Just wondering if anyone has had experience with pain on their lower left side of the abdomen. Mind is directly under my rib cage just below my stomach on the left side. I'm not sure if it's gas, or something I ate? Of course when it happens I never remember to document my eating habits that week to narrow it down. (duH).
Any thoughts or experiences?

Thanks!

I did just read that it is very common in Crohn's patients and those with UC. It's the intestines and the inflammation or irritation that is happening inside our bodies. So, not to say it's "normal" but it's pretty common. Answered my own question.
Of course if it gets really bad then i'll be calling my GI doc but just have to watch my diet and water intake. :D

I endured this type of pain for a very long time and now had to undergo surgery to remove the sigmoid area.......turns out they had to remove much more because it was so diseased
Than God for a very astute GI specialist...I had switched from a previous inept one
The current GI was on the ball, and I had a very skilful surgical team
Unfortunately two wounds out of six became infected.....it was laparoscopic surgery and I am now on the recovery path and feeling a bit better each day
I am still hospitalized since September 29
My advice is to have someone take a look at what is happening to you
Better safe than sorry and better sooner than later
Feel better soon

I had a resection five years ago. The first time I saw him he said my innards had been like that for a while.

I often get niggly pains in that area.I was originally dx'd with proctitis, but after 9yrs it has travelled up my colon and I now have crohns colitis.
Don't let the pain get to bad.If you're concerned get in touch with your GI.It's always best to be cautious.

Left-sided abdominal pain is common in people with UC or Crohn's colitis. I would get it checked out if I were you.

Thanks all! I am dx'd with Crohn's Colitis and at first had severe proctitis but that has improved. I'll keep an eye one it and I have noticed that it seems to be linked to my fluid intake and if i'm slightly dehydrated it starts up. Also if I'm feeling a bit gassy. Just have to keep a good eye on it. :D
