my story/alt meds

i've had uc for over 10 yrs now with 1 remission of 4 yrs. it just came back in 2/2010 and was raging... im on colazal, which is being discontinued, so ill go to asacol nxt. i started an indian ayurvedic natural treatment 2 wks ago and will keep an update here. in 2 weeks ive seen an improvement in stool. i started a slow carb diet at the same time that had me eating a lot of broc and caulflwr which was giving me killer has and flareup. so i stopped now to see if my improvements go faster. i didnt realize those 2 veggies are a no no. since it's my first post i wont go into the treatment since i dont want people to think im spamming. there is a high remission rate that this dr. has so i want to keep an update ongoing.

So I am on day 17 of the herbal meds. After getting rid of the broc and cauliflwr I can now say that I see an incredible improvement in my condition. My stools were fairly normal. Compared to what they have been in the past they are much better. I only had to use the toilet this am when I got up. There was a little bit of urgency but nothing that would have made me poo my pants as I have done as recently as last week. I am still on my colazal 4 pills in the am, 4 pills in the pm which I am hoping I can taper off of maybe in a few weeks to see how I do. One thing I should note is that the herbal ayurvedic meds I am on give me quite a bit of gas. But I have heard that it lessens as the UC conditions improves. If anyone has any ?'s about the meds or my experience, please send me a message through the site.

I am now over 30 days into my herbal med treatment. All of my symptoms have subsided significantly. I am really excited to get some of my life back! My stools are almost normal and the urgency is gone. I think that my improvements will be a little more gradual since I have had such dramatic improvement in the last month. Overall it has been an encouraging month. The meds I am on are from a herbal remedy Dr. in India. He has treated over 5000 UC patients with a remarkable remission % rate. Since I don't want people to think that I am a spammer, if anyone wants the info you can send me an email through this site and I'll gladly send it your way.
I will post another update in a few weeks.

I have another update after a sigmoidoscopy last friday 3/11/11. My results were fantastic as I expected since my symptoms are all but gone. I had no inflammation or mucous/puss from the highest part of my colon that they were able to see. There was a little inflammation closer to my rectum I believe because I had to administer enemas to clear out my colon before they looked up there. I have gone from having to plan out my day around bathroom locations to being able to wake up in the morning and have a sense of normalcy I haven't felt in a long time. If I were to put a % on it I would say I am 95% healthy normal from what I saw in my colon.

If anyone would like the information on the herbal medication I have been taking feel free to email me and/or check out the website yourself. Google "sushruta clinic ulcerative colitis" and it should come up as the first or second listing.

Feel free to PM me and I will try to answer any questions you have. I took a big chance in trying this herbal remedy and it has changed my life.

It seems you only post to this thread and haven't as yet participated in the rest of the forum.

But welcome! we'd be pleased to see you around the place.

Beth, Yes, I am new and am only trying to be of help. I'm sure there are many people that post first and share what is/isn't working for them - such as in your sig. Lots of meds have been made from plants, why not go to the source? There are many treatments available outside of the US for lots of diseases that actually work. American medicine primarily focuses on treating symptoms rather than the actual source of the symptoms.

Here is another snapshot of my story if you are still skeptical of my motives.
I've had 4 colonoscopies over 10 years, I have been on asacol, rowasa enemas and now on colazal. When I saw my Dr. because of a HUGE flareup, he said if when I get the sig and there is no change he may have to put me on steroids. As soon as he said that, I was on a mission to find something that may work for me since I would rather try the worm infection treatment people have done or a fecal transfusion than have to go on steroids since I've seen what they do to people.

Hi Chad and welcome!

Glad your ayurvedic treatments seem to be working for you. I have no doubt that many people have great success, even remission, with many kinds of alternative medicines.

My advice to you would be to see a traditional doc concurrently with your ayurvedic therapist. You never know when you are going to need a traditional doc to come to bat for you and it's best to keep one in the on-deck circle.

Good luck and keep us posted. As Beth says above, we'd love to see you round the rest of the forum!

thanks amy. (i apologize for my laziness with no caps..etc..im on my ipad)
thanks for the welcome. i actually am seeing a gi dr. concurrently. thats why im on colazal and just had a sig. i have an appt with the gi dr. in about 5 months so it will be interesting to see how the ayurvedic meds continue to smack this stuff into remission. i hope i can answer any ?'s people may have about it since it was a step of faith to pony up $ and order something from overseas since the dr. practices in india. i was ready to try anything other than going back to enemas and potentially steroids. hopefully my continued experience with this ayurvedic meds will help. i'll keep the forum posted.
