I have had non-stop D's for 6 years, 5 to 10 trips a day. Except for time I got severely impacted about 3 years ago. Colon prep would not even make me go. They took out my gallbladder and destroyed my thyroid in attempts to stop it. I get dehydrated and need IV fluids in Er almost weekly. My iron, potassium, and magnesium always is low. Even on supplements. I am currently on Remicadee 3mg every 8 weeks for almost a year now still no let up. I'm taking lomotil, bentyl, and omeprozole.

Any tips to kick this problem? Diet makes no diffrence I still stay constantly nausea and vomit several times a week.

Any meds that I can ask my GI to give me? I go see him Friday.

gosh you sound like you are going through a terrible time? Shouldn't they be doing sometime to tackle the problem by now? Have they done any colonoscopy's, x-rays etc to see where the problem is? How long have you had the nausea is it always or just since you started remicade.

Hi karj, I have had the nausea just as long as the D problem. I have had colonoscopy twice, upper endoscopy, several cat scans and MRI's. They all show inflammation everywhere they look. I a apt on my last cat scan but they think it was an infection. I have gotten better since Remicadee just not remission yet.

Well at least the remicade is doing something for you at least that is something. It is something i am considering myself. have appointment tomorrow. have you tried taking any nausea medications like motilium?

did you look at the never ending nausea thread by shazz on here, there were some suggestions in there i think for natural type stuff like ginger losengers? Motillium is the only one i have tried for nausea and it has helped. but maybe natural route might help you. You must be fairly ran down if you are vomiting and D all the time. and obviously you are since you need IV fluids in the ER weekly! I just am a bit surprised that they don't seem to be tackling this.

Maybe you should talk to doctor about switching meds. I starting having symptoms 6-7 years ago. I'm still dealing with it and im switching meds now because in the last year and half my azathioprine /steriods hasn't given me complete remission.

I'm not a medical professional, but maybe they should give EN or TPN a shot to give your bowels some rest and give the meds a chance to start working.
