I have been having horrible pains in my stomach and right side for 3 months and no doctors could figure out the problem! I finally had a CT scan done and they did emergancy surgery, a 3 foot bowel resection of my small intestine, and appendix removed. The surgery was december 1st and the doctors havnt given me ANY medication to take at home because they hoped i would par-take in a clinical study which i will not! so now its been almost 45 days since surgery and I am on nothing nothing at all, what should i be taking to make sure i dont have a flare up? anyone?

Hi there welcome :bigwave:. You should be on something! The new (Canadian way) is to be on Flagyl for two weeks and then find a low dose drug of some kind to keep it at bay. I have had 2 surgeries and my first I was on low Dose Entcort (that was new at the time). That is alot of intestine removed. I would seek a Gi and get something to help. Good luck. Keep us posted ok? Many here from Alberta.

Hello and :welcome: The same thing happened with me, I was sent home with pain meds and when they ran out that was it. Surprise, surprise I then have a massive flare up 10 weeks later. Do you have to get a GP referral for a GI appt or can you sort this yourself? Either way I would get onto it straight away and call all day every day until you have an appt to discuss the plan of action treatment wise to get you/keep you symptom free.
