Hi all,
I just listened to my voice mails and realized I missed the nurse's phone call Friday. ( Darn new not so smart phone seems to make me miss a lot of calls). She said the MRI showed the inflammation is slightly improved. Her CBC is also slightly improved but her CRP has gone up. They did not say anything about the left side, where she is having so much pain. The doctor wants her to start on cimzia. I have to call them tomorrow for more details. I also want to talk to them about trying remicade again before going to cimzia.

Thanks for the update.

Ugh, stupid phones! Good news about the inflammation and CBC but the CRP is a bit of an enigma given the reduced inflammation. Maybe it has something to do with where her pain is??

Let us know how you get on with the doc, good luck!

Thinking of you,

Hi Kim,

Good news about the inflammation! :thumleft: Doesn't a high CRP indicate 'any' inflammation? I know we're all focused on Crohn's but if Caitlyn had some other minor infection, couldn't that also raise the CRP? Has she had a sore throat or anything? But, I may be wrong here???

Let us know how it goes tomorrow. :ghug:

You aren't wrong Tess, a raised CRP is an indicator of inflammation anywhere in the body.

That is interesting. She has had a cold for about a week or so. SHe is having bad stomach pain again tonight.

I spoke with the nurse. Her CRP is up to 3.1. Her CBC was good. The nurse said te Mri report just says decreased inflammation from the last one. I asked about if they saw anything specifically on the left where she is having lots of pain. She said she would ask the doctor. They are also still trying to push us onto the cimzia. I asked again about trying remicade again. She said the doctor or she would call me later and of course they never did.

If she failed Remicade...won't that mean it won't work again? What were the reasons she failed it? I'm just curious, why don't you want to do the Cimzia?

That is a low number for CRP and may well be a glitch from a cold. What reference range does your lab work off?

The two here that we use have normal as <6 and <10. I assume yours may be 0 or <1, so still a low number.

I have to ask them what the low values are. I was thinking less then 1 is the value they use. You are right it is still low but it is higher then 1 month ago.
Brian's Mom the remicade just would not stay in her system last time we tried it. It was always gone with in 2 weeks but we had a different doctor then and I am willing to try it again. I do not want to do cimzia because it is newer and there is less experience with it. It is not approved for use in people under 18yo and it seems to have more side effects then the remicade. She tried humira and could not tolerate the shots. She did great on the methotrexate until it stopped working.

Dumb question, but we had a hard time with Remi because it wasn't approved for kids as young as Izz...has it been approved for kids Caitlyns age? Hope SOMETHING helps her...I've been thinking about you guys!
