Okay, so I'm going to be very frank about what it feels like to poop for a second. For months I'd been able to pass nothing but D, sometimes something slightly thicker but definitely not a solid stool and it was coming out all sorts of weird. A week and a half ago, I was finally diagnosed and given some Mesalazine which has started doing it's thing. Now I'm passing normal stools, and I know they're normal but it feels so weird. Like it's so much more effort than I remember. I'm not constipated at all, but after months of simply having to 'let go' to pass a stool going back to the old way feels wrong and I'm struggling to go except when I really really need to go. Have my butt muscles wasted slightly, maybe, or is it really all in my head?

Not the most important topic in the world, I'm simply curious to know what those of you who've been in remission before experienced. Not exactly something I can ask people I know IRL. Sorry to dump it all on you. :p

It's definitely not all in your head. I get the same way: after a few weeks of diarrhea, I realize that passing a solid stool takes a lot more effort and leave the area feeling sore after lol.

I think the anal sphincter muscles are just needing to get used to stretching out a bit more again to allow stool to pass.

It gets easier the more times you pass stool but the first couple times (maybe even for a couple of days) it feels like I have to strain more to pass solid stool.

Hope your situation gets a bit easier for you soon!

Lol.....I can't imagine passing a solid stool anymore. It's been over 7 years since my D started and I had 1 week, 5 years ago, of completely normal formed stools with no D. But as far as straining....even though its D, some days I strain, because it feels horrid, like I HAVE to get the D out, even though its runny (sorry), its still caused numerous hemrhoids. Hopefully it all feels normal for you within a few days. Best wishes :)

Yes i get d 90% of the time but when it does get harder it does take an effort but what a great feeling. i know it's weird but passing hard poop is quite a sensation for me. probably because it's so rare,.
