What do they look like? In the past I have gotten a few very small white spots in my mouth due to my lupus but earlier this week I woke with a sore in my mouth that us killing me. It feels like a hole and is bigger than the lupus ones I have gotten. It is whitish with a red ring around it. It is on my inside cheek. My GI doc asked if I ever got them and I never did before. Is this what she was talking about? It is very painful and makes eating even harder now. Thanks. I dont have a crohns diagnosis; just a possibility at the moment

When my daughter gets mouth sores they are usually kind of whitish in the middle with pink around and they do look like a hole. Google- mouth sores, or Crohn's mouth sores and see if anything looks like the sore in your mouth. ((hugs)) I know how painful they are.

Thanks. I did google them and they look pretty similar to what I have right now. I am guessing it will be gone by the time I go back to the GI doc on the 11th though so I tried to take a picture to see if it would help her figure out what I have.

you can gargle with warm salty water to keep them clean, and you can also use any of the over the counter cankor sore medicine. THere are some peroxide based mouth washes.. my daughter has gotten them a few times, and they are terribly painful. swishing around the warm salty water helps her as well as painting on the other meds... good luck

Warm salt water definitely works, my son doesn't like the taste and the canker sore medicine can be painful when first applied.

Our dentist recommended swishing with or dabbing them with Pepto Bismo or Kaopectate, this clears them up quickly for my son.

Canker sores do hurt but I like to kill them instantly by putting salt directly onto them. Sounds horrible and does hurt but the pain goes quickly and you're left with a lovely calming sensation. Ya you can mix water with the salt but you're still basically putting salt on it. I hate the taste of salty water which is why I put it directly on (moisten a q-tip, load it with table salt and apply liberally).
