Hi everyone,

I am new here and still undiagnosed. A brief history,

I am 41. My mother died at the age of 51 due to colon/rectal/liver cancer. She was the third generation in our family to have colon cancer (but the only female).

I started with regular colonoscopy once she was diagnosed (11 years ago).

During the course of years I had been diagnosed with possible IBS and spastic colon. I had a long history with lymes disease and while being treated on my second PICC line I had to have my gallbladder removed (2009). This brings me to my symptoms.

I was still able to eat normally after and no issues but about 2-3 years ago I started noticing that if I would eat bacon, ham or anything similiar I would immediately get terrible stomach pains and in the bathroom within minutes (literally) going to the bathroom. I was just thinking it was related to the greasy foods but then noticed that it also would happen with just basic foods like eggs, toast, etc... just random but when it hit it is terrible.

I went to the ER a month ago with chronic pain in my lower right quad. I thought appendix or ovaries. They did a CT scan and long story short, there results were inaccurate stating I had a uterus yet I had a hysterocomy years ago. I went to my gyn the following Monday and he ordered testing and came to the decision that it was not related to my ovaries and said I needed to get in with my doctor for testing.

She did a upper scope and colonoscopy. They found I had ulcers and inflammation in both ends. Also had two polyps which they removed. She said she believes I have either crohns or UC. She did lots of labs during my visit last week. I am scheduld for the capsule endo due to her concern of the area they are unable to see.

This brings me to my question... this chronic pain in my lower right area of my stomach is getting worse. It is there pretty much around the clock. Just sometimes it is more noticable with shooting, cramping pain and if I am sitting upright, i can almost feel like something is in there pinching.

Does anyone else experience this? I have been very fatigued for the past few weeks. I have an office job and find myself falling a sleep and once I get home I just want to lay down. This is not like me because I am usually high strung and very active with my ADHD. I also have been going to the bathroom a few times a day and have to go quickly when the urge hits.

Thanks for reading...

Welcome to the forum. You have been through a lot and I hope some relief is coming your way soon.

I can relate to the pinch feeling. It can be very painful and in one distinct area. I'm pretty sure my pinch occurred where I had a stricture and extensive narrowing.

Thank you for the reply. And I agree, I hope I get some answers and results soon.

Do you ever feel like the area is actually tight as well (referring to the pinching feeling). I have scar tissue from previous surgeries in other areas and this is a similar feeling to that. Just not sure if it actually makes sense. Then today I am also feeling the pain in my back directly behind it.

Hi,
I understand your pain. However I find sitting up straight relieves the pain. If I crouch/slouch forward it does pinch, which makes the pain worse. I have had part of my intestine removed in this area, however a year on the pain is back again. I did have a stricture due to the Crohns. I would certainly get this checked further. I was in awful pain before I was diagnosed, and it still took what seemed ages to have the operation after the diagnosis.

Has your doctor told you when she'll be able to confirm UC/Crohn's and start you on treatment? The pain and fatigue could definitely be from IBD and would hopefully respond to treatment if that's what you have. If you're losing weight unintentionally or have vitamin deficiencies or iron deficiency (which can be quite common with IBD) these can make you very tired too. What kind of pain meds have you tried (if any)? As an immediate method of symptom control, I find a hot water bottle on my stomach is a very effective way of helping pain.
