While I was diagnosed with Crohn's in September 2007 I consider myself new to this disease. I never thought I needed to surround myself with people that have this disease because of where I work. I felt as though I couldn't be surrounded by more people that understand than those that I work with, so now I am sure you are all wondering where I work. I work in an Endoscopy unit and my office is located in the GI clinic. While I have a wealth of amazing physicians and knowledge at my hands some times I feel like I am around people that understand the least. In terms of medical advances and treatments I have everything at my disposable however the true emotional support comes from those that understand what you are going through. So what I would like to say is thank you to all those that are brutally honest about what you are going through because sometimes it is nice to know that there are others out there that are doing the crazy things that I do, whether it be inspecting the toilet after every bowel movement or taking what feels like 7000 daily pills, I feel honored to be a part of this community.
