did a dry goods shop today , have enough flour to bake brown bread until the new year , even got a new stand mixer from amazon (to help with the mixing) as the arthritis in my hands is getting a bit worse , have an appointment with a new radiologist at the start of December , the last clown said my joint pain had nothing to do with my UC , here's to new meds for the new year .

I need a break from the election coverage! How difficult is it for people in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada to count the votes! I was looking forward to something enjoyable to watch tomorrow, but now Covid has canceled the Ute Football Team's season opener against Arizona. I'm very sad.

Tony, while I was on the last course of steroids, the lower back pain, which I've had since four years after I was dx'd with colitis, disappeared .It returned less than a week after I finished the steroids. Now that says to me that there's inflammation in my back. I mentioned it to my IBD nurse and she's going to discuss it with the consultant.
I had a text yesterday from my GP on behalf of the NHS asking me to volunteer for a trial covid vaccination.!!!
Needless to say I've ignored. it. ,thank you very much for the kind offer.

that's a good point about the steroids , wonderful drugs until you try to stop taking them ,but the last time I was on then the inflammation was way down , hopefully this new rheumatologist will come up with something new .

Mandy are you OK ? I hope so me darlin', you've been quiet for a while (for you, that is )
Still no news from Trysha….it's such a worry.

hey Carol , hopefully all is good with them , how are you and hubby doing ?

Good thanks Tony. One day's much the same as the last but we go out every day, walking or cycling. We're good friends, which helps a lot.
I would love to go back to our "dog" days though.Life was really good then.....I expect Alfie has grown into his mature self by now ? Or maybe not
hahaha

we're good thanks Chris, better than a lot of poor souls that's for sure.

MANDY what's up sweetheart ? Trysha I'm really worried about you

hey Carol ,hey Chris , to be honest Christmas used to be a special day but even before covid Christmas had gone too commercial ,I'm turning into Victor Meldrew ,anyway rant over ,Amazon has been dropping all sorts of stuff at the door , IT WASN'T ME I SWEAR ,any way trying to keep busy ,building a new gaming computer for my son for Christmas ,still waiting on loads of bits but I'm hopeful they will arrive before Christmas ,hope everyone is doing even a little better hugs and hope from a sunny Cobh (Ireland )

Oh thank goodness ,I was feeling like Bessie - no - mates again....Lovely pic Tony. As to Christmas ,it's well known that we don't do it.
Since Scott went to Austalia 20+ yrs ago,we don't bother. It's just like a Sunday but with fruit cake, for us.When we had Alfie we used to go for a run and a hike in the countryside with a pic-nic ,if it's fine - ish this year we'll go for a bike ride.We have had a couple of Aussies xmas's,which were wierd

I'm really concerned about Mandy's absence now. Covid has been rife in her area so fingers x'd for her and her family.

Also Trysha of course, please let us know how you both are .

these are worrying times Chris but there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel , new vaccines and treatments are immanent , and hopefully a more stable US government coming on stream will help , big hugs to Mandy and Trysha , be well and be safe .

Hey folks, just here to lighten the mood. I hope all are as well as can be. Okay, think of the tune of the song, "The Gambler," by Kenny Rogers while you read this verse.

"You gotta know when it's Rona/ When it's a colda/ When it's the flu for you/ and when it's AIDS
/You never touch your eyelids when you're out among the peasants/ There'll be time enough for touching, once your ass is home!"

-Philip Solo

Hi peeps,

I hope everyone is well, and if not moving towards a better state of health. I know I'm not that funny, but I really care about you folks. Give us a shout if you can, for those of us who have been absent. I know I care about you, I also feel that everyone else cares too. Trysha , fuzzy butterfly ... AKA, Mandy. :)

I know things are tough right now. Please be well, I wish you nothing but the very best my friends. XX

Peace and love,

-C

just checking in , hope everyone is ok , hey Carol , Mandy and Trysha hugs and good thoughts heading your way , hey Chris hope you're doing better , has the appointment with the rheumatologist a few days ago , no great hope there , just went through the motions , anyway Christmas is coming and the sprouts will be cooking soon .

I asked hubby what he wanted for xmas lunch and guess what ?...…..Omelette !!! Suites me. I don't eat much now and he says I make the best omelettes.I might chuck a couple of sprouts on his plate so it looks like I've made an effort.....

omelettes are always good , my fav would be with onion tomato and mushroom except I cant eat mushrooms anymore (they cause blockages)

Well, I don't have a bag yet... But I still think I could knock a buzzard off a shit wagon with enough sausage and beer! ;) No insult intended about your situation, Tony. Carol is right, what happens at a crohnies party stays there. Therefore we should get the penthouse suite at the Hilton and leave it there... City of your choice of course. ;)

Dear Santa,
Please could I have a fat bank balance and a thin body for Christmas...…..and try not to mix them up like you did last year....and the year before,

I went to top off the bird feeders again, while I was on the ladder I had a dozen or so chickadees within a foot of me. They were chirping and being very sociable. I'll try to get a picture of them eating out of my hand soon. Winning!

We've been to the park and I took 2 fat bags of bird food to scatter...….They can sue me if they like but they'll have a fight on their hands.

I'm still more than worried about Mandy and Trysha….if you're checking in ladies get well soon.We miss you x

Same sentiments here, Carol. I really hope everyone we miss will be alright. On another subject... I found an injured yellow grosbeak outside hiding in a pile of leaves, in front of the house around lunch time. I think he has a concussion and maybe broken bones. He seems very strong and feisty as he bit my leather gloves more than once. He is not in pain when I handle him... He doesn't appear to be bleeding, but his outlook is bleak. One leg seems to be immobile and he was fluttering and walking with one leg and both wings. I took him back to the woodshed and scattered bird seed for him. He's hiding under the mower, (good spot).

That's all you can do Chris.Nature will do the rest.It would be good if he pulled round though.

Read in yesterday's paper that Mistletoe is in popular demand this Xmas !!! What happened to the NO KISSING rule ???

Chris,we should all have a padded room to go to where we can punch the walls and yell until our anger, sadness and mental anguish passes.Failing that, deck the first bloke that looks at you the wrong way.

37,000 new cases and 700 deaths today.

I used to put the smack down on assholes... I can still do it, no doubt. ;) I only scrap for fun now, or if I'm being ganged up on/or it's a serious dude. Yeah, yeah... I hope everyone is well... As well as well can be.

I always think that however sick, miserable, lonely and upset I am,there are lots more in a worse situation.Especially little kids.So let's count our blessings and look forward with hope.

happy Christmas Chris , Carol , and all the regulars , Mandy , Trysha and Ron , have a great Christmas and a safe healthy new year , hope your hubby enjoys his lovely omelette Carol

He did Tony and the trifle. It was just a normal quiet day for us but we don't mind.We don't exchange presents now,we have all we need and more.Very best to you all x

Tomorrow I get to play with my presents. I bought them myself... Yup, motorcycle parts. I got new front brake pads and everything needed for my next service. $$$... I'm so glad I got my license in 2019. Whew! I hope everyone is doing well. Trysha and FuzzyButterfly , I especially hope you are doing okay.

Enjoy yourself Chris but please wait until Spring before you go riding. If it's worth having it's worth waiting for, which goes for most things
Watching Attenborough in the Canadian mountains just now.He hasn't said where he is exactly, but it's so beautiful.

The world is a beautiful place,it's greed and war that has made some of it ugly.
We are now in Tier Four here.Might as well be in lockdown.New cases are soaring and deaths show no sign of slowing down.but no doubt there'll be boozy parties tonight....bloody fools.

Very best to you all. We've got to hope at the start of a New Year so let's hope it's not in vain.(y)

I was going to quit my bad habits for the New Year...but no-one likes a quitter. ;)

hope is the last thing to go , and those of us with long term illnesses are fairly good at hoping and looking on the bright side , at least the vaccine is getting closer , happy new year to all our fellow crohnies and uc'ers .

I've given up on thinking for today, Carol. Time for a rum. ;^)
I actually thought you said "run" new glasses time ,

enjoy your Rum Chris , Unused to drink the Jamaica rum years ago but over did it once and even the smell of it now makes me nauseous .

That sounds like me and the "new" Campbell's Creamy Thai, Chicken and Rice... Don't eat it! There's no mention of putrid fish on the label. Unless you read it really close they fool you. They got me anyway. I'm gonna use the other can for target practice... Believe that! ;)

I'm having a dilly of a day here. My mother is depressed and acting mean. My father is grocery shopping and he's told me before he left that I'm not really needed to wipe down the groceries. He's being mean. I'm not looking to be ganged up on AGAIN! I've been cleaning and putting things away for a long time, However, as It's totally not needed.... or so I've been told. I'll carry the cooler in (heavy) The rest is up to them to bicker about. I'm not helping ingrates unless it's for their own good ie, carrying heavy things for father who has hernias. I'm very offended. I've been called lazy, picked on for not even mowing the lawn (because I can't) My mother plays solitaire seven hours a day and watches 2 soaps on top of that. and I'm lazy! Funny how that works.

hey Chris all I can say is hang on in there ,it might get better , easy for me to say though as I can't abide being wronged and normally loose the plot and tell them to feck off , but with parents it can be hard , but sometimes you have to have your say no matter the consequences , be safe .

I'm just staying out of it. I think It's covid fever instead of cabin fever. I simply remove myself from the situation if the folks act this way. There's nothing else to do when it's parents. Thanks, Tony.

Oh my goodness !!! I had honestly given up on you so I'm very happy to see you again xxx

Thought I better pop in In case this thread disappears forever. It was lovely to see Trysha the other day and such a relief.
Now we just need Mandy to let us know all's well with her.Stay safe and well friends. We've come this far so we can
do it for as long as we need to.x

hey Carol , all well here hope you and hubby are doing well , nice to see Trysha again , hey Chris hope all is calming down on the home front and you and your family are keeping safe , Mandy our thoughts and prayers are with you , hope to see you soon ,
any sign of the vaccine for you Carol ?, at least one good thing about brexit for ye is that the vaccines are being approved faster with no big brother(euro) red tape .
Be well my friends and hopefully we'll come out the other side of this nightmare by the summer / autumn .

No sign of jabs yet Tony. They're not done with the over 80s and care staff yet, although they're doing a good job up here in the North East so it won't be long hopefully. For Les especially what with his cancer and heart attack in 18mnths.Today he's at the hospital getting the results of his prostate investigation !!!! then there's just his hernia to sort out. He's been fit and well all his life so I suppose we should be glad all this is going on post retirement.hahaha apart from his hearing aid, specs and dentures he'll hopefully be back to his old self soon.

Les getting his jab on wednesday.......Just read an article in the paper I thought I'd share.
125yrs ago a motorist was stopped for speeding by a policeman on a bike.At 8mph he was 6mph over the limit and DID NOT have a man with a red flag walking in front !!! Maybe at 8mph the driver had run him down 'cos he couldn't run faster than that ?

that's great Carol ,hope you get yours soon after .

we are getting limited supplies here in Ireland , the country esp the general area I live in has a lot of pharmaceutical companies yet none of them are producing vaccines , the UK are doing well with their program compared to us but they no longer have to put up with the red tape of the EU and have two factories producing their vaccine more or less exclusively for the UK , but take heart Chris , there are quite a few vaccines coming on stream esp the Johnson and Johnson one which is one shot and can be stored normally , I think by Autumn (Fall) we should all be sorted , keep safe in the meantime .

Have got my jab apt.for Sunday and my 2nd one early May.Hope yours is'nt
too far away Tony and every one else.
that's brilliant Carol ,really really for you and your family ,it will take some of the terror away ,
my best guesstimate for vaccine would be June / July ,
I'm just 60 so I'm a bit down the queue the way they are doing it here , it's over 85's first then over 70's , then over 65's and people with compromised immune systems ,
they might include me in that lot but it's the availability of vaccine that will decide
.we are lucky enough to live close to the sea for stoney beach walks and have a big enough garden and our son lives in his own cottage on the same plot of land so we are blessed in that regard so well able to hold out till then . hope Trysha and Mandy are ok sending positive thoughts for both of you .

Jab went well yesterday. It was in a sports hall and the volunteers were amazing at keeping things going smoothly, and were so cheerful and friendly. It makes such a difference after all the misery.Wont be long for yours young Tony.

Delighted for you Carol ,
they are doing well with the vaccines they have in hand in Ireland , but the EU have make a mess of getting vaccines , have to hand it to Boris he made sure all the vaccines produced in the UK are going into UK arms ,
I think it could be June if im lucky before I get the first one , hopefully J&J's one shot vaccine will be approved soon as they seem to be the company that can produce huge amounts quickly
