Hey guys,

I have a quick question...

I have noticed (and have had friends and family notice) that over the past month or so I have lost a bit of weight. I am not overweight. I am the perfect size for my height/weight. But now, with the weight loss, I am starting to become underweight.

Prob is, I am not trying to loose weight at all. I am not in a Crohn's flare. I am eating like I normally do. I just cant seem to keep the pounds on. I do get stomach pains a few times a wk, but nothing that I cant handle.

Does this happen to anyone else? Does anyone else have a problem keeping weight on, even tho their Crohn's is at bay?

FIY, I do have an ileostomy, but Ive had it for over 5 yrs and never noticed this happening...

Only you can tell how your absorption is. I can tell you that when I would go through rough times it didn't mean I would always have stomach pains. Most of the time I didn't. How is your energy? Are you more fatigued? Are you being more active? Your metabolism might have changed too

Ive been much more tired than normal. My activity level is pretty much the same, I havent made any changes to that.
If I could sleep all the time I would, but obvi I cant cuz of work, school, friends and family.
I dont know why my metabolism would be changing, but I guess its a possibility...

It is my personal experience that if I am eating normally and losing weight, I am in a flare.

I don't feel it at the time, but later on it becomes apparent.

Thanks guys...

I am about 5'5 and my normal weight is about 122lbs.

I have lost about 12lbs in 2 wks. While I am not severely under weight yet, its heading in that direction and is getting me a little worried. Ive never lost weight like this, this quick. That is why it has me concerned. Usually, when I want to loose weight, I have to diet and exercise. Now, Im not even trying one bit...

12lbs in 2 weeks is pretty impressive! May be worth running some blood tests for CD, inflammation, etc..and check your thyroid function and blood sugar levels as well

With that kind of weight loss over two weeks, I have to agree with the others. I'm thinking you may have some inflammation that may not be causing you pain, diarrhea, or other symptoms but is leading to malabsorption. :(

I'd suggest making an appointment with your GI.

Thank you guys. I will call first thing Monday for blood work and an appointment.
Thank you again for the help and advice.
