I was out running today and came up with this idea to log my 12 day run up to the Dublin marathon on the 31st of October. This is my 4th Dublin marathon but my first after been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease.
Today I ran 10k (6mi) in 47 mins and am really happy with this. Last year I was running 10k at this stage of my training in 46.30 mins...so not to bad after all. There was a very strong northerly wind blowing, which made it seem very cold about 7'C (44.6F). It has been quite mild this last month, so this was a bit of a shock to the system..!!
I am currently on 4gms of Pentasa a day and it appears to be agreeing with me in my training. The 5 Asacolon and Imuron were causing me no end of problems while running. My knees were getting a bad deal from the meds and the running.. Poor knees. But the joint pain has disappeared and I am running freely again. 3 weeks a go I was running 10k in over 52 mins and not happy at all.
I ran 20 miles (long run) last week and felt good at the end of it, so am tapering my training now. I am delighted CD has not prevented me from participating in this marathon.
I am off work again tomorrow, so I plan on doing another 10k run..at least all going well...
Thanks for reading..
