I haven't been diagnosed with Crohn's but I have been suffering from abdominal pain, diahrea, nausea and joint pain for many months.

I was feeling a lot better the last 2 or 3 weeks but my symptoms seem to have mysteriously returned.

Last night after eating corn I have bad nausea and pain. (Pickles may have been a contributing factor as well.)

I want to try consuming nothing but water, white rice, bananas and plain yogurt for 48 hours and see if that will sooth my G.I Tract?

Does that sound like a good idea?

Worth a try?

Yeah, worth a try IF you use SCD yougurt,
Normal commercial yogurt is only fermented for about 6 hours and then has milk powder added to thicken it so it is loaded with lactose which may cause problems

I did something similar years ago - just rice, lamb, avocado, water and lemon for 7 weeks and it did wonders.
It took months of adding things in and dropping them, moving through SCD to paleo and then paleo 2.0.

Those are foods which are usually pretty easy to digest, and limiting your diet to them short-term to ease your stomach is probably not a bad idea.

Other foods I find easy to digest are low fibre breakfast cereals like Cornflakes and Rice Krispies, white bread, and plain biscuits and crackers. Though you'd need to make sure your symptoms are not from lactose intolerance (if you want to put milk on cereal) or coeliac (which would cause you to react to the gluten in some grains).

Have you seen a doctor to see if you can get a diagnosis? Have you tried any medications?

Pretty much all vegetables contain cellulose, so none are really 'low residue.' Vegetables are generally easier to digest the more they are cooked. Same goes for most vegetables though, except for things that build very strong walls like corn.

When my wife is having a bad Crohn's flare she will try that (also white potatoes and plain white bread or crackers, as someone else mentioned). She and her doctor call it "the white diet".

My docs put me on clear liquids for 3 days when I flare then on the BRAT diet for 7 days till things calm down. Seems to work but man, I get tired of white rice.

If you try this, I would suggest the Japanese style rice, the sticky rice for sushi. It seems to work a little better than the longer grain rice. Also, 24 hour yogurt is the way to go. You can make it yourself and control the quality. (I am making a batch right now as we speak). All and all, if I ate sushi rice, 24 hour yogurt and bananas for a couple of days, it would give me some rest. Though one time I ate like 6 bananas in a day and it put me into a terrible flare. I would also think some plain organic beef or chicken with no additives of any kind would also be easy on you.
