I have to see if i have any intolerances. The first 2 weeks is no wheat or gluten. But my stools are still soft as ever but now they are orange! Any ideas?

I have been living on grilled chicken and boiled potatoes. And lots of fruit (bananas, apples, grapes)

I don't think you have an intolerance to wheat/gluten if your situation isn't getting better :p That said something else in your diet may be causing the problems too. It's not likely to be the chicken or potato since most people are ok with those (at least the chicken), so take a look at the kinds of fruit you're eating.

I don't think them being orange is a problem though, it's likely just the fruit again :p

Only been on the diet 5 days!!

It cant be the fruit as i hardly ever eat fruit. Just eating it as i am limited to what i can actually eat for my lunch :-(

Well, I have to admit when I first read your post my initial thought was you must be a University of Illinois fan, inside and out! I say that very much jokingly. I'm currently located in the town where the University of Illinois is located. The local sports teams color is orange. There are undoubtably a good many here with orange stools, as the bars serve orange dyed drinks.

Good luck with the wheat free diet. I hope it works and you find improvement. I'd have to guess the orange stools could be from blood, or the potatoes. Since this is a concern, it might not be a bad idea to discuss the issue with your physician.

Have you been eating carrots? Or taking any supplements high in beta carotene or turmeric? Orange stool can also mean blockage of bike ducts, but can also just be a side effect of colitis.

I'm on a gluten, grain, dairy, sugar, processed (I'm sure I'm forgetting some) free diet and even I have loose stools still sometimes. Its possible too that 2 weeks isn't really a lot of time to determine if the gluten free is enough. If it were me I would cut out potatoes as well and then see how you do. My diet is supposed to included no potatoes as well but I've added them to see if I could and unfortunately I think I"l be cutting them out again.

If I take potatoes out, I have nothing. Just meat and fruit.

I don't eat anything orange. No carrots. No supplements :( trying to rule out one thing at a time...

Well I was going to suggest butternut squash diced and fried but if you don't eat anything orange than that idea goes out the window.

Giving up wheat is a great idea, hopefully you will carry on with it past the first two weeks.
There is so much research to show that gluten may be most of your problem so i'd give it a month, and any reaction will be obvious.

We are all different but there is often a common thread in illness.
With crohns it is gut disbiosis and intestinal permeability.
Bad Bugs and Leaky Gut.
IMHO - you need a diet that eliminates ALL the possible causes AND the the foods that perpetuate the disease.
Then, once you have improved you can add things in one at a time to test them.

In the case of Bad Bugs, eliminate all complex carbs (so potatoes are out) and sugar. Limit fruit as it may be a problem.......
In the case of Leaky Gut - getting the bugs in order will help, but grains (particularly wheat) and particular saponin containing foods (legumes and potatoes for example can damage gut lining)

Don't do what most people do "ohh, i'm feeling much better, i deserve a bar of chocolate or a pizza to celebrate"

There are plenty of starches considered 'safe' in paleo but potatoes is one of the things they argue about - if you tolerate them then fine but you won't know till you have eliminated them.
I eat Sweet potatoes, pumpkin and squash, roast carrots and white rice (the only grain that i consider safe)

Why not eat all the other things that aren't wheat/gluten?
meat, poultry, fish, seafood, vegetables and a small amount of low glycemic fruit.

Veggies can be boiled/steamed if they are a problem raw,
Or juiced if any fibre is a problem
There are plenty of other meats,
Go for good oil/fats (NOT processed veg seed oils)
