Don't continue reading if you have a vivid imagination.

I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's. I've been on prednisone for months. Three weeks ago I developed another abscess (woohoo), which I had to ave a surgery to have it drained. They put in two non-cutting setons. I'm on Flagyl and Levoquin to get rid of the infection before I can start Humira.

It's been a struggle dealing with the pain since the surgery, and I've been out of work since then. I've also been struggling with my diet and appetite. I've lost around 15 pounds since all of this started back in April, and maybe more since the surgery.

So here's the gross part: I've been researching foods and what is safe and what is not, and I've looked into what cheeses have relatively low concentrations of lactose. I tried a little mozzarella on baked chicken two nights ago. I've been avoiding dairy like the plague for the past 3 weeks.

Yesterday, I didn't have a bowel movement at all, and this morning I woke up very early to use the toilet. It was extraordinarily painful, and it was just mucus. I mean, EVERY bowel movement for the past 3 weeks (3 months, more like it) has been painful, but this was painful considering that it wasn't a full bowel movement.

I'm assuming that the mucus is just built up from all the inflammation in my colon, but I'm wondering if it's a good sign that it's being pushed out, maybe the Culturelle is helping (my bowel movements have been a lot more solid since I started the probiotic regimen again); or a bad sign, maybe caused by the cheese that I ate, or stopping the anti-diarrhea medicine 3 days ago..

I'm definitely going to bring it up to my doctor if it continues, but odds are good I'm not seeing him again until after I get the okay from my surgeon that the infection is gone 2 weeks from now.

Sounds like possible buildup from stopping the anti diarrhea meds or from the surgery but doesn't really mean its good. Means you still have mucus which isn't good. Hope the Humira helps when you finally get to start taking it. Keep us posted. :)

Sorry you are going through tough times. I wanted to comment on the diet part of your post :) Mozerella is not a good choice of cheese for what you are looking for. Try Aged cheeses like parmesan or chedders, havarti, gruyer, stuff like that. Diet has done wonders for me. I chose the SCD diet and have been symptom free as long as I stick to the diet. Check out my links in my signature if your interested :)

I've had constant mucus for the last 5 years and no one knows where its coming from even now they say its just inflamation but I feel ok
