I find taking vitamin C with zinc helps shorten the duration and intensity of a cold. Nothing like the comfort of a bowel of chicken noodle soup and a scotch to take the edge off.

Thanks Carol ...today is much better shouldn’t be too much longer before it’s cleared up.
I have not had a cold for many years and suddenly it happened after being in crowded areas
and people coughing and sniffing very thoughtless.
Bufford I used to take vitamin C high dose when a cold was on the horizon and it certainly shortened the cold....can’t do that now with the parlous renal failure..
I avoid all these things now and put up a fight if antibiotics are mentioned...
A lot of my problems started after severe anaphylaxis following a course of a fluoroquinolone ( for crohn’s) which has now been found to cause damage to body systems.
It was at that time the renal failure started and renal function has been deteriorating for some time....can’t win for losing sometimes.
I have progressed to severe drug reactions and this last year had anaphylaxis again following morphine administration.
So now it’s very difficult when treatment is involved....but I manage so far.
So the young Saudi refugee has landed in Toronto to begin her life as a young Canadian...
Hopefully she will be left in peace by her family.
She is certainly well guarded right now and with the sheer size of Canada 🇨🇦 will have every opportunity for a safe environment.
Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me...
Winning. ———-

Trysha re people coughing n sneezing it is said that one should cough, sneeze into ones bent elbow to prevent spreading germs..as one does not pick anything up with their elbow but do with their hands, and thus passes on the germs.

Love n hugs to all 🙂🙂

Speaking of germs, I have been having a lot of periodic nausea and vomiting for the last three weeks. It comes on very suddenly. I manage to carry on though. I wish us all good health.

Chris,is the nausea and vomiting to do with your crohns or is something not agreeing with you in your diet ? I know you're careful what you eat.I get severe nausea when I have stomach pain,so I know it's a crohnie thing.Make a record for yourself to see if you can pinpoint the cause.

Trysha I was on a long term course of Cipro going back 18 years ago when the drug was relatively new. I was on it for close to 3 years. During that time my teeth were dissolving away. My dentist couldn't understand what was happening. I had serious disc degradation in my neck which is permanent and has become a miserable impediment for me today. The other problem was the tearing of my tendons. I tore my rotory cuff on my right shoulder which has healed but is permanently weakened, for that matter my entire body feels compromised by this horrible drug. Cipro never ever again, or for that matter any of those floro based antibiotics.

I think I have found the culprit. I have been eating baby spinach from the USA in my smoothies and it turns out that the FDA is doing hardly any testing for listeria e-coli and salmonella due to the government shutdown. I quit eating it and today seems better. If it keeps up I will be seeing the doctor. Hopefully eliminating the US greens will stop the issue.

Bufford, I also tore mine and it is a real bugger, It's my trick shoulder now as it has been severely separated before from rugby. I couldn't do a measly 75 LB bench press for three years after the rugby injury. I had to quit weights for that whole period. I hope yours settles down, mine is usually tolerable, however old injuries are very difficult to forget. Bruce Lee said, The three most difficult things in life are:

1. To keep a secret.

2. To forget an injury.

3. To make good use of leisure.

Cheers all!

Bufford we are part of many people suffering side effects of ciprofloxacin, whiich was hailed as a very good antibiotic for crohn’s patients..
Fluoroqinolones in general are coming off the market.
No doubt there will be a massive lawsuit in the not too distant future.
Judging from reports it can affect all body systems+
Currently I avoid all mention of antibiotic treatment.
At the moment I have a graveyard cough enough to wake up the city at night...gets the dogs barking in harmony..."
Still hanging in with raw honey and lemon.
Don’t see the point of a doctor visit since I won’t be taking any antibiotics.
Sometimes I think of naturopathic medicine then dismiss the thought.
Most effective treatment I have had for pain is acupuncture and Physiotherapy.
I am fortunate to have such a professional and often find his treatment better than. GP visit.my GP usually sends me off to a specialist etc...not always helpful to do that.
Not able to adequately attend to some household duties very worrying.....hopefully
things will improve this week.
Everything is neat and tidy but looking close reveals the dust layer hovering over some hard to reach surfaces.....can’t stretch arms yet but getting there slowly....
Can manage a bit of vacuuming but takes forever...have to sit down frequently......
Now the snow is coming down again so no brisk walks...
Life is good......
Winning.......

You hang in there, Trysha. I care about you buddy, don't worry about the dust you can always get an extension pole duster. We have one and it's pretty good. I can really feel for you with having injuries, I have had my share and being myself I'm likely to get more. The dust can wait, you just take care of yourself right now. I took cipro for ages too...Yikes! Off to do some research on cipro... Big hugs to you Trysh.

I too have a great fear of antibiotics and will not take them unless I was really dying. Antibiotics have been abused too much as the almighty cure which they have proven that they are not.

My life is similar, I used to keep up on things but in more recent years I too have a layer of dust in the house and like the dust it is becoming harder to keep up with the other chores due to fatigue, pain and a lack of desire. Its all to easy to fall into the recliner for another daytime snooze.
Which I will do after an awful night of walking the ceilings in an effort to find a comfortable position to sleep. I may sleep the whole day away.

Thank you Chris for the support..I do have a long handle device but I like to get up there
for ceiling lights and wall dusting.
I’m considering hiring a daily.....but I’m a bit afraid of it with my history of house burglars and robberies when shopping.
So I’ll wait till the flu clears and then have a longer think..
Bufford I had a very expensive adjustable bed 🛌 for years which really paid off.
It still worked very well but was becoming a bit shabby so I asked the store where to best dispose of it....they said they’d pick it up and dispose of it for $50......good deal so I agreed.
The next day they called and asked if I would agree to giving it away since they had a
Customer in need.So that’s what I did ...the people who needed it were delighted and did not mind it was a little threadbare in a few places, they offered to pay and I refused to accept. so I saved the $50 Disposal fee.
Now I am thinking of getting another adjustable bed for similar reasons to yours.
I’m hoping they are lighter to move these days...still have to decide..
Meantime it’s very sunny out there so I’ll take a short walk to blow away the germs...
Winning....

I hope you're feeling a wee bit better Trysha.?....I too had a bad night.I think I've mentioned before that after walking my dogs for miles each day for 50yrs I now cannot walk or stand for more than a couple of hours before the sickening ache starts. For the first time ever I had back ache during the night and being loath to take pain meds I still have it now,at noon.I have kept busy and tried to ignore it and I'm going for the weekly shop soon.Might have to try the Deep Heat cream again, but I know it's no good for me.I really envy the young fit people who hike and climb and run. Those were the days my friends,we thought they'd never end......

My neighbor has one of those beds and likes it. This maybe something I should be looking at. Last night was somewhat better.

I used to be a stomach sleeper, but when I got the colostomy bag my nights became complicated by the fear of squashing the bag. I find I still roll over onto my stomach, but most of the time I am on my side, I cannot get comfortable to sleep on my back which would make things far more simpler.

Carol sorry to hear you are afflicted too ..I find Arnica natural remedy also called
antiphlogistin cream to be helpful. and does not have a terrible odour like some preps....I cannot bear the smell of some of them....wintergreen drives me up the wall....
Bufford...one reason I bought the adjustable bed was so that I could raise the head of the bed to a comfortable angle for lying on my back and it worked most of the time.
You might well find it more conducive to your needs.
You can try it in the store and they usually leave you alone.
The Bay sells them and so do other specialized stores and of course you can research on the web. They are a bit pricey but sometimes you can find a bargain if it’s a seniors day..
If I lived in your neck of the woods I’d get one for you....
Mandy hope things are ok with you and mum......
O for the wings of a dove...I could fly far away to see you all......and then travel on to the sunny 😎 south and warm up before freezing again.
Such a cold day and the forecast....you don’t want to know
Winning.......

Hi all 🙂
Hope everyone not doing to well feels better soon and those doing well stay that way. 💖

Trysha im doing ok my mum is much the same at the mo . Hoping the spinal injection is given on the 28th and it helps her get more mobile. Thanks for asking 🙂💕

Love n hugs to all :ghug:💝💖💕

The flu has been going around and its been nasty, hang in there Chris, toss another big log into your furnace and kick back in the recliner for a time out.

Looks like iv got another cold only a few weeks back i had one. Not like me usualy only have 1 or 2 a year. Oh well least it not flu iv had my jab. 💖

Feel better soon those not well. 💕💕

Woke up to snow this morning and just 1c.Although the sun is out and the sky is cloudless for now,low temps are forecast tonight.Maybe -10c.

Cold -20, good weather for cross country skiing but my knee is tender and doesn't like it too much. Oh there is a thread about weather for that.
I Had a good sleep last night, may go for a ski later is my knee allows and bake chicken breasts later. When I look at the calm winter conditions out the window I would never know that the world is going crazy

Never did go skiing yesterday, I gave my knee rest, but then came a bad blockage in my stricture during the afternoon. It was a bit touch and go, but by evening I felt things inside start moving and with it came relief. I will go with softer foods for now. Called the surgeon and was told that they are still looking for a cancellation to move me up the line.

Hi everyone, I've been silently reading on and off. Hope you are all keeping well.

The baby is a month old now and we are still figuring out a routine. Just going with the flow for now :) but she is a joy and light. If only I could remember that when she screams at 3 am [emoji23]

My love to everyone [emoji177]

Madhu, a month already, time sure flies. Enjoy them while they are young; before you know it the kids will be off to college, getting married and having families of their own.

Hi all :). Hope to find you all well...
Iv been floored with a bad cold but im feeling abit better today, so i think im WINNING:) :)

Well that was short and sweet Mandy, hope your cold's the same..:thumleft:

Trysha.I hope your cold is almost better..:rosette2:

.

Thanks Carol...had it nigh on a week but its seems to be abating at the mo, so happy days :)

Love n hugs to all 💖💝 :ghug:

I’m into the third week of a fluey cold....feeling better but the cough just won’t leave...
However...it isn’t the cough to carry us off....etc....
Sorry to hear you have had it too Mandy...it takes its time to clear...
Carol..I would not dare to be anything but better......thank you for asking.
I had a big shock Friday when I attended my 6 month eye checkup after the retinal repair just over a year ago.
First two lots of eyedrops then reading chart ......then
I was put through three different miserable tests and then saw the retinal specialist ...
He checked my eyes with a giant magnifier,he had the other test results in front of him
and then said....”well! You have macular degeneration dry type, cataracts, and some fluid
in the eyes.
You need two more tests which are scheduled for Feb11.........one not covered by the government....check things out at the front desk...bye...
I had expected to breeze in and out....some hope..
I was taken ahead of about 40 people in the waiting area but I thought that was because
My needs were few.......some hope.
I’m just getting over the shock and hope it’s a a big mistake.
They mixed me up with another patient right at the beginning .....as I was transferred from one specialist to another I ensured it was my paperwork in front of them before allowing any tests.
Have a good evening Everyone.
Winning....

I hope it's a mistake too, Trysha. That sounds very cold the way you were sent off. Big hugs.

Aw Trysha thats all you need. Hoping it could be a mistake too.💝

Chris glad you are on the mend.💖

Take care all. Love n hugs 💝💖xxx

Trysha me darlin',sadly they probably are your test results.I don't know why you should think they're not, given your past history....BUT M.D is a part of me and it's progressing very slowly.I think I was dx'd about 4 or 5 yrs ago and my optician says it could stay the way it is for years. The worrying bit for me is that I'm only partialy sighted in the other eye,so they won't operate until the very last minute,in case there's a problem.I just put it to the back of my mind, like most of us do. Sending hugs to you.

Thanks Chris...good to see you are better.
Mandy...I have to face reality, and hope for the best
Carol I am sorry you have MD also but it is a bit consoling to me that you have had it
for so long and still have your sight.
I did a literature search and found more than one citation of positive results from acupuncture in a majority of people...but study numbers are small so far but I am continuing the search.
The physiotherapist/acupuncturist I go to knows of the studies and is willing to use the
same techniques for me...he said he has one other patient with it.
He has very kindly insisted that he will not charge for half of the visits required.
Of course there is no guarantee of success but I was relieved that he will try it.,based on the current reports in the medical literature.
So I will be having the treatment daily for one week and twice a week after that.
I am due for other eye tests and checkup up the second week of February and it will be good if there is a positive change at that time.
I really appreciate all of the helpful comments I receive from my friends /family on LOW...

More people in the have Mobile phones than have flush toilets

And, Harpo Marx kept a harp in his bathroom so he could practice while on the toilet

(Beats playing I-Spy on your own anyway)

P.S. Just thought I'd mention that while amusing myself on here,I've burned a large pan of potatoes.Forgot to put the timer on....

Easy to do Carol. I remember the time a few years back when a whole rack of ribs went up in flames on the BBQ when I was playing a game on the Wii. Those ribs lit up the night sky like a flood light. I resorted to the 'fireman's special' spaghetti as the ribs were a total loss.

I’m thinking of getting a mobile phone to carry for emergencies only...there is a low cost senior plan here.Would not be using it otherwise since the home ☎️ phone has any necessary features and is very pricey since I seldom use it.
More snow since last night..it does transform the landscape and is inviting me to go for a
slip sliding away walk.......thinking about it......
Sorry to hear of your potato fire Carol....I like roast potatoes 🥔......did you start all over again or decide on boiled instead.?
Winning....

They were new potatos, boiled (dry).I just sliced the burnt bottoms off. There is still a smell though.Hubby has no sense of smell and he wandered in from the kitchen to tell me there was a funny sound out there....I despair sometimes.
But just spuds and not ribs or I would have been really vexed.

Wow!! It’s good you were able to save the day with ribs unhurt...sounds appetiising.
I went to pay an account today ....not planning to buy anything...just taking a look at the choice of duvets... so many different fills and all half price.
The sale was for only three days I think so I thought and I thunk and I thought and finally just could not resist the goose down one for half price....now in my possession....seldom buy for myself but the price was awesome..but still expensive....I’ll likely go on the wartime iron rations for the next six months...but I’ll be able to sleep it off in warm comfort...with lightweight covers
My apartment has been so cold for a few days now and the weight of extra blankets not
comfortable. I don’t want to complain because it gets sorted eventually.
Freezing cold today...but winning....

Oh,that sounds lovely Trysha.I hope it's now on the bed and not in it's wrapping in the closet, kept "for best".Don't feel guilty for spoiling yourself,as a TV ad says YOU'RE WORTH IT.

Still waiting for the January post holiday slow down. Hasn't happened yet. Quick trip to Florida for brother-in-law's memorial service last week. Spent two days on the ground in Mexico Beach where hurricane Michael came ashore. Family restaurant is a total loss as is most other dwellings and businesses. Heartbreaking devastation for most and what's left is now molds infested. It was an eye opening experience I'll not forget. Stay well all, it's bitterly cold and expected to last for a while. Oh the joys of living in the north.

Carol...I placed the luxury new duvet on the bed yesterday and last night was so comfortably warm...without weighty blankets.......but hard to sleep with all the abdominal pain shooting around from a couple of base points.I have a pocket radio I listen to for distraction...nice music helps and alternative programme is UFOs current reports.
All night I say to myself I’ll call the GI in the morning.
Once I’m up and had my shower ...of course I feel better ...so don’t call anyone.
Can’t understand it...but acupuncture helps..
If I can avoid the invasive tests with which we are all so familiar then I will do so...but sometimes wonder if it will all catch up with me and I end up in the big White House.....
I am a Thornton’s toffee addict it’s a very good make..I get it at a store specializing in British Imports.....it sells out fast.
We were lashed by wind and snow yesterday...today sidewalks are like glass...very dangerous walking.
Shanen ...sorry to hear of your sadness and also those devastating weather conditions
Feel better soon.
Mandy...hope things are on an even keel for you...and that mum is ok.
Winning.....

Good to see you Shanen and happy you got through your experience safely.
Trysha,I do the same.I consider calling the Doc. but once it wears off,I can't be doing with the hassle (and I've not had nearly as much hassle as you, thankfully) I will try Thorntons toffee next time I pass a shop. There's not one locally but I know where there is one.I've cut chocolate out and I'm having Werthers Original. There are 3-4 different sorts and the caramel is to die for.I've noticed that you've mentioned UFOs a few times in the past.I'm interested but don't go over the top. It's like politics and religion. You have to be careful who you talk to.

Carol...I wonder how many of us suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune......
It can be risky....but so far so good.
I always liked fairy stories and read them all as a child...green,gold,blue,mauve etc
fairy books at the local children’s library.
Also enjoyed Greek and Persian mythology....don’t see that around these days.
So with regard to UFOs it is an interesting pastime that helps with sleeping...
However I do think it presumptuous of mankind to think we are the only beings in the universe.
There are unexplained phenomena in the night 🌌 skies as well as daytime.
Whether it’s all space rubbish caused by mans adventures into space remains to be seen.
Meantime it is bitterly cold here with lots of brilliant but cold sunshine.
Good weekend to Everyone....
Winning......

Shanen...im so sorry for the devestation caused but so glad you are all safe 💖💖.

Trysha.. im ok, suffering back ache at mo with all the packing of boxes at work,im sure il survive tho 🙂. Hope you can feel better soon. Mmm ufo's im quite interested in those. Im am sure there must be other life forms out there somewhere. If not even amongst us, unbeknown to us of course. Then again,i think if i was an alien id have took 1 look at this place n thought no sod that for a lark im back off to planet zog 😃😃. Im open minded on ufo's as i think iv seen a few in my time. 💕💕

Carol hope your health settles to give you a break for a while. Those little niggles add up to make you feel ropey hen. I know as i class my issues as niggles n not worth bothering docs about. I think of them as part n parcel of crohns...maybe i shouldnt n id have less of them or less often if i ran to doc more. Oh well il keep on trucking. Take care xxx

Love n hugs to all 💖💝💕:ghug:

Mandy...that’s a miserable thing to have hope you soon feel better and have a relaxing weekend
Your views of UFOs are interesting...I have seen only one and it was spinning high in the sky early evening some years ago...
It’s an interesting topic but I don’t often see reports of them locally any more.
It has been reported that Jimmy Carter conversed with some beings from outer space...
Sorry I can’t confirm this since I was not there...
Winning......

I agree with all of the above comments.Coincidentally just after I posted yesterday "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" was on TV.
Mandy, watch that back !!! I've had chronic back pain for years and nothing works for me .I've spent a fortune on different embrocations in the past.Having read an article today about opiods having no effect on chronic pain,I'm seriously considering coming off Tramadol, even though I only take two daily.I have a medication revue in a few weeks so will discuss it then with my doc. I have an appointment at the hospital on Tuesday PM,so will spend a couple of hours tomorrow listing my recent / past symptoms.but I hate to sound like a soft whinger.I want everyone to think I'm fit and healthy for my age,as well as looking half of it.hahaha.Terrible news regarding the dam burst in S.Americe.Those poor people.

Trysha thanks but no relaxing weekend its my weekend in work. Oh im off tomorrow 🙂..ah but got jaxon and got to go hospital with my mum, so day off!!🤔.

Carol i feel for you with the back pain, its a mare when theres no let up. You are fit n healthy and look half your age n dont you forget it;). Same as me of course :). Good luck with the meds review x

Love to everyone 💝💖

Adverts have taken over themiddle of postingspace...very difficult to post with a keyboard split downthemiddle

That's got to be annoying Trysha. Is there a little ads symbol top right of the ad which allows you to cancel ? I think Chris had a problem a while back.

CHRIS where are you ? I / we hope you're not sick, just busy.

Carol...I found a way to put the keyboard back together.....I pinched both sides firmly...
et voila!! Sitot dites...sitot fait...no sooner said than done.....very happy now.
Good luck with your appointments tomorrow.
Chris where are you....hope you recovered well from that flu ...and that it did not return..
Mandy...hope you are finding five minutes to put your feet up on the mantelpiece
Where is Everyone these days....hiding from the snow and wiles of winter.......?
I started the acupuncture system for my eyes......quite the ordeal slip sliding away in the snow and ice to get to the daily appointment.
There are different acupuncture points for different conditions.
It has certainly helped the abdominal pain hope it continues to heal it away.
I feel better for it but have to wait and see the effects on my eyes....that’s up to the eye
surgeon.

In 1899 Dr. Horace Emmett announced that the secret of eternal youth was
injections of ground up squirrel testicles. He died later the same year...…

Maybe he meant squirrels "nuts" and died of cold and exhaustion digging in the woods looking for their larders ?

Squirrels can remember the hiding places of up to 10,000 nuts but declined to share their where-abouts with Horace for obvious reasons.

re; hospital apt.....opted to try a months course of Mesalazine (6 per day)rather than a colonoscopy.
Having done some research I'm now regretting my choice.Has any one had experience of these tablets please?

Trysha i would need longer legs than iv got to get my feet on my mantlepiece😃😃. Im trying to rest and sleep as much as possible, tho its tricky to do at times. Hope you are ok 💖💝

Carol you know how secret squirels are ;)...remember the programme? :). Oh iv not not been on that med myself so i cant say. Though it sounds as if you may have jumped from the frying pan into the fire. I do hope not hun xx

Yes where are all the usual suspects????
Maybe the squirrels have hidden them for winter too!!!😃😃

Hope everyone who is awol is doing ok 💝💖

Carol...sorry you are up against it at the moment and hope you will soon feel better.
I was prescribed mesalazine by the first (eminent)GI....world renowned...did all the wrong things for me...he was a brilliant academic....but forget the practise...I did not improve till I left him for another well respected GI who knows his stuff...practically and theoretically.
He was most upset I had been prescribed mesalazine and said not to take it...corrected the mis diagnoses of the first GI and from then on I was much better...even though it had to be major surgery for a rather large tumour in the right side colon.
In your place I think I would have opted for the colonoscopy to see what’s going on before taking a drug...
Some people do really well with mesalazine...though...it is Hobson’s choice for you.
Mandy....glad to hear some positive vibes from you......life can be a b...at times...it can also be a dream...
What is the squirrel story...I like squirrels...
winning....

I posted a squirrel story yesterday Tryshe, you must have missed it.

re: the Mesalazine.I just thought I'd give it a months trial and if it doesn't work then it's a colonoscopy.....you never know it might be the magic spell I've been waiting for.

Carol...I didn’t miss the squirrel story and I enjoyed reading about it...sorry for the confusion....just would like more stories.
Good for you for trying the mesalazine.....your specialist may still want to do the scope though.
Yesterday there was a bus missing and I ended up waiting over 35 minutes in sub zero temperatures about -35C....and sinking.
By the time I reached Physiotherapy I could hardly move for cold.
They wrapped my feet arms and legs in warm cloths and placed one strategically at my back....it was good to warm up.
He could not place the acupuncture needles till I thawed out.
More treatments today but this time I get to use a different and more frequent bus route.
I think I’ll wear six layers of clothing to keep warm.
I’d take a taxi but buses are heavier on icy roads not so likely to slide on the ice.
When I was on emergency call the taxis would turn circles on the ice quite a fearsome adventure....
The bus areas are deep in snow now frozen over quite slippery...travelling is in the realms of the Perils of Pauline...old silent movie classic from history.
Your weather is likely similar in the frozen north.
When are we going to have some good news of peace in the 🌎 world and where people can live in ☮️ peace.
Have a good day Everyone

Carol i guess it worth a shot on the new med, it may well be it works for you, we all react differently to the meds we get. Hope it does the job hen xx

Keep well n safe everyone.

Has everyone retreated to escape the lovely snow.....
The acupuncture sessions seem to be energizing...feeling better every day..
Lovely sunshine over layers of ice.....walking hazardous but can’t stand still...otherwise

Hello all,
Somehow I lost the link to this thread, but one arrived in my email this morning. Not sure if you saw my update on the general IBD link, but the short version is that I had surgery Dec. 18 instead of Jan. 8, due to the stricture closing down. The surgeon said I came close to needing an ostomy bag, but I was grateful that she chose to sew things up instead! Everything seems to be working fine and I can eat now with no pain- whew! They wanted me back on Remicade infusions asap, but a new drug called Inflectra has arrived at my local hospital and created some controversy with the insurance company. So, after much back and forth, they are ordering Remicade for me and I will start infusions again next week.
Did the baby arrive safe and sound? I see most of you are suffering snow and very cold temps. I am grateful that here it has been mostly cloudy and in the forties!

Hi nutty..glad the surgery has been a release from pain, thats is the best feeling ever after ages of suffering each time you eat. To be honest i went food crazy at 1st after my op. It was sooo good to eat n not feel pain. So far not had any since early 2015.
I hope you enjoy a long long pain free period. Best wishes love n hugs.
Ps. Yes a lovely little girl arrived safely 🙂

Trysha glad you are feeling better each day. May you continue to do so . Love n hugs.

It’s great to hear of your successful surgery Nutty....and good you found your way back to LOW.....
Mandy it’s good to see you today...hope it’s a good day for you.

Just wondering.........

Depends where you drill from Trysha as to what's on the other side..

Here's another one.....Because there is no weather on the Moon the footprints of the twelve men who walked on it are still there.

And....most astronauts become 2 inches taller in space.

Does it mean that if I drill from Ontario it will be different to drilling from Tynemouth Carol..
Who did this drilling in the first place and who did the timing....and where did it take place?
Or is it all hypothetical?
Reminds me of the dwarf who sprang up through the floor to spin the straw to gold....and the elves and leprechauns making appearances in Ireland...so we are told...
The weather has bounced upwards to 6C.....a veritable heatwave.....then back down to -4C
Tuesday......making the most of it today and made it to the 🏬 shops for a few essentials.
Happy Sunday Everyone
Winning....

Hard to believe I know...NOT, but I still haven't got my prescription from last Tuesdays hospital appointment.Have phoned my GPs surgery since Friday, and today the receptionist rang the hospital on my behalf but after several attempts had to leave a message on the answer phone.I couldn't get the 'script after my apt.as there was something up in the hospital pharmacy.Still ,as the saying goes,if it's worth having it's worth waiting for...Lets hope so.:ybatty:

Good morning, all! Thought you all might like to know that it is finally freezing cold here and we actually got our first snow of the season. Of course, I have to drive in it because I have an appointment for my annual "wellness visit". Oh well, it's only about an inch, so I think our car will handle it just fine.

re; hospital apt.....opted to try a months course of Mesalazine (6 per day)rather than a colonoscopy.
Having done some research I'm now regretting my choice.Has any one had experience of these tablets please?

ONLY A WEEK LATE :ybatty:

Hey Carol , I was on these , asacol for a while , my doc switched me from salazopyrin as they were more modern and they really did not suit me , the worst side effect was a lot more cramping and wind , I have UC not Crohns (depending on the doctor ) but i went back to salazoprin and was on them for over 20-25 years without problems , funnily enough since my op leaving me with only a small tag of colon I use pentasa suppositories to manage inflammation successfully without problems , hope that helps Carol

Thanks Tony.I was on Asacol supps for years and did ok.I was put on 1000mg for a month over Christmas and they worked really well.As I deferred a colonoscopy for now,she thinks a course of Methasaline tablets will help inflammation higher up.(if there's any)…..still no script, will try again tomorrow.

Hope you're keeping well.

Nutty hope you got there safely and all was well 💕

Tony hi there nice to see you pop in. You have been missed old chum 💕

Carol are they taking the mick, thats a crime!! Give um what for girl, hope you get the script tomorrow hun. Xx

Hi to everyone else . Hope you are all well. 💖💝

Hope you had a safe journey and good results Nutty
Carol....hope you soon get that prescription.Could your pharmacist help you by calling the hospital?
Mandy..hope you are keeping in the warm....
Our area is paralyzed with the ice storm, sidewalks like glass....they keep the main roads as clear as possible with constant applications of ice melt...all schools, universities etc were closed today...my physiotherapist seems to have opened up for me...no office staff in..
It seems it’s important to have uninterrupted sessions of acupuncture week long.
I was able to get a taxi both ways......too dangerous to even try the sidewalks.
We have a completely covered driveway for the apartment building so going out was ok...
Returning was a bit hazardous outside the physio building but the physiotherapist hung onto me one side and the taxi driver the other side so I was safe on the very slippery ice over the sidewalk...back to the Perils of Pauline,,!! !!
The trees are very beautiful in their glistening robes of lovely sparkly ice ....
Hope the sun will come out tomorrow?....but I think I just saw a pig fly past the window...
Cheers Everyone.....its winter for us to enjoy....

Thank you, Fuzzy and Trisha, I made it to the doc's and back with no problems, although the roads were icy all morning. Medicare requires that one get a wellness visit once a year, but I am not sure why. I don't get to see my primary care physician; instead the visit is with a nurse practitioner. Don't get me wrong, I think nurse practitioners are usually as smart as, if not smarter than some doctors! But she doesn't examine me- they just take bp, pulse, oxygen, weight, etc and update the meds list. (Last year this time I was on no prescriptions, and thanks to the Crohn's I now have four prescriptions and numerous supplements, so that took a while!) She said I am doing great and sent me on my way!
Hope you gals are staying warm and having good days...

Glad all's well for you NG,long may it last.
Trysha glad your trip went smoothly and you had no mis-haps.
After another call from my GP to the hospital my script will be faxed today.
I'll wait until tomorrow to collect it,I couldn't bear the disappointment if it's not there.I will then personally visit the hospital to change my follow up appointment. It's a four week course of tablets and I was given an appt. while there, but 12 days have passed now.I hope they work after all the faffing about.

Mandy,I keep meaning to ask how your mum is ? Are you still staying over.Don't forget to look after yourself,or you'll be no good to anybody.xx

Thanks Carol..shes doing ok ish, we installed a camera system so we check on her from our fones. So been no need to stay over for a while now. She cant go upstairs so we have bed in the back room ,so all on 1 floor. My sister n i take turns doing her meals as she cant stand long enough to do her own. Im there now doing her tea after work.
Bet you wished you'd never asked haha.xx
Hope get your meds tomorrow hen .

Nutty glad you are doing well and got there n back safely. Take care. 💕

Trysha im trying to keep warm, it has warmed up slightly here. Its you who needs to keep warm hun 💖

Nutty....good to hear you survived the check up...stay well....as much as you can.....
Carol..thank goodness you almost have the prescription..
Mandy...if you place a hot water bottle under your left arm you will soon warm up all over..
We are still covered with sparkly ice.. and ice rain.. .hazardous sidewalks ....
but I carefully tip toed my way around the ice sheets and made it to the bus stop...to get downtown ..made it safely.
Why do manufacturers seal jars so tightly .....just could not open a jar 🏺 of plums today.
Chris,Bufford,Tony. Missing you...hope things are reasonably ok with you..
So many missing persons from our group..miss you all....
Winning......

Trysha if you slide a knife (butter) or spoon under the lip of the top and jemmy it,the vaccum will be released making it easy to twist the lid off. Also,I haven't heard you mention grips to clip on your shoes ??? I had them for walking the dogs and they do work.I've also heard about people putting thick socks on top of their shoes when icy.I know you're fussy about your appearance but black socks are hardly noticeable, and who cares if it stops you falling.
Got my 'script from the docs.but the chemist has to order them,so Monday will be the day.Two weeks after my appt.

Also meant to mention, the soap under the top sheet is still working for RLS.

So glad you got the script Carol..pigging typical you now have to wait for it to be filled omg how anoying!! Oh thats a good tip re opening jars, i struggle these days with my hands n fingers. Xx

Trysha thanks for the hot water bottle tip...though not sure how il keep it there when my arms are up down like a brides knickers all day 😃😃😃. Guess it could strap it there with a bandage 🙂💝

😃😃 thought it might make someone chuckle. Laughter they say is the best medicine....i should be laughing like a hyena🐆(nearest emoji i could find) if thats true, then i might not feel as achy n knackered. Keep well nutty💝

Thank you for the helpful tip Carol.....it made me move to try something...then I found
still in it’s plastic wrap an all in one can and bottle opener.....in the shape of a funny figure..
can opener one end ...the feet and bottle opener the other. the head.
So following directions carefully I placed the feet against the can lid ....had to do it four times different places to even partly succeed...not easy with only one fully able arm...success finally.
The plums and juice were awful and I discarded them...all that effort for nothing....an imported expensive lesson...won’t buy them again....I will bottle my own...
I have elasticated embedded studs to put on my shoes but don’t have the strength yet in my hands and arms to put them on .
I do have some non slip waterproof leather shoes bright red colour for easy finding me under the snow banks(just kidding)....very efficient..
Mostly it’s safer to use a taxi door to door or the disabled transit system which is unlikely to run in very bad weather....and you have to book it a week ahead...not very user friendly...
Conditions can get too bad for any transport, and most car drivers stay home.
All public services are closed as well but things get up and going pretty quickly once the snow is cleared off the main roads.
Mandy...hot water bottle instructions were for either sitting or in bed....you can’t stroll around with it ..and do multiple tasks at the same time...feel better..
Dull day today ...more snow on the horizon...wish it would stay there...

In 1987 American Airlines saved $40,000 by removing an olive from each salad in First Class.

Zeus had five wives. One of them was his aunt, another was his elder sister and a 3rd one he ate.

Powerful acids in snakes stomachs mean they will explode if given Alka Seltzer.

Carol..in 1987 I went to New Orleans and flew with American Airlines...I found the upholstery on the aircraft worn and threadbare..could have used a needle here and there.
They did place a neatly wrapped chocolate at each seat which had the AA emblem on it.
So I suppose they had to do a bit of refining by removing the olive to pay for the chocolate...
Those Greek gods of mythology had a great time with numerous wives...anyone not liked they ate.
So many friends missing from this page...hope you are in the sunny south with other snowbirds..

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on here much. Little miss is keeping me so busy. She would only sleep on me at night for a few days and I slept sitting all night long. Apparently my back did not like that and I developed severe back pain to the point that I couldn't even hold and nurse her. I have just started seeing a chiropractor, hopefully should be back to normal soon.

Also, hubby is stable for now. Fingers crossed. But what's weird is his Dr last did bloodwork 3 months ago. During his recent visit, he said we can do the next set of bloodwork after 6 months. Which would be 9 months without bloodwork and 6 months without a consultation. This does not sit well with me at all. I think he needs routine care and a Dr who understands that. Anyone think this is weird?

I hope you're all keeping well. I will try my best to pop in now and then [emoji173]

Congratulations on your new little one, Madhu! Hope your back is feeling better soon.
I just got over surgery and am back on Remicade and azathioprine, and my GI doc wants blood work and a consult every 3 months. It probably has to do with what the insurance company says is "normal".
Has anyone heard from Bufford? Hope he is okay...

Buff. was shovelling snow a few days ago.so I hope he hasn't done himself a mischief.
Hope you feel better soon Madhu.Back pain can be a nightmare to cope with. But all the pain and sleepless nights will be worth it.Especially when she starts school and you look back on her baby-time.

Went for my 'script today and guess what ? The pharmacist was at lunch and they couldn't give it to me until he was back.Got it now but am beginning to think I should have opted for a colonoscopy.

I also am wondering where all our crohnie family are....Come on people.YOU'VE GOT TO BE IN IT TO WIN IT !!!!

Mandy...hot water bottle instructions were for either sitting or in bed....you can’t stroll around with it ..and do multiple tasks at the same time...feel better..

Oh blimey Tysha i dint know i had to sit or be in bed when using the hotwater bottle tip....i need to be strolling around and multi tasking whilst using the hottie. Its at work iv been most cold so i doubt they would appreicate me sitting or lying down on the job 😃😃😃. Take care hun 💝

Madhu how lovely to see you pop in. So sorry for you with your back. Im in a similar boat with mine at mo. Im sure we will both recoup and be ok soon. Aw bless the little tinker, oh how mothers suffer for their art. As our wise Carol says its worth it. Take it easy . 💕

Carol, well that was a marathon n not a sprint on those meds gal. I know what u mean re colo but give them a shot, you know it could be a meds that works well for you. Least you can say you tried them if they dont. Keep well my aud mucker. Xx

YES WHERE ARE THE REST OF THIS LOONEY FAMILY.....HOW VERY DARE YOU GO AWOL ON US!!!!
HOPE YOU ARE ALL WELL 💝💖💕

We have been deluged with snow followed by ice rain and back to snow tonight.
I had three appointments to keep today, the roads so bad taxi drivers went awol...
I’d sooner take the bus anyway...heavy giants holding the road and amazingly on time.
Have to be careful not to get lost in the big snowdrifts slippery with ice on the sidewalk and at bus stops..
Very slippery..and I seemed to be the only lonely figure out in the weather..my drug store was closed because of it.
Only two three people on the bus....people shut themselves away and don’t even try to get over the weather.
GP checked me and ordered more bloodwork...sigh...what else...
Then went to hearing centre...one hearing aid is failing needs new ones sooner than later..
they are so expensive $7500+......have to manage for now.....my current ones were
4000 five years ago and they say it’s luck if you get beyond five years with them.
Mine are five and a half ....
Built in obsolescence it’s called.
When I had my house the furnace replacement cost $7600....and it lasted 27 years.
Hard to see why hearing aids cost so much when there’s not that much to them..talk about profits.
Finally stopped by the physiotherapist and he was shocked to see me out in the weather...
all the other people had cancelled and he had phoned to tell me not to go out in the weather...
So I had the physio...felt better...and he closed the clinic and helped me to the bus stop..and on to the bus.
Made an uneventful journey home slip sliding away.A day well spent...
Tomorrow is another day.
Winter in Canada is never dull...and the countryside is spectacular with trees clothed in
sparkling dresses....and of course lots of ⛷ skiing ⛷ for those so inclined.
Madhu... sorry you are not so well and hope you will soon be better.....babes take up lots of energy...try and get a bit more rest.
Mandy....I hope your back is recovering...maybe a heating pad you could tie around you might help
Carol...it’s unbelievable the obstacle race you are having to fill a prescription.
Why don’t they just deliver the meds to your door..
Snowdrops keep falling on my head......
Cheers Everybody
