We have decide to move forward with allergy testing with youngest (18).

She get hayever. Get hives from grass, sunscreen and wool.

We had our first appointment at the allergy clinic. Skin pricks negative for cat & dog hair, dust mite, rye grass, egg, milk, peanut, soy bean, wheat. No reaction at all.

I don't like medicating daily for an unknown allergy.

Next step blood tests?

And patch testing? Has anyone one done patch testing?

Blood tests can be done
Patch testing isn’t reliable
Random food panels is never recommended since they have a 50% false positive rate.

You can have idiopathic hives
Meaning hives just because it’s tursday
Pollen allergies such as grass should turn positive
They only tested her for one type of grass pollen
Here there must be at least 5-10 types of grass
The treatment is still the same
Daily Zyrtec or Allegra
If those don’t help enough
Then they add singuliar and possible allergy shots

You can be allergic to the sun
And to cold
An ice cube test done at a doctors office can tell on cold
Did she see a board certified allergist ?
Not a Gp
An allergist would not test for food unless you have seen reactions to food
Since the gold standard is eating a serving of the food without reaction in a hospital clinic

Some pollens cross react woth food and cause false positives -Ds has these and shows positives for something like 10 Foods he is not allergic to
He is only allergic to tree nuts and fish .

Typically you will get a positive test from skin or blood for pollen allergies though.
Do the hives stay in the same location (not move ) for more than 24 hours ?

You can have hives for more than 24 hours but the individual hive will disappear and a new one reappear somewhere else .

Ds doesn’t handle wool or chemical sunscreen well on certain areas
He has to use physical sunscreen (pure zinc oxide -Zinka on his entire face )
He can use a chemical version that sprays on his hands or bottom of his legs
Long rash guards shirts /big hats/swim hood etc are used to avoid the sunscreen

Wool we just avoid. Never bothered testing
Ds has severe pollen allergies so his treats were very large on his skin at age two before his body had even seen three seasons -normally your not positive till age 4

But try IgE blood tests for pollens not food and realize you may not get answers though

Testing was done by Allergist in the medical suites of a private hospital.

The patch testing would be for contact dermatitis for wool fabric and/or raw wool. Avoid wool is not an option as she entering her 2nd year of Applied Fashion.

She is already taking Zyrtec daily which makes her sleepy.

Her hives are caused by contact with something. They were always hundreds of small red spots. But two years ago her developed hives from contact with grass. The hives were from the top her socks to knees on the front her legs only. The reaction was stopped by Zyrtec.

We have a lot of skin conditions going on once.

She started treating the acne again in December and skin had began to scar. A severe form of cystic acne.

The order for bloods are TFT; thyroid antibodies, urea breath test, Fbe, Esr, D, IgE
