them away. They all must start thinking about the winter and it's survival of the fittest. We do supplement feed "our" two,but they must look after themselves.I mean,we do live two or three wing flaps from the river/coast.I do make bird cakes for the little birds, but we have to put them in the shed overnight because the local pigeons would clean them out in the early morning. It gets like the Hitchcock film round here some days.

Trying to wake up win. Have a great day y'all.

Hello from Arizona, everyone! We are on the way to Grand Canyon. As expected, it's very hot here but we are kinda going along with the heat. It was a lovely flight yesterday. There are mountains every side we turn! Hope you all are well.

Here's a pic of the hoover dam!

20160901_103728.jpg

Wow what a great pic Madhu.. hope u have splendid time 💕

Aw Sandy look at Allie dog.. i just love her ,the little munchkin 🐶🐶. I used to knit n crochet now i dont fink id have a clue where to start.

Trysha my last car was that long back it only had the same refinements as the flintstones car 😆
Yes its a lovely drive i can find my headlights n indicators so iv half a chance lol.
Carol Shedward loves you, n dont want to leave you !!

Love n hugs to all :ghug:

Knowing where indicator lights and headlights are is 99% of the battle, Mandy.
Fun pic, Madhu. Did you take the tour? I've done that a few times and it never ceases to amaze me. But not nearly as much as much as the Grand Canyon. Enjoy!
Our beloved Utes are playing the first game of the season.
Winning!

MANDY...(Penelope Pitstop) the other 1% is the BRAKES !!!! Safe journeys always.

One of the country's leading dermatologists was nominated "sportsman of the year" by a group of schoolboys who favoured his conclusion that 'skin diseases in civilized countries due to excessive washing are commoner than those attributed to dirt'

I put aside my quilt and I'm scrapbooking today. I was watching a Japanese drama earlier, and it really made me miss Japan (I went to Japan earlier this year and it was the best trip ever). So I'm finally scrapbooking my Japan souvenirs - ticket stubs, postcards, menus, stickers, origami paper, etc. And I want to go back to Japan! Now that would be winning!

Waiting for the long weekend to start here in the US. Wishing all well and winning. For a brief time. 😊

Hi peeps ..just saying hi n sending hugs ..
Carol iv found the brakes !!wow its so much better now i can stop lol😆

💖💝💋💋

I don't know if I was dreaming about it or if I actually felt pain last night. I think it is better

I ran out of glue dots so my scrapbooking got put on hold. Thank goodness for online shopping in a flare! I ordered more and they're arriving tomorrow so I can continue scrapbooking then. Today my dad is coming for a visit and he's going to walk my dog for me since I haven't had the energy to. That feels like winning!

We are now back in Vegas after a tiring 2 day road trip. SO much driving! Grand Canyon was beautiful but we got some pictures just in time. It started raining and the whole canyon was foggy after a while. Couldn't see a thing. But we got a nice view of the North rim while driving down to antelope canyon next morning. And the people are so lovely and kind here in the southwest (Not Vegas though). I simply loved antelope canyon. It was my dream destination, and in all the excitement I forgot to buy a souvenir magnet :( Pictures coming up!

Oh Sandy and Doug, surprise!! :)

We drove through Utah, crossed the towns Kanab and Hurricane. I was completely thinking which place you guys are in, but couldn't get even a little bit of network on my phone to ping you.
