Pain!pain!pain!

Sorry to vent but today i have been in agony stupid stomach! I have been on the toilet a hell of a lot if u catch my drift without being to graphic. I feel a bit fed up of it today soo annoying as i have just been laying on the couch. Just wondering is anyone feeling the same maybe or recently has been. I also had to cancell a shopping trip with my friend she was very understanding but i can't help being riddled with guilt!

Aww, you poor thing Sorry to hear you're having such a bad day. Is the Pentasa the only drug you're on specific to treat IBD?

And there is no reason to feel guilty! NONE NONE NONE! You have to take care of yourself and these things happen.

I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. I hate that nagging stomach pain. I get it all the time. And the "diarrhea stomach ache." I can't stand it. Not to mention the raw anus that comes with neverending bowel movements.
If all you're on is pentasa, maybe your crohns isn't being controlled very well. My dr told me that pentasa and similar drugs aren't very good at treating crohns. If it's working, that's great. Maybe today was just an off day. But if these days are fairly common, maybe you need to try something else.

Thank u both, i know its horrible being stuck n the toilet and the terrrible pain and the moment all im on is pentasssa i have been on azathiprine but had bad side effects my doc wants to try me back on it next week. so we see how it goes!
Last year i was on steroids for about 6 months and everytime i was weaned of them would flare so hopefully this time the aza will help..as lately im having more bad days than good.

Hiya Hanna

Time to see the doc?
A good rule of thumb - if you've got diarrhea with Codeine then you're inflammation is active.
Codeine's side effects include constipation.
Where is your IBD? Which steroids did you use in the past?
If it's in the small bowel then Entocort (budesonide) might be more suitable for you, minimum side effects compared to Pred.
This med is my first line of defense if I get frequent and urgent diarrhea.

HI Hanna most times I have good days but today and yesterday is not. I hate that pain killers are just barely touching the pain and my daughter, husband and I were supposed to go see a movie and dinner, and my husband hasnt seen my daughter since last March, and I told them to go but they wouldnt go without me. My daughter has exams to study for so, she let me off the hook. I hate it when I feel go NO ONE is a around and they are all around and boom..couch... so I am with ya today .

Unforunately; those days can be the starts of flare ups or a sign of flare ups;
(Maybe that's just me)

Have you taken a look at your diet from that day and the day before?
And STRESS.

Thank u all I think i am having a flare and yes going to the doc tommorrow my crohns is in the small bowel and used to be on pred the pain was reall bad last night and have had blood in my pooh taking codeine and still have diarrhea.. Thanks for suggesting that drug Astra ill metion it to my doc.
Sorry to hear ur not feeling well either Pen its awful when ur feeling like that and the painkillers dont even barely take the edge off the pain. I get so irritable and dissapointing u couldnt go out, i find myself that its horrible being layed up on the couch all alone but then i get to the point were i want some space,... sometimes dont think my mum knows weather she is coming or going! Hope u feel better soon,xxx
Hey silver lady i think it is a flare but have been bit naughty recently and havent been eating what i shuld, i knoow my trigger foods but have been eating them hope ur well.xx yes have defo been through stress as my lil sister had heart surgey three days ago but is doing really well.

Ooops! Naughty! Haha! It shouldnt do too bad! STRESS. It causes my every flare up. It's got me into a terrible situation right NOW.
Looks like modulen; no food; steriods in veins; drips; antibiotics!!!
^ I've started the modulen;no food.
If I hadn't been stressed; I wouldn't be here!xxx

Thank u i know stress is awful.. u poor thing i have been in the same situation as urself on moduline i hated it, and i was reallyy ill at the time having a bad flare in hospital on antibiotics steroids through veins and dopped up on morphine. Good luck and i hope u feel better soon..x

I can understand why ur so scared but honestly its not baad at all it is really effective. Im not saying i loved being on steroids but at that stage i was happy for anything to help me. Whilst on them i did have more flares and end up in hospitla but that was weaning of them .. I hate a love hat reationship with them they helped my bowel but as i was on such a high dose and on them for so long i got a few side effects i didnt put any weight on which i suprising as i was on predisone but my face did swell. What steroids do they have u on. I hope ur better soon and hope the moduline wont be for long.xx

I'm enjoying not taking them for a while and not getting the horrendous side effects. When it gets bad enough however; I'll be right back on them....

Poor u im exactly the same and my Doc tells me off as i try and stay away for as long as possible. Ill never forget one time i had been ill for about two weeks and went to see my gastro doc and she was like u have to go back on predisone and i had only been of it two weeks after spending a horrible six months on a extremely high dose off it and just cried. But i hope u feel better and might not need to go back on them.Side effects are awful thoe ur so right.xxx Good luck..x
