Hi ladies!

Just before I turned 40 this year I found that my periods have gotten heavier. I've also gotten nausea every time and extreme cramps. :voodoo:

Is this what any of you have experienced when you've turned this age? I'm planning on asking my doctor about it when I see her on Wednesday. But, any experiences would be appreciated! Here's hoping this finds you all healthy for the most part!!! :ghug:

I'm in the over 40 club....I too noticed that over the past few years my periods have gotten heavier, I don't generally have bad cramps, but I do get achy a day or two before mine starts.

Hope the Dr has something in mind that will help you out.....I'm just waiting for menopause to hit so I can finally stop with periods, period! :)

Thanks for the info Lisa! As bad as it sounds, at least I'm not totally alone. I'm thinking though that menopause would be better than this!!! We'll see what the doctor has to say and will let you know...

My doctor liked the mention of menopause, but told me that my symptoms didn't describe that. However, they did sound like the possibility of something to the point of fibroids (If I remember right). And, she wants to do an ultrasound of my uterus to make sure but not until after the new year as to my request because of all the craziness going on in my life right now.

So, at the moment she prescribed something to help me with the nausea and the mini pill (birth control) to see if that will help until then.

Just a little update.

I'm afraid that the birth control pill hasn't really made any difference in the symptoms even now that I've been on it for a few months. And, at the time my PCP gave me some anti-nausea stuff to help that I quit because they didn't do anything either. I haven't done the ultrasound yet because of being so busy with work and quite often am working 40 hours a week. But, know that I need to have it done before seeing the doctor again.

I had very heavy periods at that age and the OB did an oblation(sp?) removed the uterus lining. Problem continued and Hysterectomy was next. BEST thing ever! kept my ovaries and no more periods. good luck.

Glad that you found something that works! I'm hoping not to have to go to that point though. I guess, we'll see what happens...

I called and got an appointment for the ultrasound. It's scheduled for: Aug 21st and will be to check me out. In the meantime, while I visited with my folks this last week my Mom told me that she'd had the same symptoms at my age. So, unfortunately all that I'm experiencing maybe inherited. Lovely.....
