I hope everybody's having a good day! Today it feels like I'm winning. There was good stuff in the news about one of my favorite K-pop singers (he was in a coma but he woke up today and is talking and eating!) so that makes me very happy. And it was also $2 pants day at a local thrift store and I got a great haul of cute pants that fit me perfectly. And tomorrow is Friday! It's nothing but good stuff here today. Winning! :D

I am having such a bad day. As soon as I woke up, my phone showed me an alert that my work permit has been denied. It's been so hard. I wish I could rewind time and keep sleeping and not wake up :(

Going Kayaking and Fishing tomorrow, at Smith and Morehouse Reservoir. I can wait to get back on the water. It will be a very good day tomorrow. Next weekend we are planning on going camping at the same place. It will give us a entire day fishing. Tomorrow is more like the scouting trip.

Aw, Madhu, I'm sorry to hear that. Can you appeal the denial? Or would you be able to do something like volunteer work without a permit? I don't know how these things work but I hope you can find a good resolution. Don't give up!

Thanks Cat. It won't work out, given the current political scenario. It was for a H1B visa, which is under fire by the orange man right now. We usually apply in April and they provide a decision by October. In my case, I applied in april 2016, they dragged it and dragged it by asking for more and more documents, giving me loads of hope in the process to finally deny it more than a year later. I'm disappointed to say the least. It's been a 3 yr career break for me since I moved to the US with my husband. I wish I could go back home but can't really do that. Sigh!

I'm so sorry. :( I hate the orange man too (I don't even like saying his name). Hopefully he'll be impeached soon.

Do you do any crafts or have any hobbies? If you're not able to work, I hope you have something fun and productive to fill your time.

I'm sorry to hear that Madhu. Check out NZ immigration sites we have lots of people immigrating to NZ

Very sweet of you, cmack and kirsty. Would definitely love to come to Canada or NZ, if I get an opportunity. I'm not giving up yet. I have already started thinking about the next steps :)

Cmack, sometimes I seriously think about moving to Canada. You guys have better healthcare and better politicians than we do, that's for sure. Do you know offhand anything about how difficult it is or what the procedures are for a US citizen to become a Canadian citizen?

Hi all,

I think as long as you have a clean criminal history and want to live here you will be given the opportunity. I'm not sure on specifics of timeline but we are very liberal and tend to welcome anybody with a true desire to be a Canadian. The healthcare is better for sure and we are a land of immigrants. Here is a link to the Canadian government immigration site. http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/immigrate/index.asp

Happy Birthday cmack
Madhu...so sorry to see the anguish you are experiencing...come to Canada you will be welcome...and you can come to my place for afternoon tea anytime.
Juulez...feel better soon
Ron you have a trying time to endure ..prayers and best wishes for good results and good treatment.
Big tragedy yesterday...my iPad would not charge up.....took it to be checked ..nothing wrong with it but the charging cord was a bit frayed and non functional....how lucky can you get...so I only had to buy a new cord for it.Phew!,
Not always comfortable after the scopes...I am getting intense right side cramping and I have no colon left there..beats me all this stuff..hope it goes away on its own.
Our building managers were fired yesterday..no notice ...nothing....there have been many complaints about them so I guess their time was up.
Can't say I will miss them...and I like the replacements.
It is a higher end building and the owners are very decent people rumour has it.
I have a spaciious corner apartment with enclosed balcony and I like it ....nice place to live
and secure entry with cameras on every floor.
It became My home after I sold my house due to bad break in.
It is lovely to feel the warmth of the sun once more and all the beautiful trees and flowers in full bloom...such a lovely time of year and comfortable temperatures to walk in.

Winning...

:ghug::beerchug::birthday2:

Happy Birthday Chris, a bear hug is coming your way,so watch out.:dance::dance:

This group is the best and you guys are amazing. Thanks everyone for the kind words xx

What kind of bear For the hug Carol....Grizzly...Polar...Kodak...Black or Brown...?
Another lovely day to be out in the fresh air...but first the necessary chores...
Quite a shock for T May.....just when you think you are top of the totem pole the world comes tumbling down. Its surprising she called an election at such a negative time with all the goings on in the UK.
Hope everything comes out well in the long run.
Yesterday I was subjected to a barrage of unwanted phone calls...mostly from two callers
they had phoned at 10 -15 minutes apart and continually all morning when I was out at the gym and physio.
This continued when I arrived home so I called the phone company and they caught one caller twice who was trying to get through while I was reporting them.
The phone company notified a special police group immediately and then gave me a special procedure to follow for any more calls.
Blissful silence at last..no calls since then....hopefully it is taken care of.
There are so many scams these days and frequently some elderly seniors have been intimidated and scammed and lost money because of threats from these apologies for humans.
Hope you are all having a good day in the sunshine....
Winning.....

It's a gorgeous day today. It's a shame we are in the infusion centre instead of the beach.

Trysha, sorry to hear that. So annoying to get these kind of calls at short intervals especially. Nowadays they have automated voices speaking like real people. It is so irritating

Got blood drawn and then took a nap. My wife just told me that Adam West passed away. I hope everyone is well

We have T.P.S here.Telephone Preference Service. It works quite well, but not perfectly.
I have spam regularly on my lap top and no matter if I block them, they still get through.
I also have protection on here, but I don't buy on line or do banking. My hubby is a techno-phobe.But he's quite nice really.hahaha

Ha Ha Ha! Carol...that's a good one
Winnie was a black bear...Ursus americanus......so I did recognize him in an obscure way.
Very dear to my heart with his jar of "hunny ----good for the tummy" in Winnie's own words.
The malefic phone calls are back with a changed area code and the last digit of the phone number changed...obviously the same caller. No one on the line when I pick it up.
This time the calls were repeated 40 minutes apart and I was able to transfer them as directed so they will be identified by police and dealt with...but I don't like it at all.My number is now on a do not call list but it takes a few days before it becomes effective.
Another medical appointment Coming up with my GP .He will summarise all the recent events for me ...good to discuss everything..including my intended visit to England.
Hope it doesn't get nixed. ...I need the visit very much to England to see my very sick sisters.
Another lovely refreshing sunny day....lovely for walking.
Be well Everyone
Winning.......

It was SO good, yep I will own that one. I took my girls to it this last weekend. AMAZING.

Sandy and I have been out fishing and kayaking. I caught my first fish ever on the kayak. But that is why you haven't been hearing from us this weekend.

Congrats! I've never even been in a kayak. Canoes and flat bottom aluminum boats mostly for me. I have to match you now! ;)

I'm a strong swimmer, maybe I can roll it and survive.

Been there, done that! It was back in April. And completely by accident. Lost my glasses and a fishing rod. It was not fun. But I did survive. Always wear your life jacket when on the water!

I saw a car yesterday with two canoes and thought of you and Sandy.

My hubby is a techno-phobe.But he's quite nice really.hahaha

Carol, I bet your hubby is at least a little better than my grandma. My grandma is possibly the least technological person ever - even before she was dealing with dementia, she never liked technology. One time a few years ago, she finally learned how to use the DVD player (or at least she learned how to turn it on and push "play"), and she was so excited that she watched the same DVD twice in a row! :p My grandpa was very annoyed because it was a DVD of the musical "Brigadoon" and I'm pretty sure my grandma was singing along, ha ha. But she never learned how to use the computer, she downright disliked it and she'd always refer to my grandpa's computer as "that thing that lives in the den."

And more recently, a couple weeks ago when my brother and dad and I were visiting my grandma, we took her outside to the parking lot for a brief walk. There's a sign in front of her facility which says, "Like us on Facebook!" So my brother said, "Hey Grandma, do you know what Facebook is?" She said, "Yes, it's a book!" :p Good guess, grandma, but not quite. Ha ha!

Our car parks are now asking us to pay by phone, although most accept cash too.My hubby goes absolutely mad.He wants to know what right "they" have to ask him for his card number,so he can park the car for 10mins,in places he has parked for the last 50+ years.? I can see his point,as can most people in his age bracket. He reckons we're all doomed.Well not him of course, but everyone who depends on technology to get through their day.Even Stephen Hawking says it's going to fast.

You guys, so I think I told you already that a friend of mine just recently found out that she has cancer and it's been a scary time for her. So she had surgery last week and just got her pathology results back today. Up until she got the pathology results back, they weren't even able to tell her what stage her cancer was. Literally she didn't know if she was terminal, if it had spread to her lymph nodes, if she'd need chemo or radiation, etc. Very scary. But today she found out that it was stage 1 and that the surgery got it all out! She'll be fine and no chemo/radiation needed! I'm so relieved and happy for her. I'm breathing a BIG sigh of relief today for my friend. Best Monday ever!

Oh Cat thats great news. Im so relieved for your friend and yourself. I hope she has a speedy recovery from the surgery and all goes well going forward from this.
🙏💕

I found out today that my doctor's office is going to try to get me on the patient assistance program for vsl

Ron being in the uk i dont know what that is.. but im guessing its good news. If so im really pleased for you mate. I hope the doc suceeds in getting you on it.💕

But what is this stuff?
Hope you get it Ron and that it works....please tell us what it is....
Still getting crazy phone calls which the phone company extinguishes...but then it pops up again with a change of area code. Same number...like the energizer bunny...
Be well Everyone.........if wishes were horses beggars might fly.........
Winning....

I think he is talking about VSL#3 probiotics. I have taken them myself and they really help restore normal gut function. They are pretty expensive, about 100 bucks a box.

I'm at hospital today. It's infusion day. I'm trying to rewrite Steve's abstract for a conference.

I'm awake. It's 5 pm here. I'm staying night at my folks as Steve is away. My mates looking after Jammer. I'll pick him up tomorrow

Aw Kirsty jammer is so cute . Hope the infusion goes smoothly. 💕💕

I agree, I hope all goes well. I have my Lhasa Apso, Meika, sitting next to me. I'll have to post her picture sometime. She is 11 and can jump up a flight of stairs in three hops.

Hi there Chris.. aw ye post some pics of your pooch. Wow thats pretty good going for a small dog never mind an 11 year old one. 💕

Up and about now,but I expect those of you over the pond are still snuggled down.
Hi Kirsty and Kev. if you're around.(sounds like a double act Kirsty & Kev.,singing or knife throwing ?)

Unfortunately I am awake. It is going to be a hard day at work, trying to not sleep at my desk.

I'm up. It's 7.30 am here lol. Sipping on coffee and making a bit of lunch. There is construction going on next door and my God, it's terribly noisy. Even with all the windows shut. I have to escape somewhere for the day

You're five hours behind the UK Madhu.Unfortunately noise is part of life now. We,as a couple are very quiet. No kids,no pets,(alas) no loud music, very few visitors.Washing machine and vacuum cleaner go on after 8am and before 6pm.But noise can sometimes be unbearable, especially on the streets at this time of year. And if that kid 4 doors up, starts kicking his ball against the wall again this evening, well I just might have to ram it where the sun don't shine. And I don't mean the back of the cupboard....

Lol 😂😂 You hear kids 4 floors up? There is a 1 yr old right above us and we can hear him crawling fast on the wooden floors, the dog running around with her paws full of nails, and the worst of all - the adult who thinks she is a giant and likes to stomp on our heads! My husband and I have decided -when we have kids, we are going to train them to walk upside down on the ceiling, so we can give them back! 😆

Madhu, maybe you could take up a loud hobby to pay your neighbors back for "sharing" all their noise. :p Like, you could learn to play the drums! Ha ha.

Has anybody heard from CYY lately? Tagging CYY, just checking on you to make sure you're doing okay!

Poor Chris, you're sounding like Billy No Mates.........I have that problem during the day when you've all been gossiping while I'm in Amitryptline land.

I'm back home again after infusion. A bit tired today. I'm off to sleep soon. I need to do lots of work tomorrow to make up for last two days.

I also zonk out nightly on Amitriptyline. I cannot sleep without that wonderful stuff! And it prevents (most of) my migraines too. I only take 25 mg.

Chris, why have you come off the Ami.? Like Cat,it really works for me and I only take 10mg. I would have to have serious "words" with my doc. if he wanted me to come off them.
I was a light sleeper for years, staring into space, thinking all sorts of stupid things which were unimportant in daylight. That little tablet has done wonders for me.

Anything that is an antidepressant that I have ever tried before has caused me serious skin issues after about 2 years of taking it. I also end up gaining a ton of weight. Due to the fact ami is affecting my serotonin I have had to go off it. 10 mg doesn't even touch me, I had to take at least 40-60 mg for any sleep. I don't really feel like being fat and covered in pimples and ingrown hairs on top of everything else, like being unemployed etc, etc. It's a bummer. Anything that plays with my serotonin level seems to do the exact same thing. At least I can tolerate most benzos. I may have to ask for Xanax for bedtime.

you can all just call me Chris. I'm fine with that. Took me a while but yeah, it's cool. Or you may just decide to call me worse things...;) :rof:

Milton! Thou should'st be living at this hour
England hath need of thee: she is a fen
Of stagnant waters: altar, sound , and pen
Fireside, the heroic wealth of hall and bower
Have forfeited their ancient English dower
Of inward happiness
We are selfish men:
Oh! Raise us up, return to us again
And give us manners,virtue,freedom, power.

Chris..may you soon be refreshed with a cool summer breeze and a cool summer drink
Life has its ups and owns as we all know..met with my GP yesterday
Currently I have to take antibiotics for an infection on my prosthetic knee...a small red patch had appeared...my GP had a fit, drew a black circle around it and said if the redness
Goes beyond the circled area go to emergency for IV antibiotics.....not my favourite haunting ground.meds already working so I will be skipping ER.All
Gym exercises nixed till after the antibiotic is finished....by then I will be crazy with cabin fever!
He went over the GI procedure and
Outcome of the scopes ....strictures of esophagus and bowel. The GI used five scopes ,three paediatric before he could get through the bowel stricture due to obstruction.I experienced a lot of pain so he put more sedation into the IV.
Never rains but it pours.
Feeling better now....but rattling a bit with all the pills to take....alive to tell the tale however........O for the wings of a dove....
Stay well Everyone
Winning
