I had a funny turn today in college, I was sat down working and my stomach made a really loud noise and had to run out to the toilet quickly I was in there for a while :( and when I came back and my friends just started laughing at me :(, it made me feel even worse :( my stomach make a noise and hurts nearly ever day, it is really hard to go anywhere and have this happen :(.

Has anyone else had this happen??

HorseLover!!

Horselover, I am sorry to hear that this happened to you. People can be so unaware and unsympathetic when they have no first hand knowledge of our disease. I was lucky enough to not have had to rush out my classes for it. And my coworkers at the time were very understanding, as an older coworker was a veteran to the Crohn's disease. So sorry, hon. Hugs!

That really stinks :( And yes, I find people to be not too understanding, even family.

I once had a friend of mine say "So that's like all your disease is? Vomiting and diarrhea?" Seriously... that doesn't sound like enough on its own?? Let alone all of the other symptoms that come along with it. grrrr.

I had something similar at college. I was in that toilet cubical for AGES! So embarrasing and some people can be really bitchy. The thing iS,

I'm so sorry, I know what that is like. I was lucky enough not to have it through school, but I've had comments in public toilets and stuff.. also my flatmates..

When I have to go in a public place I try not to think about who might go in afterwards, because a) I can't help it, b) chances are I'll never see them again and c) 90% of people won't say anything anyway.. but then I've got to the point where if someone has a problem and vocalises it publicly I'll retaliate.

Oops, didn't finish my comment! What happened there?! Anyway, the thing is, whether you have ibd or not, we all get D and C at some point and end in the loo for ages.. just for us it's more than healthy people.

Some people just don't understand. My brother still to this day just thinks my Crohns is like pretend and I self diagnosed myself. I had no idea what it was until I got diagnosed after my colonoscopy in 2010. And recently after almost one year of my job have I told one of my good coworkers about my CD. So well see...I hope she supports me.

Good luck to you Horse Lover, keep your head held high and tell them to shove it. Lol.:)

Years ago when first diagnosed, I was on Flagyl along with Prednisone. I couldn't drink alcohol while on Flagyl, but being in my early 20's, I still wanted to go out to the clubs with my friends. I would drink soda for awhile, but then switch to water. The waitress would get everyone's drinks and my water from the bartender. After she got my 3rd water, she came to the table and told me that the bartender told her to tell me that A.A. was down the street, not there. I was so mad!

so sorry, horselover! it happens to me all the time. i hate it when it's during class and everyone stares. and i hate it even more when people tell me its because i'm hungry and then don't get it when i tell them that is not the reason my stomach is trying to communicate with you. people are so rude. you need supportive friends who will try and understand because they love you. get better soon

Sorry for the late reply things with my crohn's haven't been to good, yeah i do hope things do get better, I really do hate it when people are like this it just isn't very nice for anyone to experience this but that is just what happens I guess :(, thanks for all the support from you guys :) :).
