Oh, Trysha !!! I can't believe you were hurrying for anything given the past few months you've been through.PLEASE use your walker and give yourself plenty of time.

Instead of a sign saying DO NOT DISTURB
I need one that says ALREADY DISTURBED....PROCEED WITH CAUTION !!!

Hi. I'm winning at something.

Since July I've been in a long flare. Entyvio failed. My G.I. prescribed Stelara and the insurance started a 5 month battle, denying coverage for it. Meantime only Prednisone has my symptoms under control. I've had diarrhea, abdominal pain, lack of bowel control, and am wearing depends.its been my worst flare since before diagnosis.

Sandy is doing well.

Merry Xmas

hey Doug , sorry to hear you are so poorly , sound like the condition I was in before I had my colectomy , can't remember if you have Crohns or UC , but the only think that sorted me was getting rid of my colon almost completely ,
just saying that from my viewpoint it changed my life , for the better , i had lost serious weight , I was around 120 lbs and dropping and even high doses of pred stopped working , now 5 years post op I am doing a lot better , good weight (around 180) ,

anyway hope Sandy and yourself have a great Christmas and a healthier new year

Searched everywhere Trysha.A couple of weeks ago I found his wallet in the frying pan.He didn't know it was missing. He has a tool drawer above the pan cupboard and it had fallen over the back.No oil in the pan luckily. He;s not to be trusted to think what he's doing. It was his drivers licence I ordered on line and not the bank cards.I had to phone for those and one came today but when I tried to register it I was told there was a block on it and has to go to the bank with his ID, either passport which is way out of date,or drivers licence which won;t be here for a week or two. Our local bank closed a few years ago and we've to go 5mls along the coast to our nearest one.Just heard on the news yesterday that THAT one is closing next year.I really do not want to bank on-line but might have to...... how are you feeling Trysha ?
hey Carol there is a great online banking option called Revolut , so easy to set up and really easy to use , you dont even need a physical card you can just use it from your phone , and speaking of loosing wallets I lost mine a couple of years ago and had to replace everything , eventually it was found in Lidl on a shelf in the managers office , the only reason it was returned was that someone I know spotted my photo in the wallet and returned it nearly a year later , ,
I also lost again a few years ago , replaced everything again ,and then found it down the side of the couch , the handy thing with the revolut banking is that you really dont need a physical card as you can do everything on the phone

Thanks for that Tony.I'll certainly consider it.I'm going to hang on until we get a letter. We've been with the same bank for 40yrs and I dislike being bulldozed into doing what I don't want to do.I know there are many others of the same ilk. It's not that I can't.....I mean I know 15+15 is 30 and 15+15 is 32 .

Sorry you're not having a good time Doug but at least something is working for you. It's really good to see you after all this time.Give my best to Sandy,I often think about her.Hope you feel better for the holidays and peace and love to you both.xxx

Boo, I'm winning! I think of you all often, too. Doug spent the night in the hospital with a partial bowel obstruction, but they think it's going to resolve without surgery. He's already a lot better. Hopefully, he'll come home today.

Thanks Tony. I have Crohn's. I had 24 hours of bowel rest. After I ate and passed a very small amount of stool they sent me home. I had no pain then. This morning I have some abdominal pain and bloating. Will see what today brings

I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
And sweet to remember
We are nearer to Spring than we were in September
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December..........How're you Trysha ???

I saw my G.I. doctor yesterday as a followup to my hospital stay. Because I have been in a Crohn's flare they don't know if the blockage is from scar tissue at my old surgery site, or due to inflammation from active Crohn's. He is pausing my prednisone taper until I can start Stelara.

He told me if the bowel obstruction is due to scar tissue I will need surgery.

hope you can get the Stelara ASAP , Pred is a wonderful drug until you have to taper , it took me a long time to get off it the last time , to be honest I insisted on a very long taper , doc was trying to get me off in 6 weeks or so , I did it in 6 months ,
I had a few partial obstructions and they were my own fault , eating the wrong food and not chewing enough , not a pleasant experience , senting good thoughts your way that you won't need the surgery .

The liquor store owner wished me A Merry Xmas yesterday

as if he wasn't going to see me ten more times before then.....
What's with this" Liquor store " , the offie , you mean , stop getting notions girl ,.
I'd love a cold beer but my boss is convinced it's not in my beat interest , bah humbug

Hahaha Tony.......can't believe you want a COLD beer.Has your home country floated down to the Equator and if so can we come for Christmas ???

Nope it's freezing here as well , n9t as bad as ye , roads are okish and no feckin snow ,top temp today 1C , but the sun is shining in the window so can turn the heat off for a couple of hours ,
Not chancing going for a little walk , in case I snap a few bones

I used to envy people who could do a cartwheel
Now I'm jealous of anyone who can get up off the floor without making grunting noises and holding onto furniture

so so true , it's getting to where I have to make a decision on whether it's worth getting down in the first place

Coming up for air again…things are improving thanks Carol.
the physiotherapist has worked wonders with my leg and removed the pain.
it is still a bit of a problem walking.
I am feeling better….
cheers Everybody…
winning

I have wept in the night at my shortness of sight
That to others' needs made me blind
But I never have yet
Had a twinge of regret
For being a little too kind........

Well Happy Christmas mateys, you can't get on a train
The Border Force is striking so you can't get on a plane
Nurses are on the picket line feeling underpaid and wronged
And if you need anambulance the wait could be prolonged
No turkey on the table, the butcher's got the flu
Here's a yuletide sausage, that will have to do
Let's raise a glass of water, with blankets on our knees
And drink to festive merriment as we gently freeze....Happy Holidays friends.Keep well and keep warm x

Come on friends.you know what they say "use it or lose it" I hope you all had a warm and contented Christmas and are looking forward to next year with hope and not dread.......I cycled to the shop to buy a bottle of gin for the New Year, but then I thought "What if I fall off my bike and the bottle gets broken?" So cleverly,I drank it all outside the shop.Good thing I did too,I fell off my bike seven times on my way home.

Love your post Carol.

I am finally all cleared to start my Stelara. 6 months of fighting the insurance company is over. I'm scheduled for my loading infusion on January 5th, 2023

I know you're dying to know so here goes....The Easter Eggs have appeared on supermarket shelves !!! form an orderly queue.

Trysha are you well ?

so delighted for you Doug , really hoping that it works well for you

I know you're dying to know so here goes....The Easter Eggs have appeared on supermarket shelves !!! form an orderly queue.

Trysha are you well ?
that nuts about the easter eggs on the shelves already , and they are so cheap , kids and adults will be eating them from now to easter , no wonder we have a weight problem in UK and Ireland ,
a funny question , do you ever remember overweight people when you were growing up , I don't and no such thing as fussy eaters , I had two brothers and if one got any perceived extra more there was murder , my poor mother ,

PS Happy New Year everyone , hope everyone has a better new year healthwise

All the best to you and yours Tony.I don't remember either Tony, but everyone walked ,kids to and from school, some men cycled to work or the allotment, floors were scrubbed on hands and knees and widows were cleaned regularly in case you were talked about.Food was cooked from scratch and if you didn't eat your veg and clear your plate there was no pudding. But we only had pud on a Sunday. There was no frozen food, maybe fish fingers, and very little proccessed food. And definately no chinese, indian burger or pizza take away. Fish and chips was a treat, maybe on a Friday.I remember chips in newspaper with salt and vinegar for three old pence. It makes my mouth water thinking about them. Apart from the chips in paper it's much the same in this house hahaha. Please don't start me off about technology...

Hi everyone. I just picked up the Stelara infusion from my doctor's office. Infusion should happen tomorrow at home. But there is another problem. The home infusion company forgot to assign a nurse. They are suppose to call me today and set it up.

Thanks for the thoughts Carol.
Happy New Year to you and Everyone.
still having a few problems but gradually getting better.
it’s a lovely sunny day today looking out the window but I know it’s very cold.
I will go out for a short while….I have missed all the sales but can still have a look around at what’s left.

Happy New Year Everyone……I know it’s a bit late.
we have been told to expect snow…….so far just rain and lots of powerful wind..
not going out in that!
Almost was carried aloft last time…Mary Poppins style…it’s not my style at all.
Still getting long Covid symptoms…….but it’s getting less.
good to see you all in fine form

Any one here have a rapid glucose tolerance test ( type 2 diabetes test) had one yesterday after high glucose in bloods , don’t have a big sweet tooth but have been tired a lot recently even when I get a good nights sleep ,
It’s hard enough at the moment eating food that won’t blow up my ostomy bag so looking for an ostomate who is also diabetic , only six more days for the results .

Best wishes Trysha.Glad you're staying indoors, there will be plenty of fine Spring weather to enjoy in a few weeks,I hope.
Tony, try the search thread.I'm sure there are lots of folk with diabetes 2 on the forum.I would mention UK as sometimes the rest of the world differs in diagnosis and treatment as I'm sure you know .I've been diagnosed borderline for a few years, but have managed to stay that way.I do like my chocolate though,so it's a struggle.

I always new I'd get old.....how quickly it happened was a bit of a surprise though..

Hey Carol , got the news today and diabetes confirmed , was expecting it but still a shock , just have to wait a week to see GP to get a referral letter to diabetics doc

Ah Tony,I'm really sorry.I know the shock I felt when told I was borderline. It's manageable but who need more health problems ? On a lighter not,Les found his lost wallet yesterday after 2 months missing. With cards, drivers licence and £250. It was in a drawer in the spare room that is hardly ever opened. He also found one he didn't even know he'd lost,in an old coat pocket with £5oo in it. Honestly he's not safe to be left.....the bl**dy stress and worry he put me through you wouldn't believe. or maybe you would.

Thanks Carol , good Les finding the wallets esp with the cash in them , got the GP’s appointment pushed up to Thursday morning so that helps a bit , went to the office manager who is brilliant and she sorted me out

The nurse usually makes me feel guilty re; my lifestyle hahaha....I'm active, walk or cycle every day,am not grossly overweight etc.I've played about with my diet since becoming a crohnie in 2006 and not found anything to really suite me. Hungry but no appetite for all the food I used to enjoy.I'm ashamed to say I throw out more food than I eat (for myself not Les )
I must say your neck of the woods seem faster and more helpful.than they are here. Good luck with your appointment and make sure you read all the diet info mind....then put it in a drawer for later.

Me (sobbing my heart out, eyes swollen, nose red) "I can't do this anymore,....I'm not going to let you
hurt me like this again "
Trainer "It was a sit up Carol... you did .one sit up "

An elderly man goes into his doctor's office for an annual physical...

After a while, the doctor comes out and says, "I'm sorry Bill, but we have discovered you have a condition that only allows you another 6 weeks to live."
"But Doctor," Bill replied, "I feel great. I haven't felt better in years. This just can't be true. Isn't there anything I can do?"
After a moment the doctor said, "Well, you might start going down the street to that new health spa and take a mud bath every day."
Excitedly Bill asked, "And that will cure me?"
"No," replied the doctor, "but it will get you used to the dirt."

Very funny Tony…
my life is full of checkups…
the cardiologist said things were looking ok..but..BUT he would like a few tests
done including ECG……that was last week…heard nothing since.
saw a pharmacist in my doctors office …a diabetes specialist who said I don’t have diabetes but they want to monitor blood sugars…..next appt May
yesterday saw my GP who informed me that both lungs are deteriorating and nothing can be done about it.So I am into more tests…one for aorta weakness..CTscan….etc etc etc…
News to me since I am breathing normally and feeling much better than I have been
its fitting in all these appointments.
next week it’s the dermatologist…I could use his help for the rash on my leg and arms….no doubt a medication issue.
and after that the gastroenterologist..
would you believe there was a mistake on the calendar I have …the days were
incorrect for February.
Lucky I had spare 📆 calendars.
Can’t complain they are all free..
end of my essay for the day..
cheers!

Carol…it’s a miracle Les finding his wallets…and after all you have been through!
I am with you ….re food…the hospital food was disgraceful could not eat most of it.
nobody cares anymore.
now I can’t find anything to like….although I can get along with breakfast cereals.
I lost 14 lbs and have not regained it..a real nuisance since I need new clothes to fit
but not yet strong enough for the shopping it needs.

Just use a "cinchie" belt Trysha....you never know you might get an urge for choc and ice cream and sausage rolls etc.....I don't think you can afford to lose any more weight though.I'm surprised your health team haven't suggested a supplement feed like Complan ? Any how,it's good to hear from you and that you're feeling better than you did....ie: I've developed a fondness for Cheese muffins,English of course.Toasted with a good scrape of best butter....yummy

I bought my husband a Pug yesterday

Despite the bulging eyes, the squashed nose and the rolls of fat, the dog seems to quite like him

I really thought for a moment you had bought a Pug Carol……….
I have entered into a new round of doctors visits….
Cardiologist checkup ….good…
Gastroenterologist likewisell
Family doc says lower part of both lungs deterioration incurable…
BUT I am still breathing as good as anyone else….go figure.
He.has referred me to a respirologist…appointment early May…
Dermatologist appointment tomorrow…he’s the only one I need ….perhaps
i will leave the office more beautiful than when I entered……whoops! Just saw
a pig fly past the window…
Cheers!

Well Trysha, most of it's positive and if you're still breathing that's a huge bonus eh? We're just getting through each day and looking forward to aSpringtime and milder weather. The snowdrops are in full loveliness and there are even a few crocus (croci ?) pushing through.....Really sad re; the Turkish\Syria earthquake,,,,the world is really struggling these days...or has it always been so and todays modern media are always looking for grief and disaster ?

The dermatologist sprayed my face…now looking 20 years younger and more
beautiful?
How lovely to hear of your spring flowers blooming already…we still have ice and snow…although it rained with some ice rain.
With my winter armour on I stayed quite dry and comfortable apart from the odd icy patches on the pavement.
there was a puddle on the walker seat so I could not sit down.
Could not wait to get back indoors in the warm.
i would love to see your snowdrops and crocuses in full bloom.
Going back a thousand years there have always been disasters..look at Pompeii….

Hi Trysha,

I stumbled on your post mentioning long covid. I had covid Sept 2022 which felt like a moderate head cold. Prior the covid my iron was low and had a dose of iron IV which got my iron back up but am still tired, exhausted, achy muscles etc. I am wondering if I have long covid. What was your experience with covid? Did you have an acute case? I have CD and am on Remicade. Studies seem to suggest the risk of long covid for IBD patients is no different than anyone else.

Hey everyone ie. Carol and Trysha , hope everyone is doing ok , getting slowly used to less carbs ,can do without bread )just). , but missing the big plates of rice with curry , hopefully when I get bloods done in a month or so they will show an improvement

I'm not looking forward to my annual MOT with the nurse. It's not until May and I tell myself I have a couple of months to sort myself out......but it's a struggle. I don't eat that much to start with but I certainly don't have a healthy diet.......I make sure Les does but I don't like what he does and can't be faffed for myself. I hope your endeavours (or your good lady's) work Tony. Let me know. TRYSHA how're you ?

I'm the cook in our house so it's not too hard to adapt to cutting out most of the crap , my poor ostomy is like Vesuvius with all the fruit and veg and the tablet s I'm on Metformin are making me nauseous but I really have no choice,
Going to try a burger later with iceberg lettuce as the buns , should be interesting ,
Anyway take care of yourself and Les , Hey Trysha

Winning!

The week before Christmas I ended up in the ER because of a partial bowel obstruction. It was not known if the obstruction is due to scar tissue at my old surgery site or from inflammation from my current flare. I was kept overnight, and I started passing stool, so they sent me home. My G.I. told me if this becomes a consistent problem because of scar tissue, surgery is necessary.

Last night as I went to bed I felt something move in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen. This is were my surgery was done 12 years ago. Suddenly I was in severe pain. I got up, walked around a bit. I felt movement again and the pain went away. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Not personally but my mother (Crohns) post op used to have a lot of pain from adhesions/scar tissue ,

Hop3 you get an answer soon Doug

I bought my husband a rocket for his forthcoming birthday........he's over the moon !!!

Trysha I hope you are well ?

hey Carol , Trysha and Doug , hope everyone is doing even just a little bit better

I haven't had that incident again. But still fighting Crohn's Disease symptoms. Getting ready for my first shipment of stelara injections. Also in the process of applying for disability.

Hopefully the stelara will help Doug and ye will be out on the lakes fishing again

I'm worried about Trysha I really hope all is well for her XX

Tony,how's the diet going ?
Sandy and Doug,I hope you're both keeping well. Are you still canoeing/kayaking and fishing.(in the summertime of course )

Hey Carol , diet not too bad , but the gallbladder is getting annoying and had a trip to a&e with pain on the left side of the back , seven hours later after scans X-ray s and bloods done , doc said it seem as if I pulled something in by the ribs ,
Anyway that was my trip out yesterday , hope yourself and Les are doing ok

We're OK Tony ta ! Fed up with appointments and ph.consultations.Mostly Les,,,,,,BP,Bloods, urine tests etc.But at least they're doing something so shouldn't complain..They've put me on a tablet (4) for bile acid mal absorbtion to see if it helps with the urgency 2-3 hrs every morning from 5am. It's been going on for over 2mnths and I could kill for a lie in.I hope you feel better soon my friend.

By replacing your morning coffee with a green smoothie,
you can lose up to 87% of what little joy you still have left in your life

Honestly Tony you could be down the bank on our prom at the mouth of the Tyne....Lovely pics :)
really lucky to live close to the harbour , always something to see and its always calming which I need at the moment ,
lodged a cheque from a motor dealer to my bank on the 16th of March and the bloody thing hasn't cleared yet , apparently the week after Patricks Day is a slow week for the banks , hate cheques , it took the car dealer a week to tell me they couldn't complete an iban transfer to my bank because its a german bank , anyway feeling good , sun is shining between heavy showers so the dog might get another walk , hope everyone is ok .

I honestly believe that no body gives a **** about good service these days. It's either take it or leave it with a shrug you can't see...I thought it was just me getting old but I know you're younger and cleverer than wot I am,so it's just the way of things now.....No word from Trysha eh ? I hope she shows up soon.

Hello Brad
sorry for the delay in replying
i was quite I’ll and hospitalized with Covid plus pneumonia..spent almost a month in hospital.
the symptoms of Covid are still with me and I wish they would go.
not much can be done.
Anyone who has Covid can get long Covid symptoms.
hope you are now better

Hello Everyone
sorry I disappeared on you.
I have been struggling with long Covid plus getting through too many appointments with assorted specialists….
theweather is no help
it seemed ok yesterday and I needed some milk and water so went to the store.
when I returned on the way home enormous gusts of wind took me off my feet.
fortunately three people helped me to a bus shelter where I sat for an hour
looking at my apartment building opposite but unable to get there because of the wind.
Finally a kind gentleman helped me to get across the road and into my building.
it was a nightmare.
Sorry I was awol for so long…it has been a long haul.
Cheers!

aw Trysha, you poor soul, Is there anything else medically that can have a go at you ? It goes without saying that I'm relieved to hear from you,Please feel better soon but I know Long Covid is just that. Is there no-one near by that would get you some shopping ? I think you have a walker so please don't leave home without it. hugs x

hey Trysha , good to hear from you , sorry that you are having such a hard time of it , hope you get some relief soon .

was dragged bed shopping today , never knew that a good bed cost so much these days , my boss eventually decided and im still recovering from the shock , she spent €2000 on a bed and a mattress , ah shur i don't need to eat much at this time of the year

You'll love it Tony..my mam used to say spend well on shoes and beds, because if you're not in one you'll be in the other.

Hope all's well over there Tony and the weather's kind for the holiday weekend'
Trysha, how are you feeling me darlin'? I truly hope you're improving some, sending hugs x

that's a great saying Carol , all much be good on the Tyne at the moment with Newcastle doing so well

Wow Tony, just stunning, and the scenery's lovely too....I could hug Alfie he has such a smiley face.
I took Les's suit to the cleaners and they wanted £15...I ask you,£15 the suit didn't cost that when we wed.
So I took it next door to the charity shop. They cleaned and pressed it and put it in the window and I bought it back for £4-50

Hope the new bed is living up to expectations Tony or am I being too personal ???☘

Trysha, just letting you know I'm thinking about you and hope all's well.....💐

Bed is spectacular Carol,
I feel like I need a stepladder to get up to it , got good news on my diabetes bloods , gone from 59 to 43 , but my B12 had taken a dive so I need weekly shots for a few weeks to boost it ,
Hope
Yourself and Len are doing ok and Newcastle
are still flying with there Saudi money 💰😀

we are ok Tony ta,but I've got my annual MOT with the GPs nurse tomorrow and am not looking forward to it.My diabetes
level has been borderline for years and I have a feeling trouble's ahead..but we''ll see. I wish the weather would warm up a wee bit ,it's so cold and grey here lately.Good news re; your D. though. You can send my meals if you like......mind you don't roll over in that bed and break something important.......enjoy your weekend.

Miserable hear as well Carol , hope all goes well with the MOT , hope you don’t need any new parts , I could part with half a liver but everything else is wearing out 😁
