Hey my name is Ian Wright (yes I have heard every imaginable joke)
I have had crohn's since 2000. I tried to pretend I was ok even after losing 4 stone not being able to walk upright and being in agony. I was finally forced to go to the doctors and give 2 weeks to live without medical intervention. I got it and 7 year down the line here i am.
I had a fistula from my stomache to my bladder which ment there was exchange between the 2 systems which was very unpleasant.
In a nut shell: imagine a machine gun firing tomatoe pips
(sorry)
Since then I have had a few flare ups. Had a fistula from just inside my anus out through my butt cheek which was odd.
Luckily for the most part i lead a normal life : snow boarding, climbing, clubbing, drinking, working. Every now and again i get pain but that is controlled with pain killers and avoiding certain food.
I feel unlucky when compared to normal people but very lucky when compared to other crohn's sufferers.

Welcome, good to hear you are doing well, though, it sounds like you've been through a lot. Sometimes I feel lucky compared to other Crohn's suffers, and other diseases, but its all relative and I know not to take it for granted as I don't know what any day could bring.

Hey Ian did you here the one about....just kidding. Welcome. I like your attitude. We all have "crappy" days(pun intended) and on the good days while a lot of us probably aren't as active(me included) as you; I think it's "healthy" to live life to the fullest. If you wake up in the morning and feel good you don't want to spend the day doing nothing. For a lot of us there are more bad days than good. "Seize" the day has a whole new meaning for me. I'm actually flying out to Las Vegas in the morning for 4 days with some of my buddies. I may lose some money but I will gain a lot of memories. I didn't go last year because my colon decided to have major blockage and had to have 12 inches removed.

well all i can say is, at least u finally went to the docs and they found out the problem
