Hi

I'm new to the whole being I'll thing and to be honest I'm finding it to be a bit of a struggle. I was admitted to hospital last September after feeling rough for a few weeks and losing nearly 3 stone in weight in this time. After A CT scan and MRI they found a mass of infection in my lower bowel, which of course the surgeons, couldn't wait to get in there and remove. The microscopic test reusults came back as positive to Crohns'. Since then I've been going for infusions of Infliximab and I'm taking azathioprine plus metronidazole and pentasa. I know I'm not the only one going through this but it has been a massive shock going from been a average build 35 year old keeping fit, playing sport to been, what can only be described as a chemically indused, underweight frail cut of a man with no energy. Sorry to seem like I'm whining but it's starting to get me down.

Hey Adam, welcome to the forum.

First, please don't feel like you're whining, this is the place where you CAN let off steam and know the people here understand. No one will think any worse of you for venting because we all do it! While we are all affected in different ways we support each other in where we are.

I'm sorry you've been through a rough time, I hope it starts to pick up soon. If you have questions about anything please ask.. I've found this forum to be invaluable because you get perspective that the doctors can't give you. I've found many things that have been bothering me for years have actually been because of the medication and the crohn's. My doctor didn't tell me those....

I hope you find some relief here.

Hi Adam,

A diagnosis of IBD can be very overwhelming. I understand how you feel and am so sorry you're having to go through this. Frankly, it's good to vent once in awhile, heck, we even have a subforum dedicated to it so don't apologize for venting :)

I know the last thing you probably want is to have more thrown at you, but have you had your vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels tested? People with Crohn's Disease are commonly deficient and proper supplementation if you are deficient can make a big difference. And one of the symptoms of deficiency is fatigue...

We're here for you buddy.

Take care.

Hi Adam and welcome to the forum. There has been a lot for you take in so I am really glad you have joined us as there is a lot of support available from a really great bunch of people. I hope you can start tp feel a lot better soon hun (totally agree about getting those vitamin levels checked), pls keep us updated on how you are doing.

xx

Hi

Thanks for your kind word everyone, I have people around me but it's hard for them to fully understand how I'm feeling, so I think it's going to be good having a chat to people who have or are in the same place.

I'm seeing my GP on Friday so I'm going to make a point of mentioning the old vitamins. I'll let you know how I get on. And thanks again.
