Hi ya I got tired of my skunk strip appearing four weeks after colour. I was dark brown, started lighter colours. Now mostly silver. Going to hairdresser on Friday.

Had infusion Monday, then saw my GP. He was good. Did refer me to counseling so I went yesterday. Lady said if she was going through what I was she’d be crying too. Have set some goals to look after myself better, learn to say no to people, ok to rest. All the stuff I find hard. But that’s ok.

Good to have a challenge. So far now on 25 mg prednisone spine pain is back. Abdominal pain is back too.

See ya

Good to see you Kirsty...life can be very trying and its good that you went after some help in coping with multiple issues...not easy.
It looks as if you are coming up a little from down under..thats really a good step forward.
Having been through some hard times as many on LOW have we can commiserate with you.
Springtime is almost here and such a lovely season with flowers peeping out from their buds under the snow and the hints of green, though no signs from the trees.
In fact the top of the tree outside my window is flying in the breezy gale out there and has
very bare branches. Its leaning towards my window asking to come in out of the wind...
Carol i dont believe in old age......just elegant seniority

Thanks Trysha,
We have just started autumn. The nights are getting colder and darker. Before we know it winter will be here.

I’m happy for your spring time I love that time of year. Enjoy all the new life [emoji16]

Vivaldi has eight built in search engines with a drop down menu. I'm really liking this.

It was a good day here... did a tune up and oil change on the truck. Quite a bit of sun! Gonna order a new tailpipe section and give er a weld soon. I like to weld, I like to weld very much. ;)

Glad to see you had a good day Chris.....
It looks like you love to weld....putting pieces of mettal together with a flame needs
Knowledge and experience and lots of manual dexterity...
Not my cup of tea....but what would we do without people like you to mend our cars and other metal repair work..
I love to laugh...listen to beautiful music of great composers and sing motets especially Renaissance latin music..very hard to find these days.
Tomorrow we are to expect freezing rain and rain.....hope it doesnt land here..

I bet Jammer and Wolf are snuggled beside the heaters. Being cosy is a wonderful thing.

What has four legs and an arm ? A happy pit-bull

Where does the arm fit in on a pit bull......?.just wondering...didnt know they had arms...never seen a real pitbull...
My niece is in Wellington Kirsty.....while on holiday there she suffered a severe eye infection
and was hospitalised for almost three weeks and is now an out patient at the Wellington hospital....they wont certify her for flying......people with eye infections cannot fly,.
she has to be certified free of infection prior before the airline will accept her for the return flight to UK....the airline has been marvellous about keeping the booking open....so we have fog, ice rain and rain today and its cold and wet out there...
Winning.....

Trysha the arm fits in its mouth. I'm scared of those, a girl on my street got bitten by one that was loose. Luckily she wasn't too badly hurt. Her mom intervened and got bitten as well.

Thanks for that.I'm never quite sure if Trysha is pulling my leg or not so I was hoping somebody would put her straight hahaha

Thanks Tuff...i had really missed the point and took it seriously......didnt know i was supposed to laugh...
Carol...me pull your leg????
Looks as though the eye docs are planning a corneal transplant for my niece.....scary...

Trisha, is Mackay her surgeon? I’m not sure of who else in Wellington does cornea transplant. My dad has had two transplants, one in each eye, not the same eye. His surgery was very very very successful. Does she have support or is she on her own?

Hello Kirsty...thank you for posting the information.
I dont know if or when they are planning to do the surgery.
She is a bit vague perhaps a bit stunned by everything that has happened...and it was her first time in hospital..which was quite the experience for her.
For the first few days she was getting eyedrops every half hour which gradually spaced out to every two hours...for the remainder of the time she was in hospital
She was in patient for 16 days....and now weekly checks with the eye team.
She was seen this week by the eye surgeon who is looking at the corneal transplant surgery.
I will ask if she has his name.
I wish she was back in England with all the family....but she does not have clearance to fly
just yet. Once there she would go to Moorfields Eye Hospital..world renowned but could be a big wait.
I suspect she is getting better care...more prompt and sensitive..in Wellington..
She is on her own there but has some very good friends who put all their air miles together to buy her airfare to transfer from Aukland to Wellington where they lived.
Wonderful caring people and tye hospital was the same.
She complained to me about the nurses waking her during the night to put in the antibiotic
drops....!!!!!
She just did not understand how serious things were......she has never been ill before.
Once i explained how serious the Pseudomonas infection was and that they were pulling out all the stops to save her eye there are no more complaints.
It is very encouraging to hear of the successful corneal implants were for your husband.
Hope you are feeling a bit better.
Cheers Everyone

Hope Niall's looking after his feet as well as his (un) grateful mutha.I bet Jaxon's taking more notice of his surroundings this year....Mind the chemicals in the pool don't turn your newly coloured hair green.Of course if you dyed it green to start with it wont be a problem eh ?:cool2:.....:drink:

Mandy...hope the weather turns into a heatwave for you then you can complain of it being too warm....but you could test the waters...and dont get your hair wet...might change the pool colour to technicolor....that would be spectacular and give people a talking point.

Has anyone here ever heard of phage therapy, or bacteriophages? I have just finished reading a fascinating book called "The Perfect Predator" by Steffanie Strathdee and Tom Patterson. Steffanie and Tom are married, and while on vacation in Egypt, he contracts a terrible bacteria that is resistant to all antibiotics. From a hospital in Egypt to one in Frankfurt, Germany, and finally to San Diego, his wife works with the docs (she is a medical researcher) to find something to help Tom. They try every antibiotic known to man, and nothing works, and slowly Tom is dying. At the eleventh hour, they try phages- using a virus to attack a specific bacteria, and it works. Long story short, they started the first phage therapy lab in the US! With all the news about superbugs and bacteria evolving to be drug resistant, I found this extremely hopeful! Especially for those of us with compromised immune systems! Anyway, it's a terrific read if you have the time...

In the study of disease producing bacteria it is important to have pure cultures to work with
and use for research
In doing this some microbiologists encountered patchy areas in the bacterial growth which proved to be phages killing the bacteria...very annoying at the time.
Now it has been found that groups of bacteriophages can act to kill off bacteria
Infections in mice. (Baylor et al)
Single phages do not have the same ability.
So the future looks exciting and promising for those humans with intractable infections..
could be life saving.
Thank you for posting the interesting information NuttyGuts
There is still much research to be done.
Hi Chris...hope your evening is good

It's a cold grey day but we're going for a peddle as it's been a week since last time.At least the sun won't be in our eyes, nor the wind making it difficult, so all in all nothing to
worry about.Always look on the bright side.....

The suns rays that shine down through the clouds are called crepuscular rays....just in case you were wondering.

I've reached that wonderful point in my life when I know I don't have to wait until Easter to
get stuck into chocolate eggs .

Go for it Carol [emoji16]

I’m getting used to my blue hair now. Who would’ve thought in trying to go silver I’d end up blue, purple. That’s what happens when I decided to pamper myself [emoji2957][emoji23][emoji16]

We’ve had our day light savings now. So the nights are getting darker, cooler and I’m back to wearing jeans.

Down to 22.5 mg prednisone now. Another two weeks then I’ll be 20mg. Last fecal calprotectin was 211. Nurse asked me to do another one. Imagine that they are waiting for me to score over 600 before any action is taken.

So frustrating having to get sick just so they can act and do treatment just because they were all on holiday first time round when I got sick.

Such is life

Hi all...well im back in blighty..
Had a good time dispite the not great weather, cold pools n the food at hotel being cold to luke warm at best.

Mandy...hope you have recovered from the travels
Carol....put that chocolate away......save some for Easter...

Blizzard forecasted tomorrow with 6-12 inches predicted. What happened to spring???? Pretty sure a lovely flare has settled in so I call my specialist to head it off before it gets a strong hold. (I suspect it too late already.) I am told his last day is this Friday. What?? No notice and 2 weeks before just can see the next specialist and start over. Remicade infusion was 5 days ago and provided no relief. Yes, I am whining, self pity is my friend. Ok done complaining, just frustrated and feeling lousy. Hope it's going better for the group.

Sorry to hear you are so hard hit right now Shanen and hope you soon get a break and alternative therapy that will help you.
Surely you wont have to wait for two weeks for relief. Feel better soon.
I was abruptly woken up by ambulances, fire truck,police...etc inthe small hours this morning.
They turn off their sirens but the flashing lights drive me crazy...i dont like being closed in
I live high enough to not need closed blinds, but i had to close them or else get migraine.
Really bothers me. Such is life..

Sorry in advance Shanen but would you like some cheese and biscuits with that whine ?....But I am really sorry you're feeling poorly, honest injun…
For the uninitiated a whinger is just a moaning Minnie in this part of the world.Mandy glad your back safe kidda and hopefully unattached. ??? Kirsty I thought you were going to say the blue hair was a side effect of meds...You sound better than a while ago though so fingers x'd.s for me,well I've had two nights of restless leg syndrome, restless everything actually, so not much sleep.Stomach a bit weird too.I'm on 8 tablets per day now,6 of one and 2 of the other so maybe I'm just not used to them yet.I don't care as long as I get some ZZZZsss tonight.

I wonder if Remicade wears off and/or becomes less effective over the two months in between infusions. My gut has been sore and the big D has returned, going on two weeks now. My next Remicade infusion is tomorrow and I am hoping it brings some relief. Or perhaps the 50mg azathioprine that I still take every day can cause a flare toward the end of the two month period? I don't think I have eaten anything that could have caused a flare. Not even really sure I am in a flare. This is so confusing! First sign of trouble since surgery last December.:(

Not you too Carol.....it seems to be the time of year for crohns to rear its ugly head.

No more ice here, Trysha. :) I found some the other day up in the surrounding hills that the 4x4 couldn't navigate. It was uphill and around a corner as well. My old truck could have done it... Hi ya I’ll send some pics soon of the house we’ve been renovating. We will start to move stuff across soon. Shan it’s hard when specialists resign or retire. My gyno has just retired with two weeks notice.

I’ve had a bone density scan this week. Next week is another decal calprotectin and spine and sacral X-ray.

Had chest and shoulder pain today saw doc. In January I had crushing chest pain and waited it out. Doc told me off for not calling ambulance. So today I saw him. No biggy just a cartilage issue.

Dropped to 22.5 prednisone now. Distension starting to come back. Pains already here.

Work is great, very busy. Can’t wait to move in to new wee home.

Enjoy weekend everyone. It’s Friday night here. Happy Friday [emoji16]

I hope you'll be really happy and settled in your new home Kirsty, although how you can be bothered beats me.'course I am getting decrepit now.I wish I felt as fit as I did even 10yrs ago.But not complaining (whinging) mind. It's just the older I get , life seems to be passing by at an astonishing rate......but I'm feeling much better today after a good sleep.I think the tum trouble was to do with me stuffing my face with blueberries and rasps. I'm going to stick to choccy eggs today...

I don't know what to think of Assange. I believe he is very clever, however probably going to prison now. Treason is treason... For this there must be a reason. To quote the late and very successful lawyer Johnnie Cochran, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit." I will refrain from commenting on O.J. Simpson though. ;)

Good morning, all!

Kirsty, that entertainment center is a large one- you have a big paint job ahead!

Had Remicade infusion #5 on Friday, and felt better right away. I think this may indicate that my body is now dependent on Remicade to stay in remission. Not a comforting thought, but if it works, I should not complain!

Taking hubby to the hospital today for surgery #2 to remove a tumor in the bladder. Hope the surgeons can get it all out- they were not able to the first time around. Will probably be at the hospital all week.

Best wishes to all of you...

Nutty glad you are feeling better for the remicade. Best of luck to hubby for his op. Hope it goes well. 💕

Kirsty wow thats some entertainment you guys must have...happy painting, for the next week 😃. Take it easy tho girl 💕

Wont be lavish or wasteful.
Thanks for the thoughts Mandy..
Thought it a nice sunny day as i went off to the hair salon.....after which i went for my routine check up with GP....then got lost in the nearby mall..nothing worth buying there.

Hi All,
Well, hubby is home from his surgery and learning to deal with a catheter and bag. The surgeons think they got the entire tumor out this time. I felt better after my Remicade infusion last week, but the stress of all this has caused the belly aches and bigD to return again. More aches in the upper area this time, so the GI doc has scheduled a breath test for SIBO (apparently a common problem in folks who have the resection) and an MRI and upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. Recent blood test shows no inflammation markers, so maybe it's just temporary, and once he is stabilized I will feel better. Stress can cause so much DIStress!
Glad to hear you all are finding the things you lose around the house- I am just at the losing stage, not the finding one yet!!!:ylol:

To those of you who celebrate Easter.have a happy time full of peace and love.
And to those of you who, like me,don't celebrate Christian festivals, have a happy time, full of love and peace......alas,there's been more trouble in the World the last couple of days so peace and love seems not be acceptable, even for a few days.

Happy day to you as well Carol and all. If you're spending time with family enjoy the time together. I agree peace and love seems to be in short supply lately. 🐣

Nutty glad hubbys op went well, hope he has a quick and smooth recovery. Hope you feel better soon, stress is certainly not crohns friendly. Best wishes to you both. 💕

Spelled or spelt are both correct although in the USA spelled is preferred maybe because
spelt is also a grain which is used in foods.

With winters footprints in the past
And snows begin to melt at last
With longer days and shorter nights
The wayward winds of March take flight

Four winds she holds within her grip
Then hurls them from her fingertips
Her woolley fleecy clouds of white
She sets in skies of blue delight

Her wild bouts of gusty breezes
Roar through valleys hills and trees
That high pitch whistling song she sings
Awakens earth and flowering things

She tears a hole in heavens sky
So sun can shine and rain can cry
She welcomes April showers in
Then gathers up her dwindling winds

Now her long journey home begins
Knowing she’ll be back this way
When nights grow short and daysgrow long
Listen for her whistling song

The Lost Property office at Dublin Airport Ireland has an unclaimed tombstone with the words "You will always be remembered, never forgotten".

The heat-proof sleeve on the outside of a disposable coffee cup is called a "zarf"

Breathing the air in New Delhi is the equivalent to smoking 45 cigarettes a day

Somewhere out there is a somebody who could use that tombstone....
Zarf rhymes with barf which is the result of drinking from cardboard cups...

What an awful long time your nieces eye problem has taken Trysha. And still not resolved.Still,I'm sure she (and all the family) will be relieved to get home. There's just no place better than your own bed.

Knife crime in the UK is at the highest level EVER.Almost daily, someone is losing a loved one, somewhere.Mostly cities and young kids. What have we done or not done,to allow things to get so ?

Sadly i believe some problems are imported.....neglectful or ignorant parentage,
failure at schools.
It all starts with self discipline and needs to be instilled in children as they grow.
As kids if we even looked the wrong way it brought a swat....spare the rod spoil the child
I dont believe in physical punishment..there are plenty of other ways attuned to age...such as sitting on the bottom stair for ten minutes,,standing in the corner, no cake for tea....etc
Schooling in self discipline..self knowledge...self control..
Parents are the ultimate example of optimal ways to live...reinforced by school teachers and people in authority.
Too often now we witness un parliamentary behaviours....leaders should lead as good examples.
I could go on...but will end here.
Hope everyone is having a good spring day....
I am writing this while at physiotherapy now getting acupuncture then physiotherapy...
saves me from falling into little pieces like a piece of Dresden china.
