Hi Carol I am in process of scanning airfares right now...think I'll have to travel business class so that I can keep my leg straight...it's such a long flight and I don't want any blood clots.and I am not too lucky lately with health issues...Apart from first class I don't think any of the other seats allow legs to be straight.
Usually I find the lowest price bargain but I'm safer out of that league right now.
Have to invest some of my meagre savings bite the bullet and get the high price ticket...why are they so crazy high prices anyway.
For safety reasons I won't put the dates.
I have been getting pesky phone calls and had 20 in the space of a few hours...five to fifteen minutes apart, same number...complained to the phone company they stopped them ,the next day was peaceful but third day more calls similar number different area codes.
Quite crazy. The phone company does stop them though and now police have been notified.
Hopefully it will put an end to it all.i don't want to have a new phone number if it can be avoided.
Now for something entirely different........
Used to be able to find elegant fashionable clothes but now the little boutique and fashion
stores seem to have disappeared...chain stores taken over selling prison style garb....well it seems like it to me.
Can't wait to do some shopping in UK 🇬🇧....there are some lovely places to explore...and I have an army of young willing drivers to get me to different places.
Now I am going to make some lemon marmalade wish you were all here to share it.
Hope you are feeling better Kirsty ,Chris and Ron
Have a good day Everyone.
Winning.....

Thanks for your newsy update Trysha...That phone business must be driving you mad.For a good few months my hub.Les was getting calls and txts for a Phillip Dunn.and we're not Dunns. No matter how many times he tried to tell the callers he wasn't P.D. the calls continued, and although he's a reasonably mild mannered chap,he did start swearing toward the end.But I added his no.to my TPS and it stopped eventually.I agree with you about not wanting to change your no. We don't have a house phone now, and when you're expecting calls you're duty bound to answer. As to nice clothes, well I'm a casual smart (mostly) girl.I was in M&S yesterday for jeans and they have some really nice summer clothes in.Boutiques are beyond me I'm afraid. You've got lots to look forward to and I hope you find your sisters as well as they can be.You're quite a bunch, aren't you,health-wise.

I earned my crown today. :D I was looking online a little while back at fancy costume crowns and tiaras. There was one in particular that I just loved, but I couldn't justify buying it because nobody actually needs a crown. But then I thought, maybe when I pay off one of my debts, then I will get myself a crown to celebrate.

So today is payday and I was finally able to pay off the last of my medical debt! Last year I had 3 ER visits, several tests including an MRE, and of course a 5-day hospitalization. I've been paying that stuff off ever since (insurance paid most of it, but I still had a deductible and out of pocket expenses until I reached my out of pocket max). I made the last payment this morning! It's all paid off! Woo hoo! So the first thing I did afterwards was order myself the fancy crown (it cost a whopping $20). I am so happy, you guys! Now I just have 3 debts to go (credit card debt, hubby's student loan, and our home mortgage). I'm going to wear my crown and be the queen of paying off debt! :)

Ah,that definitely deserves a celebration Cat. I hope you have your crown insured, can't ne too careful these days.

It's not insured as it's only a $20 costume crown. :p (But it's coming from amazon so I'm pretty sure it's at least guaranteed and has free returns if it's broken or whatever?) It has the fanciest of rhinestones and some sort of gold metal which is definitely not actual gold. But it's still going to look ahhmazing. I ordered it online so I'll get it on Saturday, and I'll totally post a photo for you guys.

Hubby is now working 2 part-time jobs, and one of them is in a year-round costume shop where they sell all sorts of upscale costumes like renaissance, Victorian, pirate, etc. I asked about the crowns in his shop and showed him the one I ordered - he was quite impressed, he said they have much less fancy crowns in his shop and they cost much more money. So I did good. Even when I'm buying something totally ridiculous and unnecessary, I'm still thrifty about it. :p

Cat i hope you have a ceramonial crowning moment... maybe while your on the throne :rof:
Seriously though.Enjoy your crown 👑 my girl you so deserve it ...💕💕💝

Hi, Mandy. My father is having an ultrasound either tonight or tomorrow.

Thats good Ron ☺..

Hope everyone is good today.
Im doing ok...busy as per usual but still kicking lifes butt 😃 xx

Congrats on your new niece, Madhu! :D Being an aunt is the best. I don't want kids of my own but I have 3 nieces and 2 nephews, so that's enough children in my life!

Mandy, I'm trying to kick life's butt. Usually it ends up kicking mine though. :p Ha ha about wearing my crown on the porcelain throne! I am totally going to do that now.

I hope everybody has a good weekend! I'd tell you all to behave, but I know you guys better than that. ;) (Kidding!)

Hey Cat...when lifes kicking your butt girl kick back harder...remember you own life it dosent own you ☺
Tho the beggers kicked my butt pretty hard before now 😯

Haha i knew you'd say that re the throne :rof:... i'd say post a pic but maybe not 😉.

I have a son but i have to say i prefer kids you can give back to someone else 😃

Take care hun 💕

I definitely will NOT be posting a "throne" photo! Eek! Nobody needs that. I think I'd have to ban myself from the forum if I did that. :p

I definitely prefer kids that you can give back to somebody else! I don't do diapers or barf or any sort of bodily fluid that comes out of them. Nope. And I laugh because my oldest niece is now a teenager and is driving her parents a bit crazy. I can just sit back and watch and not actually have to deal with any of that nonsense myself! I'm the cool aunt, I do none of the work but somehow get credit for being cool. I win! :D

Ohhh teenage years.... dont remind me jeepers those nearly drove me to the nut house!!!. Least with Jaxon it will be my son n his mother who will have to deal with it...oh happy days it wont be me on the receiving end this time round... oh ye its called karma 😃. Cant wait till my son is moaning about his sons teenage antics...he will get a wry smile from me n told 'deal with mate ...i had to when you were same age'.. karma son karma ☺☺

Have a good weekend everybody. Safe travels to all you folks headed somewhere for the weekend. :) May life treat all of you well.

Cheers Chris...il be headed for work while the suns cracking the flags .. if the forecast is to come true. Always lovely when im working n piddling down when im off...hey ho ☺☺

Hey now Ron lad ...dont be going all mystic on us now.. if your telling us soon that he his getting married. Il be in awe of your mystical powers Ron. ☺

Aw im glad i give you a smile Ron my old chum...always good to smile, it is good medicine ineed . Keep smiling my friend ☺☺💕💕

Sandy and I had were part of a neighborhood yard sale yesterday. Sandy has spent days getting ready for it and today she crashed after the yard sale. Slept all afternoon. Sandy is otherwise doing good. Give her some time and I am sure she will be posting again.

Doug, I love shopping at garage sales but I've also hosted a few in my day and I know how much work they can be! Completely understandable if Sandy sleeps for a week after that.

I don't think I'd ever have a garage sale again, myself. I used to have a joint garage sale with my childhood best friend, but it was mostly an excuse to spend a full day with her (she lives far away now so we don't see each other very often). It was a ton of work pricing everything and setting it all up, and then sitting out in the hot sun for hours was also not so fun. So I'm done with having garage sales and I think she is too. Now I just shop at them.

Glad to hear Sandy is now in resting mode. On another note dad told me the car was wobbling in the front end the other day so he quit driving it. I checked it today and somebody loosened all five lug nuts on the passenger side front wheel. It is likely either to be vengeful, or most likely to try to steal the front tire and they were scared off somehow. The front wheel could have come off at highway speed no matter the reason. Someone could have been killed, I'm not very impressed at the moment. I'm not a big fan of these kinds of acts of stupidity. I know all the lug nuts were tight because I checked all of them two weeks ago with a torque wrench, plus there were marks on the bolt heads and only on the one wheel. Idiots!

Cmack, the hubby and I set up a trail cam in our yard to keep an eye on our house and cars as well. It only takes video when there's movement, so that you don't just have hours of nothing on your video. Although if the wind is blowing and the tree branches are blowing around, then you end up getting a lot of video of that. Lots of video of bunnies, squirrels, etc too. But I think it was only about $50 and it's a decent little outdoor camera. Obviously though you will want to make sure it's pretty well hidden so that the camera itself doesn't get stolen!

That made me smile too. You people are great. :)

Glad you had a smile to Chris☺

Omg the rotten bleeders doing that to your dads car.. so glad he didnt have an accident. If you ever find out who did that, shoot them n then shoot them again from me 😠😠
💕

Hey Doug ..glad you are both ok. Hope Sandy gets a good recharge of her batteries with the sleep n rest. 💕

Mandy, they do! We found a rabbit nest in our yard a couple years ago, so we set up the camera right outside of the nest. We got to see mama rabbit going in and out, it was pretty cute! I might set up the camera so that it's near our garbage cans - we have a neighborhood skunk who seems to get into the garbage, I'd like to have a better idea of how often and what time of day the skunk gets in there so that I can make sure to avoid taking the garbage out at those times! Ha ha.

Cat you are a smart one. I would want to keep an eye on the skunk as well. They are far too stinky to ignore. LOL :)

I put new brakes on the car today as they were damaged due to the mischief. Now it stops great! Next up, security cameras and tune ups for both vehicles. I like a good solid days work.

Aw the rabbits do sound cute Cat 🐇🐰... oh ye try and catch the stinky garbage thief in the act girl.💕

Hey Chris...glad you have got the car sorted n it has become safe again. Good job buddy ☺💕

I didn't want to believe my roadworker son was stealing from work......
But when I got home I saw all the signs.

Thanks Mandy. I hope your day was alright. All the trouble is over with, hopefully. How is the grandson doing?

Hey Chris... i had a good day thanks ☺
My grandson is doing realy good thanks. He has stayed at my house the last couple of nights. It is so lovely to walk in the room in a morning and see him smiling up at me. Aw he is so cute 👼
He wears me out though.. i wish i had half his energy lol 😃.

Hows things with you my friend ?? 💕💕

I'm glad you have been enjoying that beautiful little boy smiling Mandy. That's great. :)

I'm pretty good, thanks for asking. I could use a little energy boost myself though, the heat seems to get to me. It is humid as well so that makes it worse. I'm sticking to indoor missions for a bit. ;)

Glad you are doing ok chris.. ye its humid here and i find wearying myself. The heat had me waking a lot last night. Thunder storm forcast for today may clear the air ☺💕

Mandy, it's been hot and humid here too, and also lots of thunderstorms. The weather finally cooled off a bit, thank goodness, but still lots of storms to contend with. And my poor dog is terrified of thunder, plus it's getting close to 4th of July so there will be lots of fireworks soon which my dog is also terrified of. Poor pup, I'm going to have to give her lots of treats and cuddles to get through the next few weeks!

I woke up this morning freezing cold....had to close the windows ...it's warming up now and a balmy 17degrees...we do get weather extremes along the Niagara Peninsula.
Sunny with blue skies...smiling at me.....
Had a predictable allergic reaction to amoxicillin ...start off with one thing and end up with another..Knee infection all healed though...thank goodness.
lots of abdominal pain at night since the antibiotic reaction.Time will take care of it.
Just cleaning out my fridge and freezer...amazing what accumulates with no appetite.
Such a waste...now I am going to buy one day at a time....it's so difficult buying for one person when everything is geared to family sizes which is fair enough...but the companies should also consider singles and older folks living alone.
Now I will go for a walk in the beautiful fresh air once finished the chores.
Have a good day Everyone
Winning.......

We had a terrific storm between 6-7am.The first rumble and crash had all the gulls take to the sky screeching. There has been a few heavy downpours since then, but they missed me so I won't start singing "rain" songs.
The doc. put me on statins today, and I'm not happy.Despite having a healthy lifestyle and taking plant sterols (Benecol) daily for a year,my cholesterol has gone up.Apparently I have an 18% chance of stroke or heart attack.Go figure.

Carol, sometimes high cholesterol can run in families - it does in mine. My mother runs marathons and eats mostly salads, and she's got high cholesterol. Mine is already borderline high, although my "good" cholesterol is also high so my doctor isn't too concerned about it.

Aw poor doggy... my sisters dog is the same, she has a nightmare with her..the dog is a staffordshire bull terrier n soft as muck ☺.
Hope your dog doesnt get to scared. 💕

Went on a nice walk on the bike path. The flowers are beautiful. Not related but my Kindle is acting up.

Hosted a baby shower for my daughter that went very well. Hope all are feeling well.

Hello and welcome shellyboy. We need some newbies on this thread.Talk about your day or your interests.or just have a go old moan.

Carol, you are the queen of bad jokes. :p I mean that as a compliment!

Ron, what's your kindle doing? My old kindle had an issue where it wouldn't get past the start-up screen. I tried to fix it but no luck. I had to junk it and get a new one. Then my hubby's kindle did the same thing, ugh.

Ron, the battery might just be getting old then. You probably could replace the battery, depending on the model of kindle. I know I could pop the backplate off of my old kindle and take out the battery, not sure about newer ones.

Here I am stuck in emergency...again....questionable infection of knee joint.....last weeks cellulitis healed quite nicely but today the physiotgerapist did not like the swelling and pain
So...he said I had to check with my family doctor who sent me straight to emergency for more tests..all done over the phone of course.
The ER doc says there is no infection ......but ordered an X-ray to check the joint.
Hasn't ordered any blood work which my doc said should be done...to rule out infection.
Talk about when great minds collide and I'm in the middle...a precarious place to be indeed.
Now waiting for X-ray results ....not very happy.
So I thought I might find someone in my time zone to talk with...
Then again maybe you are all in bed with troubles of your own.....hope not...
At least the sun was shining today with a few rain showers in between
Winning?..

Hi Trysha,

I hope things improve for you. That sounds like a very frustrating situation that you are in. I'm thinking of you my friend.

Finest regards,

Chris

Sandy,Kirsty,Jane,CYY,Doug,Trev.

We're beginning to worry. You do know you need a note to skive off.???

Robert are you lurking ?

Thanks Cat..I am home with an appointment for the orthopedist July 13........best they could do....
Thank you all for your kind concerns,Ron,Cmac, Madhu,Fuzzy, and Carol.
They decided no infection and after three docs checking my leg they decided to give me a morphine prescription for pain control and told me there is no infection...based solely on X-ray results ,no fever.,and see what the orthopedist says....he is never directly available.
At this time I was having fierce abdominal pain which I kept to myself since I prefer the GI
to take care of that at my appointment next Thursday. I am still reacting to the antibiotic
so have to stay in close proximity to the bathroom. At least I have no appointments today and can rest....wouldn't you know there was a stranger knocking at my door early this morning which frightened the life out of me...no one that I knew...and they were very persistent..
So was I in keeping the door shut and calling the office manager twice...had to leave a message..no one there...turns out her cell phone does not work in the basement.
They checked my apartment since I had left when the coast was clear...nobody hiding ...
Whoever was there is recorded on the building cameras 🎥 which they will review and act accordingly.
Last year when someone knocked I stupidly opened the 🚪 door since it is supposed to be a secure building...that is when I was pushed to the floor and my handbag stolen.
She was on cameras and the police knew her and arrested her in the act of her robbing someone else. She went to jail.
No more door opening for me since then unless they call ahead of time.
But it is very un nerving......especially with my current state of health.
Have to get fighting fit to get to England soon.
Just realized I could write a 📚 book about my experiences in Canada.
I have had very good positive ones too...so it's not all bad
Just wish emergency rooms would be better places to visit and proper areas to maintain patient privacy.
It's teeming rain out there today...not likely to go too far
Somehow sunshine on my shoulder makes me feel better..
Winning....

How frustrating and annoying Trysha.I bet you feel like punching the wall.Feel better soon.

Hi Carol.....it's exactly how I feel...you hit the nail on the head....but it won't get the better of me...when life hands you lemons..punch back...
Thanks for caring..

Trysha, that's awful about your bag being stolen! I also don't answer the door (or even the phone) for people I don't know. Usually it's just bible people coming to my door these days to ask if they can tell me about their religion (no). I used to live in an apartment 8+ years ago before we bought our house, and like you said, it was supposed to be a secured building. But that didn't stop a homeless guy from coming in and sleeping in the hallway right outside my front door, ugh. Apartment living in a city is just not for me. I like my house much better. I can lock all the doors and feel secure. Hubby has a couple of guns if I absolutely need to defend myself, although he doesn't have ammo in the house, so I'd have to bluff my way through that! I do have a bow and arrows though. :p I'm going to be home alone all weekend which is why I'm even thinking along these lines. I'm a huge introvert so I love my alone time, but I do feel more secure when hubby is home.

You ladies need some pepper spray and a Louisville slugger. That would pretty much take care of it, just aim for the kneecaps.

We aren't allowed to use guns for self defense in Canada... but I have a can of pepper spray and I know enough Judo throws and have a few choke holds that could come in handy. ;)

I hope nobody pulls any more stunts like what Trysha had to go through, that is as low as it goes. I'm glad the assailant was caught and punished. I have no sympathy for thugs.

Chris i totaly agree. No need for doing that kind of thing. No matter how poor or if i was homeless and starving to death would i contenplate behaviour like that. So so wrong... unfortunately there are people who do despicable things...why they do is the 60 million dollar question?
💞

Chris, I have pepper spray, but I'm hesitant to even think about using it. My parents are/were both postal workers (my mom is retired now) and I've heard horror stories from them - mail carriers here often carry pepper spray to protect themselves from vicious dogs, but it sounds like about 50% of the time it goes badly. They said either the pepper spray doesn't work (is old and has dried up) or they end up spraying themselves with it as well as the attacking dog. So it sounds less than ideal to me.

I might have already told this story here so bear with me if I'm repeating myself. A lady I know, in her early 70s now, her house got burglarized a few years back by some teenagers, and one of the kids was still in the house when this lady got home. She took one look at the state of her home and at this kid, picked up a cast iron frying pan, and hit him in the head with it! Now that's hardcore. The kid was apparently okay but did get caught and ratted out his accomplices. I do have several cast iron pans, so I could always do what my friend did if somebody tries to burglarize my house! I also keep a large chunk of crystal on my night stand, so that I can use it to hit an intruder if they should come into my room when I'm sleeping.

I'm not messing around with anyone who has a cast iron frying pan EVER!!! That will scramble more than just an egg. You are right that if you spray yourself it is double trouble. The spray really only works if you catch them at the doorway then you can escape the irritants. I have had it in my eyes and airways before and it is like an inferno. You should only use mace or pepper spray if the conditions are right. It is nasty stuff and only to be used as a last resort.

I have it for bears so I'm better off trying that than getting eaten. We are allowed to carry firearms on Crown land and use them against a bear but not in the parks where all the fun trails are.

Hey Cat,

I just thought I'd mention that I really like to shoot bow and arrow as well, so that's cool. Do you enjoy it as a pastime? I have a Browning Timberwolf compound bow that works well. It's pretty old though so I might save up and buy a newer model. I don't use it as much as I should but I'm still a fairly good shot. I think it's good fun on the cheap.
