Brrrrrr, Bufford, that's cold in your neck of the woods!
We just bought ourselves a little something to help avoid being bored in Doug's retirement years. It's a new little camping trailer (aka caravan)! Not sure when we'll be able to pick it up as we have to make some repairs to the electrical part of our tow package on our SUV, but should be within a week or two. So excited to try it out in the near future.

Nice, Sandy

Oh Sandy n Doug that looks a little belter. Hope you have many fun trips in it. You can park it in my back garden anytime by the way ☺. 💞

No nurse yet. Called my insurance for a case manager.

Ron thats ridiculous the time you have been waiting. So angry on your behalf i am. How dare they!!!. Give me the number il have it sorted for you. So wish i was at yours now mate. They wouldnt know what hit them if i got on to them. Im fumming for you. 💝

I would have replied earlier, Ron, but when I saw your post (I must have been composing mine when you posted yours), I was on the way out the door with Doug to get the wiring on the one vehicle fixed. I agree with Mandy, Ron, it's ridiculous the amount of time you have had to spend waiting. Call them again, several times a day if you have to, to get a response. If you pester them enough, they'll want to take care of it so if nothing else, they don't have to hear from you again. You know, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I know you also want to be kind at the same time to those that help you though, it's a balancing act. (And I know you're kind in general.) But sometimes you just have to speak up for yourself until you are heard. Hugs.

You guys and gals are too kind. I wish there weren't an ocean (and most of our continent) between us Mandy. We do look forward to many adventures though. Someday it would be great to visit England, ancestral home of some of our ancestors. Someday also, we might take a trip cross country and it would be lovely to meet you and wife, Ron, if you really want to. I love Virginia, I lived in Charlottesville for a few months many, many years ago, way before I met Doug. Some day I would also like to see New York City (I've been to the state, just not New York City), as well. Hugs to all.

Sandy, we were 20 mins away from new York city for 4 years. Argh you missed it. Now I have no idea what I'm 20 mins away from. It's a bustling interstate [emoji23]

I'm concerned about hubby's infusion. He needs it in 3 weeks and I don't think his insurance will be settled by then. We are trying to expedite the process but right now I have no option other than to wait and pray. It's a very hard situation to be in, not knowing if we will receive the life saving medication or suffer without it [emoji852]

Wishing the best for your husband, Madhu.

Arrggghhh, insurance issues drive me nuts! I wish the best for both of you. And who knows, Madhu, maybe we can make our (eventual) cross country trip extra long and come and meet you too sometime. In fact, I think it would be great to meet all of you. Prob not practical, but I can dream. :)

Wishing the best for your husband, Madhu.

Same here! I hope your husband gets his meds on time Madhu. I also hope you get used to your new place soon. I think I would like to live in Texas, hopefully you end up enjoying it too.

Ron, I wish the best to you my friend. I agree with all those above, this is a very poor standard of care on behalf of the insurance, the hospital, or both! Someone is guilty of breach of duty.

Sending support to all, hang in there.

I feel for you Madhu and Ron....it’s bad enough having this illness without people making life impossible and worrying whether Meds will be available or not.
Hopefully it will soon be resolved for you both
Did you try calling your doc Ron...
Hello Trev...good to see you again
Carol if you are looking for jobs my oven could use a wash and brush up.....also could use a bit of shopping for essential top ups...and I could use a bit of company with a sense of humour.....bring your bike ....our buses are a bit erratic this weather....and I could use a little lump of coal for my physiotherapist.I was telling him of our custom first footing at New Year and taking a piece of coal for the neighbours to be prosperous in the New Year..
Sandy..... your caravan is lovely...very neatly laid out ..where will the Woofee 😴 💤 sleep
Winning............

Snowing today,so no cycling.Trysha...I still have the lump of coal and a candle that my dear old Dad used. He's stand outside at 11-58pm on New Years Eve and come back in when the ships on the Tyne blew their hooters. He was always our First Foot. When I got married, it was always one of the dogs first over the threshold, after they been out for the first pee of the new year.....ah.happy days.
This thread has a way of invoking memories, both happy and sad,but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Sandy where's the bathroom ????

I hope you have many happy trips,as we did for 35yrs.Such good times and adventures......

Life is a one time shot. Sandy enjoy your new camper, its great way to get out and see the country. I have enjoyed many trips to the cabin, but to have one with wheels definitely takes it up another level.

Carol the bathroom is directly across from the refrigerator, etc. It’s for sure a small space but covers the necessities. We have an 18ft very similar. You’ll love it Sandy!
Insurance delayed my last Remicade infusion so they could “research if it was a necessary medication”. Hmphhh. Spend some time in our world for a while without maintenance meds. Why should an insurance company decide your medical needs?? Rant over. Stay well everyone.

Thie nurse is coming this afternoon to give me my Entyvio. Yeah. My father is in the hospital with pneumonia. Winning.

So glad the nurse is on the way Ron ☺
Sorry your father is unwell hope he makes a quick recovery 💞

Hey Ron no need for thanks. You know im here for you anytime. I wish you and your father well soon. 💕

Hi Chris how are you doing at the moment. Hope things on the family front are improving. Same goes for you too, if you need me im here. 💕

Shanen hi how are you?
I couldnt agree more re insurance companies. . The nerve of them messing about with peoples health n lives😠
Mind you insurance companies generaly like to take our money but never want to pay out. At least highway men wore masks
Those lot are just bare faced about robbing us blind. 😠

Agree.

Hiya, Jeff, welcome! I hope you find the Crohn's forum as helpful as it has for most of us here (including supporters of IBDers). This Last One Wins thread, aka LOW, is a great place to be silly, serious or whatever stage inbetween you want to be. We get to know each other pretty well here, but more importantly, care about each other greatly. Welcome to our family.

Thanks, Shanen, I was going to point out the little dot across from the kitchen sink that functions as a bathroom. :ylol: Although we've had a tent trailer, which had a lot more sleeping space, it had no bathroom facilities so this is a major improvement, especially for those with an IBD or those of us who take diuretics (Doug takes Hydrochlorothiazide and I take lasix.)
Today I had a specialized echocardiogram, plus a CT angiogram to verify the blood clots in the lungs. The good thing is that since they put me back on blood thinners, I've been breathing better and feel like I have a little more energy, so if it turns out clear I'll be happy. I like the cardiologist (Dr Ryan) soooooooo much better than any doc I've had.
In re insurance companies, I've often said that insurance companies play doctor, without a license, and some doctors play God, without the compassion or knowledge, tho they think they know it all. Still, I'm grateful they are there, when they do what they should.
Happy day everyone. :ghug:

Hi and welcome jeff. Sorry for your need to be here. Glad you have found us though. We are crazy bunch but we have love and caring and understanding to share. 💕

Hi Jeff and welcome.Tell us about yourself.....don't believe what Mandy says,we're not ALL crazy, just 99% of us (them).

Carol i hope you have included you and I in that 99% .. lets have right we cant deny we are crazy... in a good way though 😃😃

Sneaking in for the win. Sandy, your camper looks awesome! I hope everybody is well. I've been working, working, working. I finish my training tomorrow, have Saturday off, then start my actual work schedule on Sunday! So I'm busy but enjoying it and doing okay for the most part. Winning!

Glad your enjoying it Cat, also that you are doing ok. Hope you are getting some rest time in tho. 💞

I noticed Jeff hasn't posted again !!! was it something you said Mandy ?
Ron,you don't have to agree to EVERYTHING,you don't live close enough for a good smack.

Sometimes it gets hard to keep up with all that's going on, but I still peak in from time to time.

With me living in the UK ,every one is on-line when I'm snuggled up in bed.During the day,I feel like Bessie No Mates replying to posts when no ones about. :( I might have to start putting my
alarm clock on so that I can join in the banter.Mandy does make a flying visit before work, thanks Mandz.:)

Carol they dont call me the fly for nothing :).
Im always flying about....least im well enough to be flying :) for that im truely thankful .
Hope everyone is having a good day 💞

I'm here Carol. Hi!

Thanks Madhu. How are you feeling ? :rosette2: Has your new place stared to feel like home yet and have you met the neighbours ? Good, quiet neighbours are a blessing these days so I hope yours fit the bill.Did you get hubby's meds etc. sorted ?

Just looking outside my igloo to see where everyone is.....it’s a bare landscape today and
I think everyone must be hiding from the snow.
Still snowing for the second day in a row.....can’t go very far this weather but it does make for lovely scenery.
I’m very tired doing nothing..
Winning.......

I'm feeling better now Carol. Thanks for asking. We are still living among boxes but it's starting to feel like home. My husband's employer has sent the insurance enrolment link a week in advance because we requested. We are enrolling this weekend and hopefully should be able to reach the meds on time. Hope you're keeping well and all set for a ride on Blackie tomorrow xx

It's a beautiful day.Cloudless blue sky and sunny (of course) Only 2c so far but we're going for a peddle as the forecast isn't good for the next few days.
Had some good news today.Scott is coming in May for my birthday :dusty: (it's a biggie) and also in September with three of our four grandkids.I will probably need therapy when they leave as you all know what a quiet life we lead, but it's fourteen years since we saw the kids so they might be more manageable (or not).

Madhu that’s good news about the insurance..hope everything will be on time for you
Carol..how lovely to have all your family for the big birthday bash..very exciting.
You have better cycling weather than us....we had a major snowstorm for the last two days and more to come is forecast....such is the joy of winter...and so cold.
I do have a beautiful birds eye view of the snow topped roofs and trees dressed in their best white robes...
Ron hope your Meds have now been placed on a regular schedule and that you are feeling better.
Mandy...missed you yesterday..hope things are good
Sandy...how are you
Good Sunday to Everyone
Winning....

I maybe hiding in the snow, but not from the snow and I'm too far down the trail to be seen. Winning for sure, but like the stock market or the loto one better take it while its coming.

Not sure the Entyvio has kicked in yet.

Aw Carol how wonderfull. . Guess you will be 21 in may then as its a big one!!!
Grandkids coming in september too what a lovely way to be frazzled though eh!!

Trysha be careful in the snow. Had a little snow flurry on my way home from work tonight.

Ron hope the meds kick in asap.

Bufford take care in your snowy landscape too.

Love n best wishes to all you lovely people :ghug: 💕💞

Slip sliding away in the snow to church one block away from my apartment ...returning was
a hazardous venture...you might call it a good copy of Charlie Chaplin skating on thin ice..
the sidewalk was covered with snow over which which Nature had carefully painted a layer of ice rain....
very sparkly...very hazardous for walkers....not for the faint hearted...
And yes I made it back safely Mandy with my sturdy frozen cane..covered with ice rain like the snow maiden....not going out in that again...!!!
Was going to go out again to feed the birds ..but they’re all in hiding anyway.
Winning?......think so

Glad you got back home safely Trysha. Sounds very precarious out there. We only have a light covering of snow n its slippy as hell, so i dread to think how it is in your neck of the woods so to speak. Take care hun 💞

I'm about eight hours a week away from Looking like a bag lady, with the frizzled flyaway grey hair I would probably have if I stopped going to the hair salon, with a pot belly I would definitely develop if I ate just half of what I think about eating every day;with the dirty nails and chapped lips and moustache and bushy eyebrows that would be my destiny if I ever spent two weeks on a desert island.

Thats me you are describing, except add in a beard but skinny no pot belly. In the dry air of winter I look like a cave man who had a bit of trouble working with live electricity at times. In the morning my hair is just poof!

Glad you made it home safely, Trysha. Can't wait until i can start walking Alex again. I haven't walked him since before the blood clots. I am on blood thinner and i want to make sure i won't accidentally fall over. Winning. :)

The new employer was incredibly fast in getting us our new insurance id! Now the hassle is on with home infusion services and pre authorization from insurance. Fingers crossed it works out. Hope everyone is doing well

I'm definitely winning today! I might have mentioned this already - so you all know that I got laid off a few months back. I was at my old job long enough (15 years) that I qualified to receive a pension from the company. (I'm only 38 so I didn't think I'd get my pension so soon, ha ha.) They recently sent me a letter giving me my pension options. Basically I could either take a small monthly payment for the rest of my life - about $100 per month - or I could take a lump sum which was, let's just say a sizable amount.

I opted for the lump sum. It got deposited into my bank account yesterday. I didn't want to believe I would actually get that amount of money until I saw it with my own eyes in my account. It's really real! They took some out for taxes, but it's still a sizable amount. So, today, we took most of that sizable amount and paid off both the credit card debt and hubby's student loan. I've also got a hospital bill coming my way from my overnight ER stay a few weeks ago when I had norovirus, but I can use part of the remainder of my pension money to pay that off too. So, once I take care of the hospital bill, the only debt we'll have is our mortgage (and we only have about 8 years left to pay on that, and now that we don't have those other debts I can start putting more money per month towards paying off the mortgage even sooner).

I'm so, so happy! For the longest time, many years, I've been struggling with these debts. They're all gone now! I feel like I can breathe! I can't quite believe it but it's so wonderful, you guys. No more credit card! No more student loan! They're both gone! I feel like I'm free! I'm so winning today! :D

That's great Cat. You definitely are winning. It's amazing to find even a long lost $10 Bill. Lol. This gives hope that everything happens for a good reason [emoji4]

Carol...what kind of water are you drinking?.

Madhu...hope things will run smoother for you soon
Cat..that’s fantastic news...is your next move to buy a lottery ticket...while you are winning...
Our delicately iced trees are quite beautiful....spectacular with the sun shining through them.....makes up for the slippery sidewalks and snow mountains....
Winning....

Hi all. Hope to find you well today. Frosty morning here and zero degrees...looks like il be scraping the ice of the car. I do love the frosty look tho. It can make things look pretty ☺
Have a good day/evening everyone
:ghug:

great news Cat its nice to see good things happening to good people,
hope everyone is doing a little better

I have a stick on heat patch on my lower back. Not sure it'll work for the pain but the warmth is lovely.I might have to buy in bulk for the rest of me and the winter.

Apologies to those of you who have read this on another thread but I wanted to share

Thanks Ron.I've had this problem for over 6yrs so I've learned to live with it.Walking and standing for more than an hour or two brings it on.It's one of the reasons, among many, that we didn't get another dog after Alfie. But I can cycle with no bother.I'm not overweight so I can't blame that.Hope things are going well for you and your good lady.

Hematologist said my blood work looked good. My father has been put on a feeding tube.

(This was written last night but I fell asleep before I posted it. ☺) It's fun to see what everyone is up to when we've been away a few days. I'm glad you stayed safe on your walk Trysha, icy walks can indeed be quite treacherous, even when the outdoors are beautiful. Ron, I'm glad your blood work turned out well, but sorry your father has to be on a feeding tube. Carol, I'm sorry your back gives you trouble, something I can definitely relate to. It's interesting to me that your bike doesn't seem to make it worse, I would definitely have thought it would. Hope your back is okay now. To use Bufford's analogy, I think a few of us here have lived past our warranty for some body parts. Cat, all I can say is WOW! Wonderful news. You definitely are winning!
But we're winning too, we just spent three days in the red rock areas of Utah, went camping with our new trailer at Arches National Park and also spent time in Canyonlands National Park, even though it is winter. (We found some issues with the trailer and will have to have it serviced, but that sometimes happens with new recreational vehicles, issues that wouldn't have been found unless used for a few hours or more.) Posted some pictures below, and yes it did snow on us, but we stayed warm (even though the furnace stopped working ), and saw some beautiful sites. Exhausted now, but happy exhausted. (It's normally quite a bit warmer in Arches than where we live, but this year the weather is anything but normal.)

P.S. Sorry the quality of the pics deteriorated with the formatting so they fit here.

Beautiful pics Sandy and Doug. You have some amazing photography skills [emoji173]

How is the new place coming along Madhu? Have you got it how you like it yet? It always takes me ages to properly unpack after moving, best of luck to you. I sure do hope you are feeling more settled in your new home.

Thanks Chris. We are starting to like it. I still have 3 boxes to unpack, I'm taking my own sweet time [emoji23] there is a ton of other things to do because of the move. Right now, remicade infusion is the priority. Hope everything is good on your end [emoji4]

I'm pretty darn good, thanks. I have been taking a different approach with the family and it's working out very well. I'm definitely onto something. :)

I pray your husband gets everything looked after infusion wise. That really is a big deal! I just don't get how people can ever be denied legitimate medicine, EVER. It boggles my mind.

Such lovely pictures Sandy....what is that huge black bird called? Is it a crow?
Glad you had such a good time beautiful pictures..
Madhu hope the Meds are all lined up and in place
Carol at least you had a reply from Tom......
Sorry your back is playing up and hope there is a permanent cure found for you
Hi Cmac..hope things are good in your neck of the woods...
Winning..

The bird is actually a raven. Ravens and crows look very much alike, though. Every time I mention the name "raven," I have to try to stop myself from reciting a verse or two of Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Raven." I don't always make it, poor Doug has heard me recite the first verse many times. Thank goodness for him I've forgotten most of it...

*****Once upon a midnight dreary...

Sandy glad you both had a lovely trip. The pictures are super i love the area near you. It always looks beautiful ☺

Chris glad things are improving on the family front for you. Heres to more harmony on the way 💕

Ron sorry your father is on the feeding tube. Praying that things improve for him 💕

Madhu glad your nearly unpacked and can start to enjoy your new place. Hope hubbys meds are soon on track. 💕

Love n hugs to all :ghug:

Chris, That's great news on the family front. You have to do what you have to do [emoji4]

Thanks Trysha and Mandy. I'm behind the doctor's office to send the prescription so that infusion centre can start pre authorization process. It's been 2 days, doesn't look like I'm getting anywhere. I'm usually annoying on that front, I nag them until they do it. I don't care what they think about me, it usually gets the job done on time [emoji16]

Sandy,I'm so envious of your new trailer. But been there (not UTAH)read the book and got the t-shirt.England,being such a small country is now being overtaken with camp sites, mobile homes, statics etc.and it's not as much fun as it was when we started out.Too many folk crammed in together now and too many regulations. We used to park more or less where it took our fancy or on Forestry sites where there was loads of space.Happy days......Have been for more cannabinoid oil today.£20 cheaper than the first lot I tried.I did feel better while using it, but it was far too expensive to continue for long.I think I spend more money on supplements than I do on food (for myself).Have a good day everybody, sending hugs to all of you.

Carol, I think everywhere in the world has become a little overrun with the camping unfortunately. The areas that have hookups for trailers around here (ie electricity and water hookups) are also right next to each other, stacked in like sardines, not my kind of camping. If camping in established campgrounds of national forests, and esp national parks, they need to be reserved almost the day they become reserveable, sometimes a year in advance. Thankfully, where we went was "first come first serve" for two months of the year (Jan and Feb), but even with that, (and snow), we were lucky to get a spot. Since we have handicap tags on our vehicle, we were able to take the only handicap accessible site in the park this time of year (though would have taken any), which was actually a little nicer (it isn't always nicer, usually just closer to outhouses or bathrooms, if any). When I was growing up and my family did a lot of camping so my dad could go spelunking, you could go anywhere almost without worrying about being too crowded. Times have changed.

Madhu, did you finish unpacking your last three boxes? I think we need to move so I can get rid of some of my junk. I have boxes that I don't know what's in them anymore (from my craft room) because they are too inaccessible after Dave moved in.~SIGH~
